I wasn't mentioning discovery. I said Muslims developed it. As did many peoples who used the concept.
That knowledge led to the development of ertain branches of mathematics.
My point was that since Islam forbids making likenesses of their faith they decorated with complex geometric design and the resulting understanding of geometry, architecture, ground engineering were miles ahead of the Christian world's relatively fundamental level.
When the Muslims left Europe, Europe had become far more knowledgeable on these skills.

They are pretty popular now. Probably more so than they've ever been.

No worries. It's perfectly understandable why you can't explain yourself. I shouldn't have asked you to try.

Already did. Read the thread. It's perfectly understandable why you can't present an articulable argument.

I made my argument and it has nothing to do with your "genetic thoughts" argument.

The worst part about western civilization is its affects on the environment and the dangers of technology for human survival and happiness.

Are you not confusing religion with ideologies here? Political ideologies aren't religions, and religions are not political ideologies. A government may be theocratic, but that is rule by religion, not a political ideology.

'The emphasis of religion is on faith and worship; its appeal is to inwardness and its aim the redemption or purification of the human spirit. An ideology speaks to the group, the nation, or the class.'

I like how your quote is a pretty good working definition of wokism. Antiracism is a struggle session you have with yourself every day.

I agree with you about the detrimental effects Western Civilization has on the environment and I feel that overpopulation is responsible for everything from increasing crime to suburban sprawl to decimation of the tropical rain forests.

In spite of its possible abuses, see more advanced technology as a possibility to save us from pollution brought on by increasing energy demands.

In what ways do you see the detrimental effects of more advanced technology on Western Civilization?

    Thanks,

If "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Then there must be something of great value in the world in Gods estimation. So hang on boys and girls. If God is for us, it is cause to hope and rally, at least to that which is right and good. Was there ever a time when putting away the bad wasn't progress?

Basically technological progress is outstripping cultural progress. Humans are basically smart apes and we are making bigger and bigger tools and weapons. Eventually we will misuse them and threaten our own survival. We have seen the first signs of this in nuclear weapons, and climate change. But imagine what we will have in 500 years.

Also human consumption keeps increasing but our planet's capacity remains the same. Eventually we will reach a breaking point when we will have to cut back or deplete our planet.

    True.
The global drive has always been to increase wealth and growth.
If everyone of the nearly 9 billion of us did that, the planet would die.

I agree with what you have written but still feel that the only hope our planet it to get a handle on overpopulation. I feel that this is an especially important need among those who are either unable or unwilling to support or educate themselves and / or their children.

This is why I feel that one of the more intelligent things that governments can do is to provide free and easily accessible contraceptives and abortion so that those who cannot afford either of those services only have the children that they want and can properly care for.

Otherwise, I can very well imagine what our planet will be like in 500 years. It will look very much like the world portrayed in the movie "Idiocracy". As we are dumbing down our school curricula and assure our children that "everyone is a winner", we are well on the way to a world very much like the one depicted in "Idiocracy".

    Thanks,
