Kind of a one-sided view of the conflict. In 2014, it was Russia that ignored the Belgrade Memorandum. The Memorandum was signed by Boris Yeltsin in 1994. That Memorandum established the Ukrainian borders that included the Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea areas as part of Ukraine. At the same time, in accordance with the Memorandum, Ukraine voluntary gave up the nuclear missiles that existed within their own borders. Prior to the Memorandum, those missiles were staged in Ukraine, but controlled by Russia. Today, there are no nuclear missiles in Ukraine. So, they could not threaten Russia with nuclear war. Russia on the other hand have moved their tactical nuke force within striking distance of Ukraine. Therefore, it is not Ukraine that is threating nukes. It is Russia.

In 2014, Russia claimed that their actions in Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk was not a violation of the Memorandum, because they were supporting rebels in those countries. Of course, anyone with half a brain knows that those rebels were actually Russian special operators in civilian attire. But, as of today, they cannot hide behind that fake claim. Russia is blatantly using uniformed military force within Ukraine, and they are not limiting their actions areas already controlled by so-called separationist forces. The actions of the Russians, especially in the last 12+ hours, are a clear violation of international law.

Putin has said that he has no intention of occupying Ukraine. In his mind, that is a true statement. He plans to annex the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and then put a puppet Government in place that will join the Russian Federation Commonwealth, or he will annex the entire country making it a part of Russia. In his mind, that is not an occupation. It is simply a takeover.

So far, Ukrainians have taken down at least 10 Russian aircraft and I’ve seen at least 3 helicopters shot down.

 

Where are these pictures coming from? I’d like to believe the Ukrainians are kicking ass, but they use a lot of similar vehicles and equipment. They could be from either side.

Pay attention ... They seem to be at war there, the aggressor is attacking - but the natives do not care at all. Ukrainians do not feel any threat from the Russian army.

 

Ukrainian forces will have to inflict very heavy casualties on the invasion force to generate any significant anti-war sentiment in Russia.
