to be fair, the 2nd applies to ALL free Americans.... if someone is too dangerous to own a gun, they are too dangerous to be free and walking our streets

I haven't seen any report that stated what either the officers or the shooter were actually armed with. "Assault rifle" can be a number of misnamed semi auto rifles.

I live in one of those states. I don't object to BK checks, but I don't believe they do any good.

To the bold, so your original statement of you need a license to own a matching gun isn’t exactly correct.

If you want to have one that was made this morning, you would need an FFL license which is what dealers and manufacturers get. An individual can get one, but typically they do not seek one as it’s not typically needed. Also, if you are a police officer, no license is needed. There are some other criteria that allow you to own one without a license, but let’s be realistic, you can own a machine gun, you don’t need to be licensed, and frankly, machine guns aren’t much of an issue if at all.

If you want to license all guns, then you have turned a civil right into a privilege and that’s no bueno.

 

Do you have info on the DOJ factoring in which state submits the BK check? I don't see a difference. Where I live, Los Angeles, our gun laws are the most restrictive. Results show that we are no safer as a result.

I do pass 2 schools on my way to the office and notice armed guards escorting students from the car to the building. Its good to see.
