I broke the numbers down for you and it looks much more accurate and positive. It looks bad for those who like to stereotype and who fail to grasp that roughly 13 percent of the population (100 percent of blacks in the country) are not responsible for the fraction of a percent of murders committed by a teensy fraction of a percent of people. I was just posting in a hurry. I hope I've cleared it up for you.

 

It's a good thing that the overall number of murders is less than a fraction of a percent a year.

I think you mean that anti-racists correctly interpret their stats as a generalization taken out of context. However, kudos on your ability to digest that point.

 

Dude - 99.9 percent of blacks aren't represented by the stats. What's not to like about that? I don't like people to spread race-based generalizations.

 

And yet, per capita, blacks commit murder 4x more often than whites.

 

When that represents so few people (relative to the millions in the country) it just doesn't mean what racists like to make it mean. I think that's clear for any logical, thinking person to see. My work is done.

This was all about Smith saving face in front of his wife, rather than defending his wife. After initially laughing at the joke he turned to see that his wife didn't find it funny. Instead of facing the "music" later about laughing he thought he could save himself by appearing to save his wife's honor. The joke/yolk is on his face.

 

That makes perfect sense. I'm pointing out to you that saying 13 percent of the population is responsible for 50 percent of the homicides is an inaccurate interpretation. It's also racist, IMO. That statement implicates all black Americans. Instead, the circa .000001 percent who actually commit such heinous acts are responsible and it should be stated as such. So, the statement could more accurately be .000001 of people are responsible.

I mean i understand now what you are saying but the 13 and 50 remains completely accurate. Maybe a better way to say is "a minority group that represents 13% of our overall population accounts for 50% of our murders through a smaller subset"
