If you don't want to "answer the door" past a certain time, that's your perogative. However, what I do not expect you to do is to shoot through the door without inquiring first who it is and what the person is doing or how that person's demeanor is. You can do that through the peephole of your front door or if you have one of those doorbell video cams, that will work as well. If you fail to do that, then manslaughter or 2nd degree homicide will be the least of your worries after I had intorrogated you, given your miranda rights, and book you. This won't even work with "stand your ground" laws because some Florida Judges, with Florida Appeals Courts affirming that is not "what a reasonable person would do" in that si\tuation. I know you will probably find an example or two where it worked, like in Louisiana for instance, but that is the exception, not the rule.

Warning someone is probably the most prudent thing to do. Legally, in some states, it may be "required" to show that self defense was justified. It is not written in law, but it does show your intent that you had no choice. That is what self-defense is, a no choice situation where you reasonably believe your life was in danger. Warning someone gives you that legal requirement in court and to the jury. But also use your god given common sense to make that determination first. And that is the point.

Too many people are watching YT and other Social Media sites where a person tries to take a unique situation and try to make it universal and apply it to everyone. That is complete BS.

    That is a ridiculous argument.

Do I think people are careless when they discharge a firearm, even in fun? yes, absolutely. Do I think some people will do or say anything to get out of a legal jam, including discharging a firearm and killing someone? Yes, absolutely. But that is why the law applies facts and circumstances to the situation. There is really no carte blanche approach here. The guidelines are just that, guidelines such as probably warning someone, or inquiring who is at the door or whatever. What get's a lot of people in trouble is doing something blindly without thinking things all the way through. That is how most criminals and persons who break the law get caught.

I don't have a gun. That's why I just don't answer the door past a certain time and quietly call the police

You can use a baseball bat, a knife, or any other weapon if your life depended on it. But you missed the point I was making though and concentrating too much on "gun" or "firearm."

When I was in college at some cheap college apartment, a person broke into my apartment in the middle of the night. I took a toaster oven and threw it at the person, then I took a butcher's knife and prepared myself. Once he saw the knife, he ran away. I was 20 years old and the University was not in the best of neighborhoods of the city despite it being an expensive, private university. What bothered me the most of the incident was not the intruder, but the apartment complex who thought it was my fault for this guy to break into the flimsy front door of an apartment.

    We've been through that.

    1) There is no specific Constitutionally Guaranteed right to vote as there is with the right to keep an bear arms.

    2) Any person needs an ID cash a check at a check cashing place is they're too poor to have a bank account, if they have a bank account then they needed one to open it. If they are receiving any Government benefits such as Medicaid.

You have to be poor to get Medicaid. It's obvious they have ID's to get Government benefits. Spare me the debunked arguments. Poll tax......hardly.

No. People do not want to be robbed or raped or murdered and will use lethal force to prevent this as is our right. Not everyone has your awesome powers of awareness to avoid criminals, maybe people should hire you.

Or maybe most people should just eschew the "you talkin' to me?" exercises a gun seems to make them perform and people should just go back to the application of rudimentary common sense.

who the f are those imaginary people? Once again the fantasy of what people should do. They shouldn’t be committing crime then this wouldn’t be an issue, yes?

No, no it is not. It's criminals who create the issue and you're running away from another wild statement you cannot prove.

A perfect example of a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun. Liberals said this never happens.

But WHY do they create the issue?

You're like somebody who wants to suffocate their baby to stop it from crying while ignoring the diaper rash that's making it cry.

It's funny how all the Democrats discuss is ways to disarm legal gun owners but I haven't seen them say a damn single word about how to take guns out of the hands of criminals

Some is poverty, most is culture. No fathers in the home, etc. it’s a multi faceted issue

You may want to look at the 19th amendment of the Constitution, which says, "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex." This amendment implies the right to vote and specifically mentions that the right to vote shall not abridge based on sex, which basically allowed under the US Constitution, the women the right to vote.

In the original Constitution, the elections clause in Article 1 states that Congress has the power and authority to determine the "time, place, and manner" of congressional districts. Congress has used this authority for the Voting Rights Act and other laws to provide uniformity and clarity of who can and cannot vote while allowing states to enforce, maintain, and verify those who can and cannot vote. Proir to that, and the Civil War, anyone who was a white male and owned property can vote. There was no "citizenship requirement" at that time. However, with large immigration populations, such as the Irish and French, then the "citizenship clause" became paramount and by 1903, Arkansas became the last state to allow only citizens to vote.

Furthermore, after the Civil War, the 14th, 15th, 17th, 19th, and 26th amendments added additional protections on who can vote. The 24th amendment banned the use of the poll tax, which had an adverse affect on poor people to deny them the vote.

Some things do require an ID, but requiring an ID in check cashing is not a right, is it. And do don't really need an id for a bank account although that is what most reputable, if not all, will do. I know banks here that don't require any form of ID and they tend to be business accounts.

Furthermore, the Government, both state and federal, now use EBT cards for most government assistance programs to eliminate as much possible fraud. This is the case whether you have a bank account or not.

In order to obtain Medicaid, your assets cannot be more than $3000, if under 65 be disabled and receive either SSDI and/or SSI, or 65 or older receiving SS and/or SSI. However, medicaid pays directly to the physician or medical practice if they accept Medicaidpatientss.

No one is trying to disarm you here. The whole point is to try to prevent as much as possible those that are not allowed to own or possess a firearm from obtaining one unless they break the law. That's the whole point of all the common-sense approaches. A few Democrats are tying to ban "assault weapons" but that will not pass Constitutional law or the Supreme Court since the Heller case was decided.

When Democrats tell you they don't mean to ban all guns they are either lying to you or badly misinformed about the agenda of their own party.

Tell me what makes you think criminals will suddenly start obeying gun laws when they've been ignoring them forever?
