Or so it seems, anyway.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...en-breyer-retirement-live-updates/9232854002/

If Biden appoints someone to the USSC because of their race and gender, isn't he being racist and sexist?

If Biden appoints a black woman to the court, instead of, say, one of a dozen or so better qualified white men, isn't he doing the country a disservice -- as well as being racist sand sexist?

Why isn't Biden looking for the best possible nominee, regardless of race or sex?

Why aren't you leftists / liberals / Democrats calling him out on it?

If you research his past he is almost but not quite the racist LBJ was, but pretty damn close!

It just means he ran out of Transsexual candidates to make him appear more woke.

Well whether I'm leftist or liberal depends on who you ask. I'm not calling him out on it because there is nothing wrong with it. If he nominates someone unqualified I'll call them out on it.

How about he nominates someone based on their judicial skills and quality of character rather than race. But sometimes I forget that race hustling is all the Democrats have...

That is not the criteria Trump used.Biden did not suddenly decide to pick a black woman he promised it during his campaign. All the candidates are already Federal judges.

Biden promised a lot of things during his campaign, none of which have come to fruition...

During the confirmation process every senator should ask the black female if she believes choosing a person based on race and gender is appropriate.

And how would you perceive a response to a president claiming he will only hire a white man for a position before the position is even available?
Kind of kicks it into reality now, doesn't it.

Democrats have realized the only way they can win is by playing identity politics. The hell with what’s in the best interest of the country. Democrats have no interest in appointing a competent SC. They just want a rubber stamp. Those who say Republicans play the same game bring it on. Because you’re wrong.

Because they don't know the candidates yet and they haven't made the assumption that a black female can't be the best candidate?

To your Q’s: No. Wild assumption. Another assumption. I can only speak for myself—there isn’t a reason to call him out.

Let’s say he nominates Brown-Jackson. She has the same pedigree as most of the sitting justices: education and experience. If she’s not qualified they’re not qualified.

IMO much of the animosity I’m reading appears to be centered around a misunderstanding of history and process. Sure. Less than has prevailed but not in the way commonly assumed.

I agree, it's up to him to pick, but don't say your picking based on a race, or religion or even a view on abortion... just pick

now that repubs changed the votes needed to 50 though, he can pick anyone he wants

He's a bit behind on this one, GOP already appointed a black American to the court, the best justice on the court in fact.

we used to get more moderate SC picks, but under Trump the Republican Senate changed the votes needed to 50, now dems get to go by those same rules

At least Trump didn't announce that he nominated them because of their skin color and gender. A clearly racist stance.

Wow, No, thats not what happened.
Democrats under Obama couldn't get their far left crazy federal judges on the bench so Democrats changed the confirmation vote from 60 to 50 while Mitch McConnell was screaming at them, if you do this, it will come back to bite you.
But did they listen? Nope

Gorsuch confirmed 51 votes
Kavanaugh confirmed 51 votes
Bennett confirmed with 51 votes

Thanks Democrats

Now, if they don't confirm a judge by midterms, they won't get to replace the liberal judge they are losing with another one.

No one has said that a black female can't be the best candidate. That is a red herring. What is being talked about is Biden announcing that he is going to pick a black female before even knowing who it is. How can he know that she would be the best candidate if he's not even looking at the whole pool?

Democrats ditch historic U.S. Senate rule blamed for gridlock
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate, in a historic and bitterly fought rule change, stripped Republicans on Thursday of their ability to block President Barack Obama’s judicial and executive branch nominees.
On a nearly party-line vote of 52-48, the Senate reduced from 60 to 51 the number of votes needed to end procedural roadblocks.
Obama, a former senator, praised the action, calling the filibuster “a reckless and relentless tool to grind all business to a halt.”
The change will speed up the confirmation of Obama appointments to the courts as well as to cabinet and regulatory agencies.

You were saying?????????????????????
