I think hatred of Trump is healthy. He was and remains an active threat to democracy in this country. He sicced a violent mob on Congress and tried by various means, that one included, to steal the last election, and it's not even an exaggeration to say that. There is no comparison between Biden and Trump.

I also tend to hate con men and people who lie and take advantage of others in general, so if it puts your mind at ease, I don't just hate Trump. It does annoy me that a con man was able to become such a darling to millions of American voters who really ought to know better than to support him, though. Hypocrisy annoys me also, but it seems that these people are content to embrace that and regard it as "owning the libs," never mind that there are a lot of equally angry and annnoyed independents and principled Republicans. To me, Trump being a piece of **** should not be a partisan issue. It should not define what it is to be Republican to condemn or embrace that lying piece of ****.

Regarding your question at the end, I don't see our government "encouraging" other governments to do what it refuses to do. It's not encouraging Poland's government to do what it won't, for instance. It's simply stating that it is Poland's sovereign decision to make. No one in this administration is calling on Poland to do what the administration itself will not do.

..if that idiot Trump hadn't been elected America would be much more at peace with itself and more importantly this war would never have been contemplated...

I've read Trump's speech. It is an exaggeration to say that.

As for hate being healthy, I'm with MLK on this:

And yet Joe Biden is a con man who lies and takes advantage of others.

    Consistency is important....

Biden & Co. gave Poland the green light to do something it is unwilling to do itself.

    Straight from the SoS's mouth:

Uh, giving them the green light is not encouraging them to do so. It's just saying that we won't stop them.

I would say Poland wanted to look good, without taking any responsibilities and tried to hand that ball to Germany and the US
It was one of those hot air proposals, they even did not consult Germany or the US.
    I would say typical Poland.
Now that they see taht the Russian army is getting their ass kicked, it looks like they are willing to go the direct route.

This is not a NATO operation, if a NATO country wants to help, it is free to do so. Hungry does not allow ammo shipments through its country, fine, no big deal. Poland allows it, so US and German and so on shipments go through Poland.

By the way none of the NATO allies need a green light from Washington.
If they want to help, they just can do it, a heads up, its a matter of courtesy between allies.

‘They’ll Give Me a Medal’: The Dark Reality of Russian Troops’ Alleged War-Crime Rapes
    Allison Quinn
    Tue, March 29, 2022, 6:35 AM

Amid mounting evidence of Russian war crimes in Ukraine, a young Ukrainian mother is speaking out about what may be the first rape case connected to the 2022 invasion to go before The Hague: She says she was repeatedly raped by Russian soldiers while her 4-year-old son sat just a few feet away.

In an interview with The Times of London published Tuesday, the woman, identified only by the pseudonym Natalya, says she still has not been able to bring herself to tell her son that his father was murdered by the Russian soldiers.

“We cannot bury him, we can’t get to the village, because the village is still occupied,” the 33-year-old mother said of the family’s home in Brovary, a suburb of Kyiv.

Americans were seriously divided before Trump. The people who are responsible are the ones we send to Congress, they don't like each other much anymore so they can't work together. We mostly don't want them to either.

Perhaps, you're right about Poland, and I would agree that all of this should have been discussed and arranged behind closed doors, not in the media.

You make a valid point, but I think the U.S. shouldn't be giving our allies in NATO a green light to do something we are either unwilling or unable to do ourselves. We would have been better off keeping our mouths shut.

The Russkies had the same problems in Georgia and they've had 14 years to correct that problem.

It won't get rectified any time soon.

I wonder if 60 yrs might be enough ? -
    L
ike the 60 yrs YOU Bloody minded Clots have been trying to strangle Cuba
Or the 40 yrs that YOU have been trying to make them work for YOU on Iran

But YOU got Lucky! in Iraq didn't YOU ? where YOU were able to take out
    - half a Million babies--with Disease and Starvation Yet still had little to
no effect on regime change and finally had to
    resort to bombing the whole
................................................................................. country back nto the stone age
    ................................................................................

Or maybe YOU will get Lucky! this time - & will be able inflict other members
of YOUR miserable humanity with as much SUFFERING and DEATH as YOU are
.................................. presently able to accomplish in Yemen & Afghanistan ?

If We Call Russia’s Invasion a War Crime, Which seems Fair to Me
What Do Hypocrites Call What the Hypocrites are Doing to Yemen
    .................................................................................................................... and Afghanistan?
    https://thefreethoughtproject.com/i...all-what-the-us-is-doing-to-iraq-afghanistan/

    From The Article:
It’s not just Iraq either. Currently, US acts of war against Afghanistan — known to Americans
as “sanctions” — are driving 22 million people to starvation. Thousands of children have
already died in the first three months of 2022 and according to multiple reports, it is estimated
that more people will die from the economic impact of sanctions over the next year than the
number who died in 20 years of war.

    &
As the US government tugs on your heart strings for Ukrainian children, they are slaughtering
tens of thousands of children in Afghanistan and Yemen.

Poland saw a chance to get rid of its Soviet time junk, Mig 21, and get it replaced at no cost by F15 or F16, which they already have. The US has tons of them in mothballs and was willing to replace those 20 or so Migs.
That was the Green light from the US.
But then Poland could not keep its big mouth shut and went public with this stupid proposal and pissed everybody of.

Deals like this, in a situation like this are done behind closed doors, hush deals. Al they had to do take all the NATO stuff out of the Migs, let some Ukrainian pilots come across the border and then have them fly the birds as low as possible to a dirt strip in the Ukraine.
No markings on them, No word, no announcement, hush, hush.

    928. Do U.S. sanctions on the Taliban and the Haqqani Network prohibit the provision of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan?

No. The Taliban are designated as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGTs) under Executive Order (E.O.) 13224. The Haqqani Network is designated as an SDGT under E.O. 13224 and a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) under section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). These sanctions do not prohibit U.S. persons from exporting or reexporting goods or services to Afghanistan, provided that the transactions do not involve sanctioned individuals or entities, or property in which a blocked person has an interest unless exempt from regulation or authorized by OFAC.

In addition, OFAC has issued Afghanistan-related General Licenses (GLs) 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 under the Global Terrorism Sanctions Regulations, 331 CFR part 594 (GTSR), the Foreign Terrorist Organizations Sanctions Regulations, 31 CFR part 597 (FTOSR), and E.O. 13224, as amended. For a consolidated list of all relevant GLs and FAQs, please see OFAC’s humanitarian Fact Sheet, “Provision of Humanitarian Assistance to Afghanistan and Support for the Afghan People,” which provides an overview of the relevant authorizations and guidance related to U.S. sanctions on the Taliban and the Haqqani Network.

The GLs mentioned above do not authorize any debit to a blocked account on the books of a U.S. financial institution and restrict certain financial or other transfers to specified blocked persons, including the Taliban, the Haqqani Network, or any entity in which the Taliban or the Haqqani Network owns, directly or indirectly, a 50 percent or greater interest.

For activity outside the scope of these GLs, OFAC may issue specific licenses on a case-by-case basis to authorize certain transactions involving U.S. persons or the U.S. financial system that may otherwise be prohibited by OFAC sanctions, provided those transactions are in the foreign policy interests of the United States.

If individuals, nongovernmental organizations, international organizations, companies, or financial institutions have questions about engaging in or processing transactions related to these authorizations, they may contact OFAC’s Sanctions Compliance and Evaluation Division most efficiently via email at OFAC_Feedback@treasury.gov. Sanctions Compliance and Evaluation may also be reached via phone at (800) 540-6322 or (202) 622-2490. OFAC prioritizes license applications, compliance questions and other requests that are related to humanitarian support.
