I think it's becoming a lot clearer why Justice Thomas rules against tuning over documents.

He did the same thing when his wife's activities would have been impacted by campaign finance reform.

""According to the committee’s own enabling resolution, which was passed by the House of Representatives in June of 2021, the purpose of the committee is purely investigatory. None of the three stated purposes mention legislation a single time. Instead, the language of the enabling resolution states that the purpose of the committee is to “investigate and report” the facts surrounding the January 6 riot, “examine” evidence collected, and to “build upon” other investigations.

The three stated functions of the committee, per the resolution, are to “investigate the facts” surrounding the riot, “identify” lessons learned, and “issue a final report” on the committee’s investigation. Not only does the enabling resolution not provide any legislative goals for the committee, it explicitly bans the committee from marking up any legislation whatsoever."
    https://thefederalist.com/2021/09/2...-major-court-battle-over-executive-privilege/"

No legislative purpose and the House cannot create a bill and send to them to then "mark up" ie write the damn thing.

Are you seriously hoping that congress will ignore this assault on our democracy??

Why the HELL would congress decide not to defend the most fundamental principle upon which we are founded?

Name ONE possible justification for that kind of total irresponsibility.

Those who attempted to overturn our democratic election are TRAITORS. There is NO other description.

And, "Justice" Thomas is closely connected to one of them!

Jan. 6 committee recommends former Trump aides Navarro and Scavino face contempt charges

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot advanced a measure to refer former Trump aides Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino to the Justice Department for criminal contempt of Congress charges over their refusal to comply with congressional subpoenas. The committee accuses both men, who argue executive privilege prevents them from cooperating with the panel, of playing “key roles in the ex-president’s effort to overturn the 2020 election.”

Trump probably broke the law in an effort to obstruct Jan. 6 proceedings, judge says

A federal judge said that former President Donald Trump “more likely than not” committed obstruction by attempting to put a stop to the congressional tally of the 2020 election results on Jan. 6, 2021.

U.S. District Court Judge David Carter made the comment at the end of a ruling over emails that Trump ally John Eastman was trying to shield from the Jan. 6 committee.

By the textbook definition of traitor/treason, you are 100% correct....

But I'll settle for dozens of max 20 year sentences for seditious conspiracy.... that would put most of the ringleaders in a grave before parole...

House asks Justice Department to criminally prosecute former Trump aides Navarro and Scavino for snubbing Jan. 6 committee

The House voted to refer former Trump aides Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino to the Justice Department for potential criminal contempt charges over their refusal to answer questions about last year’s attack on the Capitol. Lawmakers previously sent similar referrals to the Justice Department for former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon over their refusal to cooperate with the Jan. 6 committee.

I gotta think those 2 are not going to get the pass Meadows seems to be getting as a former COS.... even though his contempt is just as documented.

For crying out loud, the disgraced presidents daughter and son-in-grift (both in the administration), appeared and answered questions this week.... If that doesn't set the bar for contempt for failing to appear and cooperate, I have no idea what will...

A major organizer of pro-Trump events after the 2020 election agreed to cooperate with the Justice Department’s expanding Jan. 6 investigation.

Speaking through a lawyer, the organizer, Ali Alexander, said on Friday that he had recently received a subpoena from a federal grand jury that is seeking information on several broad categories of people connected to pro-Trump rallies that took place in Washington after the election.

In a statement from the lawyer, Mr. Alexander said he was taking “a cooperative posture” with the Justice Department’s investigation but did not know what useful information he could give. He also disavowed anyone who took part in or planned violence on Jan. 6.

Liz Cheney says Jan. 6 committee has enough evidence to refer Trump to DOJ for criminal charges

Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., said Sunday that the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack has enough evidence to refer former President Donald Trump to the Justice Department for criminal charges.

Cheney, the vice chair and one of two Republicans on the committee, said the panel has not made a decision about how to proceed with the referral.

I'm sort of on the fence about the criminal referral in this case. Clearly, the DOJ has to be seeing in parallel most of what the 1/6 committee is seeing. In which case, a criminal referral from Congress should be superfluous.... This is going to end up in Garlands lap one way or the other...

I think the job of the 1/6 committee is to get their results out to the public via hearings with public witness testimony, and a report. I see no reason they cannot document the crimes they believe T**** and others committed via those mechanisms, even if it might conflict with any possible DOJ investigation...

I find the irony sad. Mueller (working at behest of the DOJ) found multiple probable crimes in his report, but couldn't indict and expected Congress to rid us of that vermin based on his report. Now Congress expects the DOJ to indict the same vermin based on their report, now that he's out of office..

    ???

Well then, get on with it then. That's the only thing that matters, not what she or what a judge 'thinks', but a deliberative case at law.

Jan. 6 rioter who said he wanted Trump’s ‘approval’ found guilty by jury

A Donald Trump supporter who told jurors he was “following presidential orders” when he stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was found guilty on all six charges Thursday after he admitted that he stole a coat rack and a bottle of liquor from the building.

Dustin Thompson, of Ohio, testified during his trial that he got sucked into online conspiracy theories when he got laid off from his job at the start of the pandemic in 2020 and said he was seeking Trump’s “respect” and “approval” on Jan. 6.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/ju...lGViyMqOxMVYYJpUivDcJzbeFrzNY+QfLlyExKgEAAA==

One simply cannot ignore the psychological component to these folks behavior. Job loss, equals disappointment , leaving a void, probably depression.......... makes one vulnerable to online BS................particularly if it fits his preconceived notions about a person (Trump) or ideas.

"following the Pres orders"............ shows he was misinterpreting messages or delusional.

Who TF steals a coat rack?? Not like you can hide that under the bullet proof vests they donned before the normal tourist visit..

A lot of sad disturbed people out there.... Surely there was something better they could have done with all that energy?? Clean out a local river or pick up trash on the highway??

exactly !!! Ego. but disturbed people are not known for their good judgement...In fact that is one of the main signs of psych dysfunction. They need structure and direction until they recover. ( with therapy)..

Let's face it ......."wanting Trump's approval" is not within any "normal" perimeters. To be blunt......that is crazy thinking and ideas...........that were followed by crazy actions. If these ideas are reinforced by like minded folks......... a cult like group is formed.....and they just reinforce/ "normalize" that kind of thinking/behavior.

Sounds like this sitting Senator was in the forefront of overturning our election, with new texts released...

    SNIP
"If a very small handful of states were to have their legislatures appoint alternative slates of delegates, there could be a path," Lee texted Meadows on Dec. 8, 2020.

"I know only that this will end badly for the president unless we have the Constitution on our side," Lee wrote on Jan. 3. "And unless these states submit new slates of Trump electors pursuant to state law, we do not."
    ENDSNIP

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/troubling-case-sen-mike-lee-162304340.html

I think we're way past "Lock him Up", aren't we??
