I'm saying, I wouldn't count my chickens before they're hatched. In other words, don't be surprised if there are more drop boxes and online voting for whatever non-democratic reason which prevents the apparent GOP victory in both chambers of congress.

Dems are closer to being libertarian and freedom then republicans would ever tolerate. The defund the police movement was a libertarian dream, and when Trump was in charge he sent the SEC after crypto and tried to ban TikToc.
Republicans want discriminatory laws, corporate welfare, isolationist policy, and create policy that screws up our national environment. They don't believe in market fundamentals wanting government to regulate social media, and punish business for not bending to their will, etc.

The mid-terms are not "coming fast" -- they're half a freakin year away!

If they continue using Dominion machines, who operate without supervision or oversight, they will be able to pull a rabbit outa the hat anytime, anywhere if they don't..

Without an America First President, none of those issues will be resolved.

For one thing, Republicans won't be able to override vetoes. For another thing, even if the legislature overrode a Biden veto, there is no reason to believe Biden will enforce or act on any legislation that is passed. He can easily just drag his feet while doing nothing.

And then there's the issue of Biden's EO's. They are a big part of the problems regarding the things you mention. Those won't change until there is an America First President in the White House.

The only thing I can see a Republican majority in Congress doing, at least until the 2024 election, is putting the brakes on out of control spending and refusing to take up legislation that aids the left's agenda. Anything else will have to wait till Trump or DeSantis wins in 2024.

Hopefully congressional grid lock, the only salvation for us that seems to be viable.

I agree that is the outcome for the senate, barring any significant changes. The catch is that all the rules seem to be unreliable these days; and it's hard to predict what will come out of the woodwork between now and then. The democratic image is certainly losing it's appeal, and it could lose a lot more between now and November. A veto over-ride is not guaranteed even with a super majority by one party- nor is it precluded by the lack of it. It it becomes politically expedient to break ranks, some will do so.

We don't know for sure what will happen to influence the political situation between now and then- it is my belief at this point that the democratic party has greatly overplayed it's advantages and burned too many bridges, and that will result in a lot of pressure on the dems who continue to hold office to become moderates.

The question of how smart folks are- is an important one. But smart and wise are not the same things, we shouldn't confuse that. IF we were wise, we see things differently than people who are just "smart".

Most people react to what they see and believe, right now. They usually want to blame someone for it, and the people actually responsible want to divert that blame to someone or something else. Politicians do that and get away with it because the public believes that knowledge and understanding are the same thing... and they are not.

One of the most reliable rules of life is "**** happens". Let's equate that to something simple, like a road trip. You pick a destination and route, and you are on your way. But you do not point your car toward the destination and take a nap, because of a constant stream of variables you must correct for, so if the car's moving, you are behind the wheel and hopefully paying attention. But- how?

Are you paying attention to what is happening 50 feet in front of the car? Or 500 feet? This is directly comparable to management, leadership, navigation and so on. A wise leader is preparing for things that haven't happened but might, so they are watching the future; positioning themselves to be ready for possible events. A smart but not wise one will deal with what comes up right now- but be unprepared to do so well. If the driver deals with things as they happen, it is a string of crisis, each one requiring their full attention... insuring that they don't see the next one either. A wise leader is prepared for the future... One who may be smart but not wise is dealing with the present. The decisions we make today shape tomorrow. Wise people know that. The Biden administration is a perfect example of not dealing with anything until it's in your face, and while it is- the next crisis is coming fast. Combination of myopia and incompetence. Everything is somebody else's fault, of course.

Criticism by most is- hot air. People complaining that they aren't happy with the way things are, and demanding somebody fix that. NOT them, but somebody. You can see that on this forum over and over- people complaining, but virtually never coming up with a legitimate plan to fix things across the board for everyone. They want what is in their face changed, but give little thought to how others would be affected by what they demand.

