I have a great deal of experience salvaging what went downstream without me when our canoe didn't forge the rapids so well. Beer was priority.....

Used to skin dive in popular float rip rivers.. never bought beer, and traded a lot of sunglasses.

My ventures were as a teen, on the Dad and Kids Camping/canoeing trips on the Delaware. We weren't 'supposed' to have beer, but the bottles of 'gatorade' disappeared at an alarming rate..

Looks like we are in for a really cold spell. The weather people say we are headed for temps in the 20's. We had temps in the eighties and spring is just around the corner. :(

    Hi Daisy!

This weather is rude, rude, rude! They are predicting a low of 11 here, and after last weekend of 77 degrees.... many things blooming and/or poking up out of the ground are going to get nipped. :(

We appreciate the cold down here. We will get to open our windows tomorrow, for a couple of days.

    ***

We had our car stolen this week. The sheriffs kicked some serious ass and found it in four hours. Nothing stolen from it; no damage.

The officers guided us down a path against prosecution. I don’t know why. They don’t know who did it. It was in an apartment parking lot in a crime infested part of town.

My first question would be why.
Glad you got your car back without damage. How did they take your car? Did you still have some gas in the car?
You are welcome to my share of the cold. The wind is blowing straight out of the north at about 25 miles. The yard will be full of downed limbs from all of the wind.

My poor daffodils... the snow is wet and heavy. Likely all broken stems at this point.

The pear trees were in bloom, and that fish smell won't be missed this year. Hope the freeze knocks out the carpenter bees and stink bugs too. If I have to sacrifice some blooms, then they can be dead.

It's going to get down to 38 here tonight. I don't think it got below 70 by Dawn yesterday. Was 86 in the day.

Sitting on my porch drinking beer shooting at a beer can in the bush is about 50 ft away with my girlfriend's Red Ryder BB gun I got her for her birthday.... Of course I might use it more than her ;)

She's a tiny woman so I get it because my full size pellet guns a bit too large for her.

If I would have some extra money to blow I would buy a few more of these and keep them new and unopened in the box. It's a retro throwback to the original Red Ryder BB gun. You know and 20 or 30 years some of these new in the box would command to premium as a collector's item. It has a leather thong like the original and it also has a compass that actually points to North and a sundial in the stock.

It will barely poke a hole in a beer can at 50 ft but it's fun to play with. For those of you unfamiliar with our American gun culture, this is the first gun you would buy a a kid and once he displayed responsibility with it you would get him a higher power pellet gun and eventually a single shot IMG_20220312_163515_3.jpg IMG_20220312_162540_3.jpg 22 rifle.

Carpenter bees do a service by helping pollinate, don't know the benefit of stink bugs other than stinking. For some reason we haven't had as many carpenter bees as we usually have. Wasps are the main problem bug here. Another menace that should be frozen out of existence would be the nut grass..hate that stuff.

Which one is that? The grassy like thing a spider plant?

There are two succulents there one is an echevaria, the other I don't know the name of but it's one of the few plants that gives live birth and doesn't actually make seeds.... Baby plant let's drop off the margins of the leaves. They're actually a real pain in the ass if they get established in your yard.

It's the one in the smaller black plastic pot, it's actually a leaf from a mature plant that I snagged in front of a gas station several months ago.

Then there is a dwarf aloe all the way to the right. The large plastic pot all the way to the left that you cannot see what's growing in is an angel's trumpet.

Speaking of plants and gas stations.... Here is a picture of the petunias and the marigolds that I planted where I work at a gas station. The petunias are off the chain. IMG_20220311_225905.jpg

The Carpenter bees have drilled multiple holes in our house, with the wood peckers following to expand those holes to get to the Carpenter bee larva. My house effectively looks live Swiss Cheese, and even if we were inclined to not tear it down for other reasons, it wouldn't be salable as is at this point.

We seem to have plenty of pollinators around here, fortunately.

Your dislike of them is justified. They are a nuisance no doubt, especially when they are making your house their home.

This last storm gave us 3+inches of rain, tornado watches, tornado warnings and plenty of wind. The temperature is cooler with a promise of warming. They are predicting more bad weather in the coming week. :(
Some of my wildflowers survived the cold and the rain...so far. Our plum and fig tree took a hit from the freeze. I just knew the fig tree would have figs this year, oh well maybe next year.
