I was just speaking common sense, a loon getting into a trump rally without a gun is less of a threat, then one with a gun

as for banning guns, I agree, not possible, I think what most want though is just to make ar-15's harder to buy

I support the 2nd, in fact I think we are safer because of it, but I think we can have some limits, like machine guns and ar-15's

And then when someone else uses a semi-automatic rifle you want to ban those two

That is the weakness of representative democracy. The elected officials do what the people who elected them want them to do.

However, in this case, it was the decision of the Secret Service no to allow guns during Trump's speech.

The thing is, there's nothing idiotic about it. What's idiotic, or worse, is living in the only developed country in the world experiencing an epidemic of gun violence and thinking nothing should be done about it.

There are around four hundred million guns out there. Who do you think will give up their guns? It will be the good guys like me. Meanwhile, for decades, the bad buys will keep theirs and we will be defenseless.

Raising the age to purchase an AR style gun is a minimal starting point.

Why 18-Year-Olds In Texas Can Buy AR-15s But Not Handguns

The fact that the gunman responsible for this week’s massacre in Uvalde, Texas, was able to buy two AR-15s days after his 18th birthday highlights how much easier it is for Americans to purchase rifles than handguns.

Under federal law, Americans buying handguns from licensed dealers must be at least 21, which would have precluded Salvador Ramos from buying that type of weapon. That trumps Texas law, which only requires buyers of any type of firearm to be 18 or older.

Following Tuesday’s massacre at Robb Elementary School, which killed 19 children and two adults, a growing number of lawmakers in Texas and beyond are calling for the minimum age to purchase assault rifles to be raised to 21 from 18. Doing so would require undoing nearly two centuries of more permissive regulations on so-called long guns.

If you feel restating their stated position is misrepresenting it, so be it.

I never said to bad the ar-15, just make them harder to get, a semi-automatic rifle should be harder to get too

What evidence do you have that would make school children any safer? At eighteen, they can join the military and then they get to fire real military weapons, not just "look alikes" that no military organization would ever use. I have no particular objections to raising the minimum age, but I doubt it will change much.

I love these comments that demonstrate that liberals hate the US Constitution. Such comments let people know that at best liberals represent a lite form of communism.

FYI, the "geniuses", a term you use with obvious sarcasm, who wrote and ratified our constitution created a form of government that allowed for the passage of the 13th Amendment and will allow for the revocation on the 2nd Amendment. So liberals need to stop bashing the people that created this great country and move to revoke the 2nd Amendment. Please do this before the next election. Of course, if living under the US Constitution is so onerous liberals are free to leave at any time. Perhaps to Australia or the EU.

Wasn't it the US Constitution that associated gun ownership with freedom?

Many of what you call advanced nations would not even exist if not for the US. I personally don't give a flying [expletive] about your so called advanced nations and any appeal by you or others for making decisions based on a love of globalism. There are many nations, like North Korea, Cuba, etc. that are oppressed because there is no gun ownership. Owning a gun is a capital crime in Cuba. That country must be a liberal paradise.

Good for thee but not for me?
Oh no, not at all. Its good for both of you.
If you think associating yourself with Trump over your own entitlement claims is a good thing, far be it from me to hold you back. lol
But I have to confess. Wasn't expecting that admission. lol

Is Connie some imaginary nemesis of yours we don't know about? Sounds exactly like Amber Heards testimony.

You, don't have anything again so, there you go, right off the rails. My point, as you are well aware, was, obviously, "I" was joking, but you and Cury wouldn't accept it because it was a great opportunity to "stick it to me".
Connie is you, who else shits the bed with their every word; you connie, only you. 8)

You seem to claim you're joking a lot lately. Usually the same time you expose your actual thoughts in a post where you stick it to yourself. lol Then blame others? Even funnier.
For someone who loves quoting Mark Twain, you seemed to have missed the one about It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt

No, first time. I quote Mark Twain, when responding to you, because it fits so well for your long list posts. But that's good advice, you should head it.

    lets try this.

what check or balance can stop a unitary executive doing anything he wants?

"a lot of people don't know this, but i have article 2 that says i can do anything i want." trump

and how in hell do you jump from "maybe every lunatic shouldn't have a firearm" to "hate the constitution " and "a light form of communism?"

    This from the Alzheimer's Association:

"Firearms and other weapons can be found in households across the country. In most situations, their presence creates no problems for responsible gun owners and others in the household. However, if someone in the home is living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia, firearms can pose a significant risk for everyone.

For example, as the disease progresses, the person may not recognize someone he or she has known for years and view him or her as an intruder. With a gun accessible, the result could be disastrous. Even if the person has past experience with guns, his or her current abilities will be altered because the safe use of firearms requires complex cognitive abilities and quick decision-making skills, which may be compromised due to dementia."

More Guns Do Not Stop More Crimes, Evidence Shows
More firearms do not keep people safe, hard numbers show. Why do so many Americans believe the opposite?
    https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/more-guns-do-not-stop-more-crimes-evidence-shows/

Does a Gun Make Your Home Safer?

Statistically, having a gun in your home is more dangerous for you and your family, especially if you have young children or teens. A 2014 review in the Annals of Internal Medicine concluded having a firearm in the home, even when it’s properly stored, doubles your risk of becoming a victim of homicide and triples the risk of suicide.3
    https://www.safewise.com/resources/guns-at-home/

Will a Gun Keep Your Family Safe? Here’s What the Evidence Says
The pandemic has inspired a surge in gun sales, but research shows that having a firearm in the house won’t necessarily help in a dangerous moment — and it will heighten other risks.
    https://www.thetrace.org/2020/04/gun-safety-research-coronavirus-gun-sales/

As with all things, I follow the facts.

Your facts do not take into account one very significant fact. The statistics do not take into account how many houses were not broke into because there was a good chance the owners did possess guns.
