Yea, the reality is your safety is primarily your responsibility. Police response times at the best of times in a big city are usually several minutes bare minimum for life threatening calls, half an hour or more (a couple hours) for non life threatening disturbances.

but In cases where your kids aren’t able to be your responsibility while they are in class and you are at work…well we need police to do better. Private security is more likely than not the future. People just haven’t realized it yet.

 

Our school has private security but it is pretty expensive. We decided to make some financial sacrifices to give our kids the best opportunity but many others don’t have that option unfortunately and we only have one guard — same as this school had I believe.

Why don’t other nations need private security at their schools? Having a heavily armed patrol is something you see in wealthy schools located in third world nations.

 

Other nations do need it, everyone does, everywhere. No area is completely devoid of shootings. It’s just a matter of cost.

imo, we should treat our schools like they have our kids in them and assign several officers or private security personnel to them at all times kids are present. My department has one person assigned to the schools, which is beyond inadequate.

 

But they don’t need it, how many school shootings does Australia average per year? Or New Zealand? Or Canada?
