Disney Stock Drops after Florida Republicans Pass Bill to Strip Company of Autonomous Status
Disney stock continued to fall this week after the Florida House passed a bill revoking the company’s autonomous governmental status.

While Disney stock reached an all-time high in March 2021 of nearly $200 per share, according to Fox Business, it has been declining ever since. When the market closed on Thursday, the stock was around $120 per share, a 33 percent drop from one year ago and an 8 percent drop from just two days earlier, prior to the passage of the bill.

The company’s stock woes come as Disney and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have become embroiled in a political spat over the state’s Parental Rights in Education law. Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced in March that the company would suspend political donations in Florida over the bill, which prohibits lessons on gender identity and sexual orientation for students in kindergarten through third-grade.

Regurgitating the same talking points memo does not prove your point Condor. Disney originally agreed with the bill, then disagreed once the final language was put in place. After that, DeSantis went after Disney all because Disney disagreed with DeSantis and you guys are playing follow the little birdie. Taking away the special tax status really, really, does not hurt Disney's bottom line, net profit. In fact, it helps it and Disney will no longer be responsible for all the highways and infrastructure in the said special tax district. Now the state will be responsible which now will mean all that construction, closed lanes, etc while entering the property. In addition, property tax increases will go up for the Orlando area and surrounding areas, and that is not a good thing.

All you guys are doing is actng more like Joseph Stalin than GW.

1. I posted actual links (not opinions) to Disneys current tanking of its stock and nothing you can post will change the fact that they have gone from $200 a share to $107.
If you can't deal with the reality of the current stock bottoming out, its your own dismissal of reality.

2. Disney NEVER agreed with the bill EVER and you can't find a single link to prove it. You just made that up. Or you can provide this language they originally agreed with. But you won't because it doesn't exist. If you're going to lie about something, be prepared to be called out on it.

3. If taking away their special use permit doesn't hurt Disney, then why are investors selling off and Disney crying about it. Thats just dumb. ANother made up fake claim by you.

4. Without their special use permit, Disney will now have to pay the county for permits, building, as well as paying county tax assessments for their parks and buildings. What do you think a tax assessor will asses Disney property values at? Your living in a dream world that doesn't exist.

But that is not the case and has nothing to do with the topic of the article I put here. Most parents are content with letting that be their responsibility on Saturday or Sunday or they send their kids to private school or home school them.

 

It seems you oppose using schools to teach kids left-wing ideology. By the same token you should oppose teaching them religious ideology as well. So it is related to the topic. And many parents don't want their kids being taught religious ideology in school.

 

Where is this happening now?

is the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America religious ideology? Is our nations pledge of allegiance religious ideology? How about our national motto? What denominations theology or dogma do you think is or might be present in our public schools?

 

IMO, it should be at least $18-27K/year/child which would reflect the current public school budget. And teachers should be able to form their own schools to compete for that money outside the current system.
