Prediction: Donnie ******bag will use the occasion of the 4th to announce his 2024 run, to pre-empt possible indictments emerging from the 1/6 dog & pony show.

Between the two choices, DeSantis would be more likely. Trump will be too old.

    Junior?

Sadly he's dead but would have made a fine chief executive.

If Donald J. Trump announces his intentions to run.......
everybody else will withdraw from the race or be rapidly defeated.

I think DeSatan and others would challenge him and, given how damaging the Big Lie is to the Republican party as well as the nation at large, defeat him. No matter how many so-called Republicans embrace Trump and his stupidity, he managed to lose after just one term after scraping a win in 2016 only because so many people disliked or downright hated Hillary Clinton. His popularity won't be any better in 2024, and even a lot of Republican voters will be ready to move on from him.

Good one. Except even if it were Ronald McDonald he would still make a better president then the walking corpse you've elected because you voted with your emotions.

    Lol

Today, I'd have to go with DeSantis. I think the GOP expected red wave which won't happen will open some more Republicans on how much of a liability Trump is to their cause. Especially among independent voters who decide national elections. DeSantis is basically Trump 2.0 without the obnoxious, rude persona, without the spoiled brat childish antics like name calling and throwing of temper tantrums. DeSantis can attract more independent voters than Trump could ever dream of.

But the Republican Party first must come to their senses. That may or may not happen.

DeSantis seems to be the consensus, but I think a dark horse is Pence. In the end, he refused to follow Trump's orders, and he is not stained by Jan. 6th. He is gentlemanly, very experienced, not too old, articulate, and has solid conservative credentials. Against any Democrat, I think he would win. In my opinion, he would be the candidate the Democrats would least want the Republicans to nominate. Democrats would cast DeSantis as being Trump 2.0. That would be much harder to do with Pence. Conservative? Yes. But like Trump? No.

I think you should work on gathering your strength up to not becoming an emotional wreck in 2024 when the Republicans win back the office.

That's just a suggestion though, by all means I look forward in reading many a distraught post of outrage over the election results!

Here's something I finally agree with the National Review/Rich Lowry on

    SNIP
In a tweet sharing his column, Lowry wrote: “No, DeSantis Isn’t Worse Than Trump.”
    ENDSNIP

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/national-review-editor-desantis-isn-204207207.html

100% agree.... they suck equally... I was tempted to add that DeSantis is probably smarter than T****, but on first thought, he probably isn't.... The best I can say about DeSantis is he hasn't attempted to overthrow an election he lost.... yet

I really do like Mayor Pete... he's a smart young dude... I'd have no problem jumping on that wagon....

It probably will be Trump, although I'd a hell of a lot rather it were someone else, like Tom Cotton.

I think the Republicans have a very good chance t taking the whitehouse in 2024, but I think if Trump is the nominee, there is a very good chance they don't take it. I think they will be shooting themselves in the foot if that is their choice. It would be like the dems running hillary (or Biden) again.

Too many republicans are corporate shills, Warhawks, authoritarians. The middle class blue collars who voted for Trump will turn away from certain Republicans who might sell us out. No thanks. I'd write in vote.
