The door was open and he simply walked in. A guard napping in the corner office won't help either. What kind of hardening is that? Abbott burned $600 000 000.00 to accomplish nothing.

Well, if that makes no difference, then maybe the other ideas I had might help.

There is no proposed legislation calling for "all out gun bans" by anyone. Please try to deal with reality.

Americans can be trusted with legislating their safety, although some politicians bankrolled by the NRA don't think so.

The gunsters' impotence advocates are squirming:

Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that the Uvalde school shooter had a "mental health challenge" and the state needed to "do a better job with mental health."

In April, the champion of firearm permissiveness slashed $211 million from the department that oversees mental health programs.
Texas ranked last out of all 50 states and the District of Columbia for overall access to mental health care, according to the 2021 State of Mental Health in America report.

The shooty 18-year-old who went on a rampage had no known mental health issues or criminal history. What he had was an AR-15 he easily obtained.

Progressives finally found something to pray for, "Please God, let the shooter be white...we need to get Biden reelected."

    I don't need to it's already proven.

The uvalde shooting absolutely beyond all reasonable doubt proves it.

In Texas there are strict gun control rules regarding schools.

What did the shooter do they just violated that law what's to stop them from violating whatever other log you make?

Laws aren't magical spells that make guns disappear in control the behavior of people.
in the school shooting in uvalde they possessed it illegally it is illegal to have a gun in a school.

Those lunch already exist and they already don't do anything.
allow me to stitch it back together seamlessly for you.

If someone is dead can they shoot people yes or no?

If I have a gun do I have the ability to make someone dead easily from a distance yes or no?

The only answers to both of those questions is yes.

Have you ever wondered why armies carry guns if they can't stop bad guys what the hell do they have them for?

this is a ringing endorsement of your education system
You can't connect to those things to one another.

Even a hard to get gun can still be used to kill somebody. And it's just as easy as walking up and pulling the trigger it doesn't matter how hard it is to get the gun. And I'm not so convinced that they're that hard to get in Canada you just have to cut through a little bit of red tape.

13 had less than 4 victims. That still doesn't prove that the ban did any good.

A young man with mental problems bought two AR-15s for killing children without any difficulty.

You defend laws that allow crazies to arm themselves to kill dozens of innocent people.

The easy availability of guns increases the opportunity to kill innocent people.

Okay since you're in Canada and refuse to learn anything about any other country but yours I'll go out and unlimited actually learn something about Canada.

Let's I live in Canada and I want a gun. I filed the paperwork for a non-restricted firearm I take the exam and pass it I wait my time period for my firearm acquisition license go to the firearm store purchase the firearm legally.

Now let's see after doing this and I decide I want to commit a mass murder I put six rounds in my non-restricted magazine and carry about six other magazines with six rounds in them.

What stops me from walking into a school and shooting children with it?

Did going through the procedure to get a license magically change my mind?

and if he bought them illegally would the children be any less dead?

Why do you always run away from this question?

so does Canada I just read about how you go about getting a firearm in Canada there's no psychological evaluation you may not even have to talk to another person.

Then why aren't there as many mass shootings in Canada. It's perfectly legal to get a gun there you can even transfer them from the United States. Seems pretty easy.

Defensive measures have to layered. In military terms, "defense in depth". The Uvalde shooter should had an obstacle to get on campus, then another obstacle to get inside the building, then another obstacle to get into the classroom. Breaching all three obstacles might be possible (but not probable), but very time consuming, giving the cops time to respond (provided the cops aren't ****ing cowards). There was zilch stopping him from walking into campus, entering the building and entering the classroom.

Again, that’s irrelevant to the level of poverty and state debt. If your people are in poverty and you have massive per capita debt you are not “rich”.

And exactly HOW, in "Beto's" mind or in yours was what happened predictable?

Ramos had no police record, Ramos had no record of 'mental health' problems... in short Ramos exhibited NOTHING that would have excluded him from legally possessing a firearm -- NOTHING!

But, when radical Democrats have a juicy 'crisis' that Rahm Emanuel says must never be wasted, they raise all kinds of hell, suggesting WHAT? That every Republican office-holder everywhere in the country has to be a CLAIRVOYANT MIND-READER?! What a transparent, self-serving, pile of politically-inspired bullshit that is.... :wall:

YOU brought it up and made a false claim that the body armor made it impossible for the cops to take him down. You made that false claim. I simply pointed out it’s a false claim.

Why can’t you deal with that fact?

He is being disingenuous he is pretending as though guns are not easy to get in Canada.

They are very easy to get in Canada. There's a few little bureaucratic hurdles you have to jump over but anybody who's never been arrested like the shooter can easily clear those hurdles.

So when they talk about how magnificent their gun control is they're lying to you.

You may have to jump through another hoop or two but they're easy to get in Canada.

no I'm not. Your entire thread is based on a presumption that guns couldn't do nothing to stop the shooter. When in fact that is exactly what stopped the shooter..... When someone actually went in there and confronted him.

This all seems like a way to excuse schools for letting kids get shot like that.

Nobody ever blames the school and they are responsible they're the ones charged with the care for these kids they make sure that they're stuck in these rooms with only one door out of them so that all someone has to do is walk in there and blow them all away.

His question is disingenuous. I looked up what you have to do to buy a gun in Canada first you have to be 18, you have to have a valid form of ID and no violent criminal convictions and you have to fill out a few papers take a test and go by your gun.

From the sounds of it there's only two very minor hoops that you have to jump through to get a firearm in Canada then you do to get a firearm in the US.

You have to get a license and you have to take a test so I'm curious what in applying for that license or checking some boxes on a piece of paper makes you not insane and been done killing a bunch of kids.

First if à law is still valid, relevant and useful, of course it should stay. However IMO this one is not.
He may have had a squeaky clearn record ( in fact he didn't and any search worth doing would have raised suspicion) but who in their right mind should allow an 18 year old to have TWO semi automatic rifles?? Wouldnt that raise some suspicion??
This is what I mean by outdated law. In the 18th century they wouldnt have dreamed of such a weapon. I very much doubt if any sane lawmaker would have endorsed such a thing as free access to as many as someone wants. It is madness.
In addition the REASON for gun ownership in the amendment was explained and is not relevant anymore. Guns are not used to defend the country from attack or to ensure freedom. They are used as weapon of choice merely to kill people.

And the next time it will be the fault of the armored door, the metal detectors or that the children were not wearing their bulletproof vests when the shooter entered their classroom.

yes there are. Many people are calling for all out bands on what they consider assault weapons.
well I disagree first off interfering with my rights to feel better about doing nothing to stop school shooting isn't about safety. It's about blaming someone else for their ineptitude.

The poll is fake it always has been, maybe people are just lying to the posters. People have been pitching this idea that most Americans want gun control probably since 1787 no they don't if they did they'd have it.

Lie to yourself and believe in some conspiracy where the NRA controls the planet if you must

Greg Abbott is correct in one thing that we need to do a better job identifying helping and treating people with mental disorders but I don't think that would have changed anything.

What you have to do to stop a school shooter is put bullets in their skull.
so if he used a rifle of the same caliber with wood on it to murder a bunch of people that would be better?

I don't understand you people in your obsession with the AR-15 it's like you don't think you can kill somebody with a 30-06.