Take that highway example to real life. "**** happens" occurs to everyone at every level. IF you are wise, you accumulate a cash reserve for the unexpected- and you give that a place of priority in your financial management plan (If you have one) and live more frugally if necessary to build it. Once you have that established, most "****" instantly degrades to inconvenience instead of crisis. An unexpected event does not throw you off track and destroy your trajectory, it becomes a temporary inconvenience. So while the smart but unwise are thrashing around with a crisis, you remain on track and gaining ground. This is why some become billionaires, and others with exactly the same basic equipment are living under a bridge. These are the results of the choices we make, coming from from the way we think and the way we navigate life.

IF we were wise- both people and government- this would show in the results. For precisely this reason, some people are in strong control of their lives and futures, and others are blowing like leaves in the wind. On the government level, the scale makes everything larger- but the same principles apply. Our government has no cash reserve; the plan there is to spend your money until the nation goes broke.
Invariably- the "complainers" who can't manage well blame their condition on the successes of those who can. Thus, they say the rich never pay their share, that corporation control them and steal the money they never had, that work is slavery, etc-etc. Unfortunately, we have a lot more "smart" people than wise people. They know a lot, but they understand little of it- and they elect governments that agree with them.

Human nature has not matured because we have so many people spending their lives looking for the "easy" button, the entitlement, the people who should have done things for them.... and failing to get their butts in the drivers seat of their own car and drive wisely. They don't think it's fair to expect that of them- because irresponsible people seeking the power of office keep telling them what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear.

Anybody who really wants YOU to thrive, doesn't do that. They don't make you dependent on them, they tell you to depend on you- to not just get smart, but to get strong and wise.
Such people are usually disappointed, because most of the people are offended by the idea they don't already know everything. They demand a solution- and they demand it fit neatly into what they already believe and do, without disturbing it. That insures it will never happen.

While wisdom is too rare- most people will eventually change their preferences when the results are bad enough. This is the question right now. Do people see what has happened? Are they wise enough to see past the barrage of manufactured imagery and understand it? Strong enough to recognize that they must change course to avoid more of the same? Will they change wisely- or just change?

I agree with your main point. I think we need an "America First" mindset in Congress as well. In my opinion- anybody not for the team they are on has no right to be on that team, and ALL politicians are part of the team whose primary purpose is the well-being and success of this nation. It is also true that every citizen should endorse this.

People should understand that every country has a population that should be working for that, the concept is not detrimental to others in any way. And to the degree we choose to help others- our capacity to help anybody is dependent on our own strength and condition. If you can't take care of your own house, you damn sure won't have any capacity to take care of others.

We shouldn't have to need a constitutional amendment declaring it for that to be understood by everyone.

I’m curious what form you think that will take.

I actually agree with your position and think you’re correct. I said from the get-go that the democrats will use 1/6 to attempt to justify a non-acceptance of the peaceful transition of power.

How do you think they’ll do it? I think they’re going to try to cheat again and if that fails they’ll whip their base into a frenzy with mass protests and then argue they need a declaration of martial law to deal with those violent protests and state that they can’t have a transition of power to a new president under said circumstances.

I doubt they will end up doing much in terms of organized violence. Radical elements within the democrats will try to organize cells but probably won’t be too successful in that endeavor. Democratic Party structure doesn’t really encourage that. My guess is riots that will turn into street brawls, depending on the level of control the police will maintain. We’ll probably see a lot of violent street brawls between far right and far left protestors, resulting in shooting matches. That will be the final spark for the GOP to start taking more draconian actions I think.

'No - they won't because the 50 dem senators will never all agree to it

In 2025 it will be reversed - the dems will defend the filabuster and the republicans will use the "it was ok when you wanted to get rid of it" argument

They don’t need all 50. They need 49 and Romney or Collins. They won’t get Manchin but it’s possible Murkowski Collins or Romney will side with the Dems to protect abortion.

The Dems just need one defector from the republicans to drop the filibuster and expand and pack the court

We'll continue to have elections. The things you allow them to convince you of, it's abuse, but, it only works because of your submission. You'll grow out of that at some point.

BILL MAHER SLAMS BIDEN’S ‘DISINFORMATION GOVERNANCE BOARD:’ “Maher pointed out the inevitable way such an expansion of power will eventually be used against liberals and progressives. ‘Who do you think is going to be the Truth Czar in 2025?’ he asked, implying that it may very well be a Republican appointee if the GOP wins the White House.”

