Kagan elaborated that the Earth was "now warmer than any time" in modern history, highlighting the importance of scientific research on carbon dioxide contributing to global warming. She also wrote global warming could be the cause of "4.6 million excess yearly deaths."

Well, a Justice dissented not because of the Constitution, but she feels her position on the bench is for legislating her beliefs. Then, she writes utter garbage not factual based to boot.

In the 80's we were told a global freeze was happening due to aerosol. Our scientific knowledge is nowhere near capable enough to predict the earth's constant changing temperatures. One of the biggest problems is the dataset is so small compared to the earths age. Flawed data input equals flawed data interpretation.

So, the same government that can't close the border or keep fentanyl from flooding our streets can stop the 20,000 year trend of oceans rising? Are they really this dumb, or, are they confident that their audience is?

It's not her job to legislature. We are a Free People, our ELECTED legislators write out laws, not unelected judges. The Supreme Court Just Dealt a Major Blow to the Green Left—and a Major Win for Democracy.

"The Supreme Court has handed down another win for skeptics of progressive overreach. On Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency does not have the authority to set national energy policy and regulate carbon emissions from power plants. The ruling was a blow to the Biden Administration, which has pursued an aggressive clean energy agenda. But it was a win for democracy—as well as for a politically sustainable approach to climate change."

The EPA does not currently have this grant of power, but, our elected legislature is more than free to grant it, if that is their wish.

"Major policies shall have approval from elected representatives rather than being handed down from the bureaucratic Olympus."

"The Supreme Court's primary objection to the Obama-era limitations on power plants: These limitations were never passed by Congress but imposed by decree. In this, SCOTUS identified a frightening trend that has been building for decades under both parties, and has worked to overcome it; what kind of policies we enact, and how draconian they should be, should be left to the people's representatives, the Court has ruled. Our legislative electeds may not always be the brightest bulbs, but that hardly matters. What matters is that they are accountable to us."

"The green movement's modus operandi is to couple relentless exaggeration and predictions of imminent doom with a barely disguised desire to exercise direct, unconstrained control over the everyday lives of citizens, much like the medieval Catholic Church, or Stalin. For some of the Green New folks, the draconian lockdowns from the pandemic were not so much a tragedy but a "test run" for the kind of rule by a global technocracy that some progressive pundits now seek to impose."

"Clearly, this is not compatible with the notion of a self-governing Republic. If climate policies are important, it might make sense to ask the public what policies they would like to see. But to date, there has been little political participation by the bulk of the citizenry in climate policy. Instead we've been treated to a toxic combination of progressive authoritarianism and a Right-wing refusal to confront the issue at all."

Global warming is about making money off of fear, as in selling a compound to LA so they can paint their streets white. Or it’s about wealth redistribution as per numerous people who worked at the UN and quit because of it.

The anti science people are overwhelmingly young leftists. There is a difference between trusting science and being so sheepish you can’t do the most scientific thing you can do…and that’s question authority.

You of course are incredibly wrong. The entire world knows that rightists are anti science and want to burn the world down. Thank God these anti science boomers days are numbered and planet earth will heal once they are gone.

Incorrect, I am spot on as usual. The anti science members of society are young leftists, so socially engineered to just say “yes” to authority lol. The most scientific thing you can do is question everything you know to be true.

I can't wait for the media to go into overdrive how a Supreme Court Justice oversteps their boundaries on a case, especially when she has zero knowledge on the subject.

Kagan? Well, c'mon man! What should we expect from some partisan, hyperliberal stooge put on the court by "Messiah" Obama?!

BTW, Kagan has a Master's Degree... in something called, "Philosophy in Politics"... obviously this qualifies her to pontificate about the ocean swallowing the East Coast, etc.

Fun fact: at last count, the dreaded CO2 makes up approximately 0.04% of the Earth's atmosphere!

Once we set aside politically/ideologically-motivated palaver and look dispassionately at the facts at our disposal, we find that climate change is occurring in many areas of the globe and global warming is also happening. The interrelationships of the two can be complex and attempts to assign probabilities can require sophisticated statistical procedures.

The data thus far points to a continuation of global warming.

That's where it stands. Some people will make pronouncements about it, but unless these are informed by rationality, we do well to disregard them.

    Hi, straight ahead.

'Climate' refers to the conditions that obtain in a specific area: rain forest, desert, etc.. World-wide temperature -- global -- can be stable, increase or decrease. It may show variation from year to year, so a number of years of data are required to detect a trend.

There are a number of excellent books available which cover this in detail.

Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n remember the Big 5.

Well, the only good news about any possible climate disaster on the East Coast is that Floriduh goes first....

We better get busy on that Georgia/Alabama wall.....

The left doesn’t read books, they worship the news. If the news tells them to believe something, we’ll…they believe it.

    Hi, Egoboy.

A rational response would be to note that the people who identified with the 'MAGA' movement are identified by that characteristic only. There is no reason to believe, a priori, that they can be identified by any other common characteristic without confirmable evidence.

    Hi, Moolk.

Thank you for your post. Rationally, your first sentence can be falsified by a single person who A) is identified as a member of the 'left' and, B) has read at least one book. It's my guess that's relatively easy to do.

In addition, 'the news' can include sources such as Fox news, National Review and RedState.

Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n remember the Big 5.

    Hi Torus34,

Rationally, the first sentence of my argument cannot be falsified by someone who just “claims” to be on the left or has “claimed” to read one book, as many people “claim” things but that doesn’t make it true. So you are incorrect. And the evidence points to me being correct.

It’s also true that the vast majority of the news is very left wing, despite there being some cross over.

But regardless, stay safe and well and remember to always question authority!

    Hi again, Moolk.

I reread my post carefully and could not find the word 'claim' in it.

    I stand by my comment.

    Regards, enjoy the holiday.
