I've been quite clear, there is no such thing as some kind of racial parity and correlation between coaches on the sideline and players on the field nor is there any obligatory equity. There are 32 NFL teams as of 2019 there were only 11 head coaches who played in the NFL, only a couple of more in college or high school, I cited it earlier.

Who said anything about Head Coaches? Those are the elites. I was talking about player-coaches-- the guys who run drills, or work with only specific players, like linemen, or special teams players. I had taken the info from the OP article-- have you not read it?

Yes. It would be considered “initiating contact with the crown of the helmet.”

You mean the football player pool which is made up of mostly black people? Whatever level it is, it is made up of mostly black people.

Could be. Depends on what he wants to with his career and if he applies for and gets the job.

Belichek might not do well in college, but we know Saban sucked at the pro level.

I’m not sure I get the question. The left doesn’t seem to be doing this, the NFL is. And it’s to get more minorities in positions you’d think they’d be in considering the makeup of leagues across the spectrum of the player pool.

Yup. They came from the football player pool. The one that is mostly made up of black people.

Numbers. The vast majority of people in football are black. Sadly, they historically weren’t allowed to even get the job or even interview for it. Like I said before, if you have something that is made up of 1500 purples and 15 greens, you’d expect most all positions to be filled by the purples. In this case, they are lastly filled by the greens. You know how you aren’t a fan of most commercials featuring a minority because that isn’t representative of our society as a whole? Yeah that’s what’s happening in the NFL too.

I think if they want to play football they should, and if they are good enough to make it to the pros, they will. We know they have in the past and will again in the future. Yes even Asian. Let me introduce you to Dat Nguyen:

Vince Lombardi played college football. Can you name a coach that didn’t come from the player pool of football players? Football has multiple levels, pro, college, high school…. They all came from that player pool which is predominantly black. They don’t do the Ted Lasso thing.

They have(hence the institution of the Rooney Rule in the first place) and we are currently going to find out if they still do. The numbers have gotten better, but still aren’t where they should be considering the demographics of all football players(again, where coaches come from).

Sadly, I can’t agree they are all about winning. I’m looking at several teams, (including my own) where that isn’t goal number one. The Cowboys used to be about winning. Not anymore. Jerry says he cares about it but his actions say not so much.

Whoa now you're totally back peddling.

If you want to include college and high school among the pool of players where coaches come from then you are absolutely wrong about the majority of them being black.

If you only include the NFL then you are absolutely wrong regarding it being a virtual certainty that they played in the NFL as I've already demonstrated.

Either way the facts do not support what you're saying.

Your citation ended up showing all the coaches were previous football players. There is more than one level of football and all levels of the player pool are made up of predominantly black men.

No back peddling at all. I have repeatedly mentioned all levels of the player pool.

Saban did not coach long enough in the NFL to say he sucked. He had no QB at Miami. He took a chance on Daunte Culpepper who was washed up at only age 29.

Don't get me wrong Saban's ability to recruit superior players makes him a much better college coach than he could ever be in the NFL.

I do not know if anybody mentioned this but players who had a long NFL career are at a disadvantage to those who never played in the NFL in the coaching profession. Let's say a player retires at age 31 in the NFL. A guy who never played pro ball is a decade ahead of him in coaching experience which usually starts as a graduate assistant.

That is what Nick Saban did he went to Kent State and was a grad assistant there from the time he graduated.

Playing football and coaching football are two very different skillsets though. What if it turns out that players generally don't make the best coaches? No need to give me a list of ex-players who have gone on to become successful coaches, there are exceptions to every rule, but when I observe some of the lower level coaches that we never hear about, they're the same age as the players, so they're getting experience in coaching while players are still playing.

Heck, you could even mock them a little with the old "Those who can, do, those who can't teach", but that doesn't change the fact that a 30-year-old that's been coaching for 10 years probably knows a bit more about that job than a 30-year-old who just decided to retire as a player.

This earlier post, also addressed to you, already answers your question. Head coach is a much more complex and difficult job, with much heavier responsibilities.