"When Democrats stripped Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments, just as when Harry Reid got rid of the filibuster, they think the worm will never turn.”

    We'll continue to have elections,
We'll continue to have power shift back and forth,
Which means the coercive powers built by one side, will soon be used against the other side.

In time this will produce restraint, caution and better judgment.

0% chance that happens this year and it will be moot in 2023

McConnell will not be majority leader in 2025. They may have 60 so if that is the case it will be moot, but Trump will not allow a filabuster to derail any of his agenda. He has already complained before about McConnell and the filabuster

The dems/msm will complain, but it will be bs -you can't have it both ways

    1. Border walls have never solved anything when it came to immigration. The Great Wall of China was breached a few dozen times with three of the Chinese Dynasties being of foreign origin, namely, Ming, Qing, and Yuan. On the Southern Border, there are places where the border wall will not work such as the middle of the city in El Paso, Loredo, or Brownsville, or in the middle of campuses such as UT Rio Grande Valley or UT Brownsville, which sits on the Texas-Mexico Border, or the National Butterfly Sanctuary was well. It really does not solve the main reason why they are coming over, better jobs and quality of life here than in their home country. As Patton said, "defensive fortifications are a monument to man's stupidity." The defensive fortification in this instance is the border wall. Furthermore, you have never been or lived on the border. It will disrupt the symbiotic relationship that goes on between the US and Mexican sides, economically and culturally. That is why we need to improve, at least help improve, both the economic conditions and law enforcement, in their home countries so that better trade, better opportunities for them and us, and better law enforcement to deal with the criminal gangs in their own country that will reduce illegal immigration. And we also need to incorporate comprehensive immigration reform to deal with the change in migration immigration to better suit the bureaucracy.

    2. I do not believe in conspiracy theories. It shows a lack of intellect, common sense, and critical thinking. If it sounds too good to be true, then it isn't. Even Rep Clay Higgins's latest FB post may technically violate the law, but no criminal charges would ensue. The reason, it is hard to prove intent on social media posts unless it is specific, direct, and imminent. But you don't want that to happen to people on your side, such as Rep Clay Higgins, do you? Or will you just make up excuses just like you make up excuses for the January 6th insurrection? A good detective or police officer will let the evidence take them where the trail lies, not the other way around where you are already found guilty of something and now you want evidence to prove that. That is what Communist and Totalitarian countries do in order to get rid of their critics.

    3. I don't think you know anything about supply chains. Just because you "may do business in over 110 countries" does not mean you know anything about supply chain issues. You do know there are specialists that do that sort of thing, don't you? If you blame Biden for supply chain problems, that does tell me you don't know. Most of what surrounds the Supply Chain issues is outside the control of the legislature and the executive branch unless you think raising tariffs will "bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States." That is complete BS for business and technological reasons. If you want to start a thread specifically on supply chain issues, then start a thread and I will come over and dismantle your arguments, one by one by one.

    4. I think you are confusing competence with political agendas here. Yes, we have too many stupid people, especially in Congress. However, the main issue is that politics gets in the way. You are more than willing to vote for MTG first than for someone who is on the other, a Democrat, who is competent, aren't you? And that is where the problem truly lies. It is why I am an independent and do not always vote for Republican or Democrats. And occasionally, I will vote third party. We can look at abortion here. We have progressives who want abortion on demand no matter what time of month the pregnancy is in. And on the other side, no abortion at all with no exceptions and occasionally trying to criminalize even miscarriages, etc. Neither side is right in this case. We can look at immigration under the same scope. Or national security or domestic issues such as homelessness or business regulation or even Civil rights, which brings me to the next point.

    5. Yes, we are taking away civil rights from LGBTQ people. When you get rid of "gender" and replace it with "sex" in the Civil Rights statutes, you are taking away their civil rights. LGBTQ people fall under a unique situation where neither sex, religion, creed, or race can identify with LGBTQ issues. You may not agree with who or what they are, but they do have rights that are unique to them just as with race or sex or even creed or national origin. That's the part you do not understand and will never will.

