Serious question? Well of the three options (citizenship, practice and/or profess) the first two are no brainers. Profess? That's possibly a bit more, I guess tenuous would be the best descriptor and could perhaps be argued to vary on case by case basis. I'm no expert on the topic and haven't researched it. But a Jewish woman marrying into the gentile community and then her female descendants all doing the same for 10 generations? Sounds like a question for Rabbi.

I'm a historian so that's what ido. Yes Donetsk was one of the best teams in Europe a few seasons ago but then Ukraine started bombing them. They have a lot of Brazilians living there. Russian teams began to invest heavily in Brazil and so many players came over to Russia and took on russian citizenship.

 

No. Go back and re-read my original post. I criticized the Ecclestone as a supporter of Putin based on his past actions and statements. His f'ing religious beliefs or lineage, whatever they are had ZERO to do with it. Another poster raised the issue of Ecclestone's alleged 'Jewishness', not me. This was done in an attempt ( I presume) to cast my remarks as somehow being antisemitic. (Which if nothing else shows how desperate and lacking in moral scruples some people on the pro-Russian side of this thread really are.)

And so one more time for you - because you obviously failed to grasp (or have deliberately chosen not to) what was actually posted.

My response to that allegation was that, as far as I was aware there was no evidence that Ecclestone was;

a) A citizen of Israel;
b) An active adherent of Judaism;
c) Had at any time publicly asserted a connection 'Jewishness' on the basis of familial linage.

Which doesn't mean he is not a citizen, an adherent or has in fact has publicly proclaimed at some time a connection to Judaism, just that I could not find/am not aware any such. And if you can produce confirming any of the three points above? Fine, well done! All you proved is that Ecclestone is or at least has claimed to be Jewish at some time in the past.

Which, in the end has absolutely NOTHING to do with what I actually posted. Now are we done here? Or do I have literally to send you drawings in crayon to get the point across?

Read up on Ecclestone. If you were in the dock in desperate need of character witness would you choose him? His comments on Hitler are just one example of why you almost certainly wouldn't. In any event this entire stupid discussion only started because someone else held him up as an 'exemplar' of courage etc etc for supporting Putin. I responded to that comment by pointing out some (not all ) of the reasons why this was not the case. His comments on Hitler perhaps being the least of it but also probably the most well remembered. And also doubly relevant since according to Putin this war is in large part about defeating 'Nazism'. And come on, I ask you, would he lie about something so important?

 

Ukraine = worthy victims while Yemen = unworthy victims.

The reason, UK is funding the Saudi slaughter of Yemen children. It would mean the EU putting sanctions on UK which clearly won't happen because Europeans are the biggest hypocrites ever.
