When I went into the US Army over 50 years ago, I took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies; foreign and domestic.
The 2nd Amendment is every bit as much of a Right as the 1st, 4th and other less well known ones.

I fully support the entire constitution not just because of the oath I took but because I have repeatedly seen the truth behind the quote that goes something like: "Those who would surrender freedoms for security deserve neither."

Briefly put, if gun control and licensing schemes worked, how was the Buffalo killer able to do what he did in a state with the strictest gun laws in the country?
Also, there are over 50 countries in the world(1) with nothing like our 2nd Amendment and far stricter gun laws but they all have higher homicide rates than the US.

If stricter gun control and licensing worked, they would work everywhere, not just in the handful of cherry picked European countries that all have more accessible and affordable mental health care.

I'm afraid that we'll just have agree to disagree.

My concern is that even if firearms were unavailable, a determined killer will resort to any one of many much deadlier bombs, Molotov Cocktails, Bio - Chem weapons etc.
