They're just covering their asses=) You think they wouldn't have pushed forward if not for Youtubers, bloggers and Fox exposing them for the corrupt ^$&*#*@ that they are? You actually believe they chose to correct themselves? They didn't correct anything. They just got called out on their corruption and tucked tail and ran before it got worse because what they were planning on doing was indefensible. Your spin is admirable though=)

Truth is gonna truth and liars are gonna lie and this Administration has nothing but lies left. All they can do is toss as much misinformation out there as they can, because its all such a cluster.

No, in this case they actually decided to change the plan because of people getting upset about it. Without real cause, IMO.
I haven't seen many here on this forum who actually understood what they were doing, or wanted to do.
I'll bet you know a will tell me, though.

We could just have a strigent immigration policy and that'd fix that problem for example. But the point is, there's no place for a ministry board in the US and this pathetic administration got handed another L. This year's midterms and the 2024 elections will lead to a new change of the guard.

They had a biased individual who believed Trump was a Russian asset, in charge of determining what was true or not. If you can't find the humor and irony in that, I don't know what to tell you;) What they were trying to do was exactly as 1984 predicted, control the flow of information using a govt body to silence opposition. We all understood it quite well.

I'd be surprised is a single American trusts the government to do that. It would be politicized from the get go.

I think they were going against the wishes of the American people who do NOT want government control over speech except for some radical leftist. I think the concern of the American people is that there are people in government who would establish such a ministry of truth and then through incompetence or on purpose made that twee the other day and I guess what is still on their Tweeter page

    upload_2022-5-18_14-47-54.png

And it took them more than a day to issue a correction. And you know what, six months from now people will still believe it was the Biden administration which brought the vaccine into use.

I hadn't brought Trump up, on purpose. But, since you did, is that like calling the media one doesn't like "fake", or saying "don't believe what you hear or read"?
I haven't seen any verifiable evidence that Trump was a Russian asset, but he sure seemed like it. Probably unwittingly, but his actions sure were odd.
I hadn't seen any evidence that is what the Disinformation Board was designed to do, but I guess everyone has an opinion, that wasn't their stated objective though, and it's understandable that people don't want a government agency that is specifically designed to determine truth.
Disinformation is a problem, but with a free and open society, it's a difficult thing to control, if not impossible.
I see disinformation here everyday. In fact, your premise that the board was intended for that purpose could be disinformation itself.
And it isn't anything new. Governments, individual groups, corporations and people have been practicing it for as long as there has been communication between humans.

Nothing blah blah about it. You didn't know the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" only applied to over-the-air broadcast or that getting rid of that unnecessary dinosaur opened up our political discourse for BOTH sides? Why do you want LESS free speech?

It was intended to control information. Decide on what is truth and what isn't. If the controlling board is already biased and misinformed, what good could they possibly do? I think the simple fact that someone in charge of deciding what truth is, would also believe Trump was a Russian spy, creates a conflict of intelligence.... that's a problem=) And there wasn't ANYTHING credible that would lead one to believe Trump was a Russia asset, unless you actually believed the lies being fed to you. That was the problem. A political party was LYING and created their own intelligence and evidence, and then news organizations were using it as actual evidence. They were lying about the lies. The entire premise was based on LIES, created by his political opponent. It was THAT bad.

FFS, Im referring to a new fairness doctrine that does address' both, and includes digital media

Free speech isn't free when it incites, or lies. There is no right to lie in the constitution.

Removal of the FD did not "open up political discourse", it opened the political conversation up for lies and literal disinformation. Polls show that 73% of republicans believe that the 2020 election was fraudulent. After nearly 2 years, and multiple investigations, recounts, and audits, there is actually no evidence that supports that the election was stolen. Yet still, 73% of republicans actually still believe the lie. That lie is propagated hourly by Fox News and the right wing media-sphere. This nation is divided as far apart as we were just before the civil war, so you cannot think this is a good thing ?

No it didn't. Our society's commitment to free speech predates nationhood.
Of course you are frustrated, you have an Authoritarian Mindset and you live in a constitutional liberal democracy. The answer to bad speech is MORE free speech, not censorship.

You clearly have not seen her TikTok videos. As you search for them, make sure you see the one where she asks who she has to f--k to become rich and powerful.

Biden’s new ‘misinformation czar’ is a Hunter laptop denier.

Although I'm glad they canned Stasi Poppins and paused this misinformation board, it's only a temporary reprieve. It will be back.

I recall to my shock the near unanimous support for this board by the left in the thread about it's creation. Those guys want to censor, and they are going to take another swing at this.

I'll give all credit due to Team Joe for killing their own terrible idea once the backlash and ridicule was too much for them to withstand.

Good job, and congrats on the big win, Biden gang.

It'll be reinstated come November once they need to "correct" all the "misinformation" about ballot harvesting.
