Yes, I'm sure that a world where people are responsible for their own selves and are not treated like little kids would be scary to someone like you.

Obviously discrimination is not only allowed, but sometimes even encouraged to promote the public good. That's why there are tax benefits to hiring specific classes of the disabled such as the developmentally delayed or disabled who might otherwise never get employment or in some states they encourage hiring ex cons etc. In 95% of scenarios discrimination in employment, housing and serve is completely ignored. Think of all the ways in which employers 'discriminate' in hiring which do not involve one of those rather limited protected classes sitting in federal law. .

I have never understood why the same govt that regulates private business practice with respect to safety, environmental, and labor law, as well tax code and consumer rights laws, , all of the sudden is abusing its authority with respect to civil rights statutes. I don't. I believe if regulation is good policy, then its good policy to enforce as well.

Discrimination is evil. Jim Crow, Apartheid and the Nazis showed us that

    Only evil people support it.

Really? Discrimination is evil? So, you make friends with those that like Trump? There is no food that you don't like? You don't have a favorite TV show that you like to watch? You have no friends because everyone is your friend?

Discrimination is as natural as breathing air. There isn't a single person that doesn't discriminate. You included. So, are you evil? I'm sure you wouldn't characterize yourself as such. Discrimination in and of itself is actually a good thing for the most part. Can it be done in evil ways? Most certainly. As you say, Jim Crow, Apartheid, and the Nazi's showed us that. So we guard against that. But we also guard against being overly discriminatory ourselves. Otherwise we're no better than the Nazi's.

Discrimination is already legal. Why is this in question?

As long as they can afford my price and don't abuse the staff I don't care what you are or who you are. Your money, at least for the nonce is still green. Now, you mistreat or abuse my staff you will be barred from my establishment. Not because of your skin color, nationals or any such peripheral bs but because you played the jack ass.

Why any business would piss on profit because of such peripheral no sense is beyond me.

Imagine driving through a state, running out of gas, but nobody will sell u gas or water or food cuz you are black, or Muslim.

    I guess you just, die?

That's what could happen if we allow discrimination again.

What kind of person would want to allow such a scenario???

How come when you give examples of potential discrimination you only use non-whites in your examples?

Are you under the impression that somehow whites are the only ones that can discriminate and never be discriminated against?

That sounds kind of discriminatory itself...

Typical. Why do so many lefties like to stick their head in the sand and just repeat themselves like little children when they can't argue against something that proves them wrong? Do they really think they're convincing anyone?

And yet, you do it all the time. Out of all the people fantasizing around here it isn't me. You seem to have forgotten that I've already agreed with you that Jim Crow and Apartheid is wrong.

    Yes you can.

That is an absolute and irrefutable. You may discriminate against anyone for any reason and no one can touch you under the law unless you are one of the persecuted minority who this law opporesses.

The laws against discrimination do not apply to anyone who does not own a business that is fact not wording.

    No one is.

You keep ignoring that Jimn Crow was government MANDATED discrimination not discrimination by choice. As was apartheid.

Fauk that! A lot of Americans of every race and religion have died for the freedoms we have in this country.

When my son was in battle, they lost Marines who were white, black, and of Hispanic, Pacific Island, and Asian descent, and one who was of the Muslim religion.

If some business wants to shut their doors to an American because of their race or religion, then I have no problem with revoking their business license and telling them to go fauk themselves and then shipping them off to some sh-thole country for a while. Let them make a living in Iraq for a while. I guarantee that they would have an attitude change mighty quick. Mighty quick. Guaranteed.

Yes they have and what they died for was a country where people's indiiviudal rights trunmps your feelings.

There should be no business licenses to begin with.

If YOU can discriminate and YOU DO then any business owner should be permited to as well.

That really isn't discrimination, is it? You guys are obfuscating the term here.

Let's just be clear, the definition of discrimination means the treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit.

Property laws don't apply generally, especially on an individual basis because then you are obfuscating the difference between preference and discrimination. For businesses, it may apply if the business is open to the general public where the business will not allow any protected group onto its premesis no matter what. In that situation, the business can be sued, or worse, for violating the civil ordinances and state laws.

What you guys are trying to do is ignore the legal definition and create a legal definition out of your own arse, to put it mildly.

If your business uses public sidewalks, public roads, public EMS, Fire & Police, the public has the right to keep you from being a racist, bigoted *******.

These guys are using an antiquated high school debate tactic here. They are loosely defining the word "discrimination" to mean anything. For instance, discrimination to them means preference, or lack of business sense, or legitimate business concerns, such as inability to pay.

And they are trying to bait people to agree with them so that they can "feel morally superior" thinking "these leftists are the ones who will discriminate, not us" argument.

    1) "Discrimination" is the term used by the OP. You can call it whatever you like, but in this example it means refusing entry to anyone, at any time, for any reason. Say a shop owner doesn't like Asians, so he never allows any into his store. Completely legal.

    2) Irrelevant. Private Property law allows you to refuse entry to anyone, at any time, for any reason. Discrimination doesn't even enter into it, because these laws come FIRST. Discrimination laws pertain to dialogue or action beyond that point, and are therefore unrelated.

    3) Yes, Private Property laws do apply 'generally'. They trump everything, because they pertain to anyone but yourself (as the property owner or representative) even getting past your front gate. And it's you who's obfuscating. You're unable to separate the two different laws, and think of them as interchangeable or even 'similar'. They're not, because they pertain to two different scenarios. And all private enterprise is subject to Private Property law .. so they cannot be sued for refusing entry to ANYONE, at ANY TIME, for ANY REASON.

Private Property law is applied to all private property. That's where the concept of trespass comes from. If you don't believe it exists, then open your front door at home and let anyone in who feels like entering. Don't refuse them, else you'll be practising 'discrimination'. And before you waste any time saying things like "but a business can't afford to turn people away" or some other such .. NOT RELEVANT. What any individual business owner does or doesn't do about his profits is not the point.

It's your failure to grasp private property law, actually.

There was an old line segregationist back in the late sixties managed to get himself boycotted by African Americans. After about a week he relented. Dumbass had no idea how important African Americans were to his business.
