After going through a cursory review of the posts, seems to be a lot of repeating the same. More guns and no guns will not stop such, let alone his sexuality, nor his politics. There are far too many guns out and arming everyone is a guarantee disaster.

What we had was a breach in security access. Why and how should be completely investigated and appropriate action items carried out.

A perimeter intruder detection system would do wonders, these systems already exist and are very effective in many places. Obviously with grammar schools some adjustments are probably necessary.

Think about if anyone were to try to gain access to school grounds, and are not authorized, the time that would be gained if then a lock down alarm alerted everyone.

True if it’s legal. Care to guess how many people are driving without licenses and without insurance or a valid plate? Loads!!! But most guns used to murder people aren’t obtained or owned legally, You can also steal your grandmas car or any other off the street and use that tool to mow down a crowd of people. Not that it happens often but if someone wanted to do it, it’s A LOT easier than getting a gun.

You can’t just walk into a Walmart and say “that one” and give me that ammo, then turn around and shoot up the store. This isn’t the movies.

This shooting like basically every other mass shooting is due to mental illness/depression and BAD family structure. You just don’t hear about a person with loving parents or a tight family, turning around a killing people. It just doesn’t happen. These people are damaged. Taking away guns from 10s of millions of perfectly fine people who never do anything wrong will NOT stop the deranged people from doing horrible things.

 

Good question, why are we having so many in the recent couple decades. When I was in school, things like this didn't happen and we had students in high school with a hunting rifle in their vehicles. Why are young people capable of killing others. Most of us would never be capable of committing such a terrible crime against innocent lives, so what is making these young adults able to do such a thing. What is happening to our children these days that gets to this point. That's the problem. Whether it's mental illness or the disaster of home life for these kids that's leading to this, that's the cause of this.

There was a school shooting in Houston in 2008, I think, with 10 fatalities. Student used his father's gun, purchased legally. No red flags.

 

It works everywhere in the West.
