So, this is wear you post your honest review of the new "Firestarter" movie. I would love to hear anyone else's opinion on it. Personally, without giving out any spoilers, the original picture AND soundtrack were much more preferable than the 2nd one with Zac Efron in it. I would love to speak with you all on this if you reply to this thread.

Read the book in in the 80s - that was good
Saw the Drew Barrymore film when it came out - it was just ok
This film is getting such bad reviews (13% on Rotten Tomatoes) - that I have no desire to see it

I’m a huge Stephen king fan. If it bombed it’s the film makers fault. The book was great. I wouldn’t mind seeing it.

    SPOILER-ALERT DON"T READ UNLESS...

In this version, her dad "pushes" her into blowing up the whole lab with HIM inside! Plot twist for sure. Also, another ending twist was that she ended up taking the hand and guidance of the man who killed her mother. In this one she does not end up in the peaceful care of farmers, she ends up with and trusting the man who killed her mother and tried killing her dad!

There have been so many adaptions of his books in movies/tv

Some amazing films - The Shining, It, Shawshank. and so many forgettable ones

I remember finding Christine in my high school library in the mid 80s and that was the book that got me heavily into him. I read the 500+ page book in a day. I discovered that he had written Carrie which I had read and enjoyed a few years earlier and I started reading every book of his I could find

Last one I read was 11/22/63

Christine was another great 80's thriller, and an excellent soundtrack to boot! John Carpenter

If I had to rank my top 5 Stephen King books

    1) It
    2) Different Seasons
    3) The Stand
    4) Pet Semetary
    5) Christine

2 of his best adaptations came from Different Seasons (Shawshank & Stand By Me). The 3rd, Apt Pupil, was an ok movie, but my favorite of the 4 in the book

I haven't seen the stand or different seasons. Did you like the old "It" or the new one?

He has a new one coming out that I have already preordered. The guy is a raging liberal but I can’t deny the fact he can write a good book. My favorite one had to be *insomnia*. But firestarter was a good one too. After reading that book it makes me want to look into the United States history of testing hallucinogenic drugs on people.

100%! That is, if the information is still available online and hasn't been erased by our corrupt overseers.

Different Seasons - was 4 novellas in one, not one story. The Body (Stand by Me), Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, Apt Pupil and one other

I enjoyed the new It movie (I only saw part 1), but I also liked the ABC mini-series because of the cast

The 90s Stand mini-series was way better than the recent remake

I liked the remake, but the original with Herman Munster was better

I absolutely hate how they change his books for political correctness. Like the outsider series and they change the white blonde investigator for a black girl. Or how they completely ruined his dark tower series. Absolutely nothing like the books.

Seriously… A black girl named Holly Gibney… lol nothing screams political correctness more than that.

Dark Tower books, I could never get into - I read one, thought it was ok, but never read another

Have not read the Outsider, but I think I will do so

Another great collection was the Bachman Books which led to the classic Arnold movie (with a great performance by Richard Dawson), The Running Man

The original "Firestarter" movie had one black in it. The new one has 10.

This is an interesting topic. The dark towers movie also allowed a black man to take a white role. Is that theft of culture like they claimed we do? Totally off subject but it did lead to an interesting point

    Well I guess that's that.

New Firestarter Movie Bombs at Box Office Worse Than 1984 Original

As reported by Variety, Firestarter bombed at the box office even worse than the 1984 original. After its opening weekend, it boasted a very meager $3.8 million. The film had a budget of about $12 million, so it still has a ways to go to break even. Meanwhile, the original 1984 made about $17 million overall at the box office.

This box office flop and its 12% score on Rotten Tomatoes, likely means there will not be a Firestarter 2.

My brother worked as an usher in 84, so I got to see free movies. I saw a "double feature" of 16 Candles & Firestarter one Saturday

I thought the first film was just ok - not one of the better adaptations
