This is a well-orchestrated political campaign that takes in the internet and the media. I have never seen anything like it.

Only a complete idiot would be unaware that Obama got NATO nations to agree to increase military spending in 2014 and that those naitons were doing so before Trump became President. Only a complete idiot would be unaware that Trump was hostile to NATO and damage relationships with America's allies in Europe. Only a complete idiot would deny the leadership role Biden has taken during this crisis, helping to pressure some of the more reluctant NATO members and negotiate with others (such as Turkey).

Clearly Putin's behaviour is the main driver of the rapid change we have seen, but only a complete idiot would claim it is the only factor in what is happening. An idiot like that might get all sorts of things wrong.

I wasn't aware that I had commented on the position of the Malaysian government, so I'm not going to waste time 'proving' a point I haven't made. There is ample evidence to support the statements I have made and you know it. Of course, you can't even prove points you do make, so you are hardly in a position to demand anything.

That is why I can't even be bothered asking you to provide a credible source for your claims that 12,000 civilains died in Donbas between 2014 & 2022. We both know you can't, and there for won't, do it.

Hence the propaganda about Russia shooting down the Malaysian plane. A plane in Ukraine controlled territory. A plane that John Kerry said the US had satellite tracking proof of missiles coming from Russian territory....said proof never supplied....to anyone. You and Kerry - no difference.

Obama's failures are a separate question. What caught the Pootster's attention was Trump's antipathy to NATO.

Oh absolutely they did...its actually a fascinating story of Russian nerds and US/UK nerds pooling their nerdiness and coming up with a really clever proof which they gave to the Dutch investigation team who were absolutely gobsmacked at how acurate it was. If it wasn't for the Russians then it would have been almost impossible to get to the bottom of it.

It's all to do with the Russian hatred of bad parking...people used to take pictures of badly parked cars with smart phones and load them up on websites that "named and shamed" the owners....this spiralled until they had teams nerds collecting number plates and data basing them. These private data bases started with private cars then expanded into commercial, diplomatic and finally military vehicles. They held pictures with number plates and all sorts of details....anyway very long story short the nerds identified rocket launchers moving into the rough location of the launch and tracked the units and vehicles and finally found one launcher that entered the area with a full load of missiles and then left after the aircraft was hit with missiles missing...because they knew the full details of the vehicle they tracked it to various locations, they found out who the duty crew were and found out the guy the launched the missiles....

For a closed society Russia has absolutely no secrets as all the data these nerds collect they share with other groups of nerds round the world. There are nerds that collect train loco/carriage numbers and load them up detailing where they saw them when they saw them, same with ships and planes and and and....there is no hiding from the nerds

    Weaponry that changes the balance:
U.S.-supplied HIMARS changing the calculus on Ukraine’s front lines
    17 hours ago

". . . After public frustration over Western delays in transferring promised heavy weaponry, specifically multiple-launch rocket systems such as the HIMARS, the Ukrainians have quickly put their new hardware to work more than four months after Russia launched its full-scale invasion. Kuzya and his comrades said their targets so far have focused on Russian command posts — warehouses where enemy officers and weaponry were stationed.

Ukrainian officials say the new Western materiel is already making a difference on the battlefield — a testament to the importance of continued security assistance and the painful cost of slow-moving deliveries as the Russian military slowly expands its control in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region. Artillery strikes from French self-propelled howitzers stationed in the port city of Odessa reportedly forced the Russians to withdraw Thursday from the strategically important Snake Island in the Black Sea. . . . "

Agreeing to increasing spending and actually doing it are two very different things. Just because I pledge money doesn't mean I actually spent the money. If you have kept up with current events you would know Chancellor Shultz of Germany increased defense spending, Merkel never did.

I think Ukraine is what caught Putin's eye, He thought it would be a walk in the park but it was not.

He thought it would be a walk in the park in part because he did not expect a resolute, united NATO.

I think he expected it to be a swift conclusion and NATO would be irrelevant. It was the strong resistance of the Ukrainian people and military that kept the country alive that allowed outside forces to provide the military aid needed.

....beware the nerds....they are coming for you....;)....they also waded through a ton of twitter accounts and noted the movement of the BUK launcher on its way through Zuhres and Shakhtersk en route to Torez along the H21....anyway....don't worry the Russians have also expended a crap load of time trying to trash the evidence which went further than a "good luck with that" The general consensus after the Russian MOD marathon press conference was "they protesteth just a bit too vigourously!" which usually means its true. Anyway I'm with the nerds on this one.

That's what you thought and the false narrative the western media spread. Russkies knew it was going to be tough. The Ukrainian army has been preparing for years. Well trained and fortified positions. They also outnumber Russkies 3.5/1....at least used to. Considering the number of killed, injured and captured Ukrainian soldiers that ratio probably changed into Russian's favour.

Na .. I will go with the "complete idiot" rendition .. although that is a bit harsh ... Either way .. Biden had nothing to do with NATO increasing spending.