    6. This isn't trash. I dismantled your high school thought process here, quite easily. Your name calling will not deter me nor will it help you in your response. Yes, it appears the GOP will take over the house and senate, but at what cost here. Will they act the same way as Democrats when they took over or will they put their big boy pants on and move on, like the 2020 election or anything else?

LOL Alwayssa, you believe in conspiracy theories, but only those promulgated by the federal government and its mainstream media.

We've never met, but most likely you believe arabs with box cutters hijacked 4 airliners and crashed them into WTC. Most likely you believe that the 2020 election was won fair and square, and that the people in Washington on January 6 were intent on insurrection. Likely you believe the Ukrainian government is legit and noble.

    Kranes-
A big problem between parties is the credibility gap. You say the GOP fostered doubts about the 2020 election- but ignore the question that they had grounds to do so. The dems lost to Trump, despite a proven scam to connect him to Russian influence- financed by your won candidate. NO rational person can be free of doubts about people who would tolerate something like that in high office- but the dems do.
Thus- cheating on that scale and at that level is not at all beyond their capacity. The 'Good Name" illusion was wiped out by that.

I fully believe, along with many millions of Americans that the 2020 election was intentionally rigged. IF it were not, I would accept that Biden won, even though I would have seen disaster coming.
A legitimately elected president is president weather you like him or not.

While the dems scream no proof of fraud- they did that when the dossier was labeled as fabricated scam too; it's hardly a credible defense. They have become quite willing to use that kind of tactics. But I agree, we do not have legal "proof". But we do have- is extreme probability, that undermines the view that the lack of documentation or legal proof is the same as innocence. We all have watched magicians do things we knew to be impossible- but virtually everyone of us know that these things are illusions or tricks, NOT magic. The only way a rational man can genuinely believe the election wasn't rigged is to believe in magic, and that rules out rationality.

To make the point of probability simple- lets say we have a cross-country race. Over the hills, through the woods, a marathon. We have some really strong competitors, and we have some very weak ones. That can be assessed in the election by the sheer size of the support- Trump drawing huge crowds, tens of thousands everywhere he goes; Biden never drawing more than a few hundred. This would say pretty clearly that Biden wasn't performing along the way, and it was consistent. This is a race where tens of millions of dollars are invested, and historically- that can't be won by hiding in the basement. That doesn't prevent you from being entered in the race, but it does say your chance of winning is somewhat similar to that of a snowball surviving a week in hell.

So near the finish line, the competitors emerge from the woods- and suddenly, the person who couldn't compete, who campaigned from his basement and who ran like the equivalent of a donkey entered in the Kentucky Derby is suddenly way out front... and you suspect nothing?

The sheer odds against such a thing make some kind of fix not just probable, but virtually absolute. You may not know how the trick was done- but you damn sure know it was a trick. I believe any intelligent man who has the courage to be honest with himself has to know that, and an honorable one has to acknowledge it. The GOP did not tell me to believe that, it was obvious to any observer who cared to look.
No matter who scams who, the scam is on the American people. No matter which party you associate with, you have to know that the integrity of an election must be above and beyond question, or we all lose.

I assume by "Big Boy Pants" you mean forgetting the transgressions and damages done to the nation, and accepting the dems as good ol boys? Of course you do.
And you haven't dismantled squat- that is beyond your capacity. I can't say what the republicans will do, but my hope is they dismantle the bad concepts and replace them with working ones. It's also my hope- and very unlikely- that the democrats will step up and help rather than continue to build roadblocks, manufacture BS and support conflict. IF that miracle were to happen, the door should be open. You can be opposed to any concept without being at war and thinking you must destroy others to get your way. They lost that understanding, and they will suffer until they find it again. Mutual respect opens doors- hate and abuse nails them shut. The dems of today do not understand that.

The concepts of name calling, character assassination and a host of other juvenile tactics was virtually invented or at least brought to a new level by the democrats when Trump ran for office. Never in history has either party stooped so low- or even close. The tools of denial and mirroring are being used everyday. That should be repulsive to any person of character.
    Apparently you didn't notice.
