Why do abortion rights people whine about a group of white men overturning Roe v. Wade?

Who cares about the SCOTUS composition? There should be no law banning abortion.

 

SCOTUS has been stacked with radical rightwing activists who have decided the fetus is a person even though there is no mention of unborn people, fetuses or abortion in the Constitution.

 

You can't just use the 10th amendment to create "rights" for damn near anything.

The Constitution includes no recognition of the fetus as a person. SCOTUS invented the idea.

I don't think you know what the reasoning in Alito's draft opinion is. It has nothing to do with the right or wrong of abortion. He simply recognizes that the issue belongs with state legislatures, not with the Supreme Court. Roe V Wade needs to be reversed.

Roe v. Wade should have struck down abortion laws. If we want to protect the fetus, we can pass a Constitutional Amendment. Even though I don't think we'd make much difference because mid- and late-term abortions are rare and the women who have them would in most cases even leave for Canada to get them. That said, I think such an amendment protecting later term fetuses might pass. We should not be imposing on women, or men to fight in a war, without a strong consensus.

 

Vaccines, perhaps. I'm of two minds on it.

 

I am as anti-vaccine mandate as anyone, but I don't think that vaccine mandates violate bodily autonomy. This is because nobody is actually forcing needles into people's arms. Just like nobody is forcing a woman to gestate if abortion was banned.

I never said it was- if they do that, it is the choice THEY have made. I hold them responsible for their choice, and if I catch them in the act- I make a choice too, and I shoot them. Dead.

I know I've played this "gotcha" game before but whatever words you want to use the intent is obvious and consistent (I usually use "mind" rather than your word sentient, and you've reminded me of why). There is a person in there with a mind. If they recover from the coma, they will still have some semblence of the unique person they have been. They're not gone, just very asleep. An embryo, in contrast, has never been anything, knows nothing, has never felt anything and will never exist mentally unless it undergoes the extraordinary transformation the mother's body facilitates.

 

Because their life isn't uprooted by pregnancy?

What does this have to do with them being WHITE?
