The first RAF jets that got GPS were the Jaguars for the Gulf War. The GPSs were civilian units again basically "taped to the dashboard". It's a handy, very accurate, double-check to visual navigation, especially in places without too many visual features, like deserts, or major rearrangements to the scenery like a war zone. One isn't relying on it if one knows how to navigate anyway.....so therein lies the question I reckon.

The war seems to have brought them together. If what you say is true then Ukraine would have fallen. Clearly they don't want Russian control in most of the country.

 

I'm not sure of the ins and outs of piloting a jet fighter, however Su-34s fighter jets were put into service in Russia in 2014. I doubt that civilian a GPS strapped to the dash was part of the original design.

...I have a feeling its to do with the cockpit configuration and the MFDs they have...these Russian jets, whilst outwardly they look modern and as sexy as hell under the skin they're really only about up to the technical level of an F/A-18A but if you look at the current crop of NATO jets they have very sophisticated and easy to use MFDs. I have a feeling that when the pilot is stressed and under pressure its easy just to look at the GPS for a quick reference...??

 

Indeed the people of Crimea chose .. and were liberated. NATO didn't like that for some reason.

Many of the young men of Ukraine left for the DPR or for Russia. This is why the Americans only trained the nationalists from Western Ukraine since they were the only ones they could rely on. Most of the other Ukrainians refused to kill their brethren and/or become cannon fodder for Poroshenko and Zalensky.

This video explains as to what happened to those who objected to the junta in Kiev. In Odessa when they tried to collect signatures for a referendum, a mob from Lviv under the pretense of attending a soccer game chased them into the Trade Union Bldg. where they were burned alive or hacked.

As yet, no one has been brought to trial even though there are loads of videos of the ones involved. This was not the only atrocity, there were many.

Depends which NATO jet you are talking about .. Many are going with the F-35 .. which is the lemon of the skies. F/A-18A would wax the F-35 in a dogfight - like shooting fish in a barrel .. and good luck this Turkey being able to get out of the way of missiles -- which is hard for any plane to do these days.
