The problem with America is that it’s citizenry no longer shares common values, beliefs, etc.. Hell, even the language barrier is becoming split. A country is doomed when it’s people have nothing in common with one another. That spells disaster whether you want to admit it or not. What we are seeing now are just the earlier stages of the incoming disaster. It is what it is. All good things come to an end. The greatest and most powerful civilizations ever created have all fallen. So will the United States.

Not entirely, South Asians have British accents and nothing sounds smarter to Americans than a British accent, not even the clipped and very precise pronouncing of what I call the "learned French," (listen to Captain Picard one time, and no, that's not just an affectation, I have heard native French speakers who actually do sound that way when they speak English. What in heck? No, Indians do not have British accents! They have INDIAN accents. And Chinese have CHINESE accents. And Nigerians have NIGERIAN accents.

None of them sound British, not even slightly. What you're talking about is simply being well spoken. Have a decent vocabulary, good diction, , and good elocution. Accent is not related at all. Anyone, from any background, can be well spoken. It's a function of the way parents speak in the home, and to a lesser extent how those in their community speak. If parents make the effort to speak well, and speak to their kids a lot, using a lot of different words to build vocabulary, their kids will be likewise. It's all a choice.

 

Abu on the Simpsons was just well-spoken? OK, that answers why they get along better than most American blacks pretty well too.

Consider the life of a Yankee factory worker
compared to a slave.

A slave was valued property.
A Yankee factory worker gets ill or injured -
just hire a replacement.
etc.


If some Yankees bought some plantations,
freed their slaves, paid for "work" - in plantation script
accepted at the local plantation store, against rent + expenses
and bound their employees until their debt is paid full -
the economic short comings of slavery would have been
demonstrated against the Yankee system.
