Albany High School student-athletes were booted from practice for wearing sports bras instead of shirts, which led to immediate activism.

Several members of the Falcons were asked to leave practice last week by Ashley Chapple, Albany’s athletic director, for wearing sports bras instead of shirts, according to The Albany Times Union, and they complied. But one sprinter responded by starting an online petition titled “Stop Gender Biased Dress Codes: Allow the Girls Track Team to wear Sports Bras.”

Johnson told The Times Union that Chapple advised them to cover up “because male coaches are around.” The athletes who were booted from practice opted to wear sports bras on a hot, sweaty day while their male counterparts were allowed to go shirtless, which the girls deemed as unfair and had not been the practice before.

Hell, the GOP would have em running in burkas.... or actually, skip the running and start making them babies...

I'm still amazed when I see stories like this in 2022.... a bunch of female athletes are trying to adjust to the heat of running outside in late spring, like the boys, and the morality police show up.

The "sports bras" shown in the photo in the URL are completely age and athlete appropriate. It ain't Victoria Secret out there...

Yeah, I understand the article perhaps gets the suspension part of the story wrong, but I don't care about their argument with the administrators.... Let's stay focused on the practice issue.

I hope they "win" the right to practice (not at a meet) in what helps them perform their best in the conditions.. Anybody disagree?

The girls should get their stories straight. One says the boys were allowed to practice shirtless . The petition says the boys were asked nicely to put their shirts back on.

Got to love journalism these days.

Radical feminists would have them go around topless, and then sue the school for millions of dollars if one male coach even looked at them the wrong way.

This might be one example where Muslim culture has some common sense.

If a girl wants to go topless, FIRST there needs to be a special provision in the law that clarifies that such a girl is not eligible to make any sexual harassment complaints.

The ironic part of your politically attacking op, is that most if not all of the school administration are probably liberals. But I'm sure you'll have an excuse for that

My guess is the school is probably very concerned about lawsuits, which are very prevalent today in progressive-controlled states.

That situation is going to invite a male school employee to do something unbecoming, and the school is going to get sued.

Because men can’t behave themselves? They simply cannot control their sexual urges. Men really are inferior humans aren’t they?

It's not fair to put this all on men.

(And besides, most of you don't believe women can control themselves either, when it comes to abortion, though that's a separate topic)

It is all on men. For goodness sake. If the women is walking around naked it does NOT give any man a single damn right.

If a man can’t handle himself because a girl is in an athlete, he should seek a therapist and get help.

    I am not for abortion!

If the woman is walking around in normal public in a bare bikini, it is unreasonable to expect all men to behave like gentlemen.

Seems like a reasonable request to ask your athletes that include minors to not participate in sports only wearing underwear.

Maybe some of these girls will have their breasts cut off in protest?

It's become a fad these days, with the whole trans movement thing becoming increasingly popular in high schools.

No it doesn’t give them the right to do anything. However if you act stupid, you’re going to get bad consequences. It’s unfortunate but it’s reality.

For instance if I as a honky white redneck and I walk into the blackest most violent blood gang neighborhood in NYC at 2am wearing a blue bandana and playing David Allan Coe “****** Hating Me” on a loudspeaker… am I allowed to do that legally and as a U.S. citizen? Of course. Do they have the right to stomp my ass for it? Absolutely not. But if I’m stupid enough to do so, I have to expect that there are gonna be bad consequences, justified or not.

If you build your house on the side of an active volcano and it blows up or smack dab in the middle of tornado alley and a tornado rips it to shreds… am I going to feel bad for you? Yes of course. But you had to know that was coming.

If a gay guy goes to a Mosque, stands on the sidewalk outside and strips down to a g string and starts twerking, is he legally allowed to do so? Of course. Do they have the right to kick his ass? Of course not. But they are and he had to know they were beforehand. So if he took that risk knowing the consequences were almost entirely bad… well he should have made a better decision.

Even if you’re legally allowed to do something, it’s your responsibility to make decisions which don’t put yourself in danger. And if you’re too stupid to do so, sometimes the law does it for you.

Though I don’t necessarily agree with that policy. I think if you want to be stupid and put yourself in danger that’s your business. But that’s not really how the laws here work.

High school chicks wanna walk around in just bras. If they could pick their dads out of a line up, I wonder what he’d say?

probably “put on a shirt you dizzy cooz you’re in high school” and learn something before getting knocked up. Just when you think you’ve read the dumbest thing on out there someone pulls this. If this wasn’t a school function no one would care.

It amazes me how ignorant liberals are on their opinions of conservatives. It disgusts me how liberals twist and twist reality to their own liking. It is pure evil on their part!

You are the first to to put liberal and conservative in their post. Weird.

It’s track practice. You don’t typically get all covered in clothes for that. Maybe the wrestling team should stop wearing there leotards? Maybe the swim team better start swimming in full clothing.

    Unbecoming??

Jeez... that sounds about as 1950's as the person that said "men are nearby... cover yourselves, ladies"...

If this little bit of comfort on the part of the track team is going to set off a male employee, best we know about it as soon as possible...

Maybe we should parade all the female athletes naked next to each male track coach and measure boner level?? Just to be safe for the future...

Yes, I'm also generally for full hoop skirt and neck bodice when participating in track

Didja see the shorts those gals were wearing? Not even covering the knees.... SHAME!!!

BTW, who gets to define what "underwear" is?? Older white males?

I know... it's a painful reminder of the darker side of your ....... group

I'll try and refrain from mentioning them if it that reduces your participation in the future...
