Many people swear by this diet, that it is especially good at ridding people of autoimmune problems, including arthritis, IBS, and depression.

Now, of course anecdotal evidence must be viewed with caution, but, finally, there is a study conducted of 2029 people and it looks promising.

Note that, as I investigate this, there are support groups, many YouTube videos on the right way and wrong way to do this, etc., There are doctors who support this, including a heart surgeon.

    The study:

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34934897/

The study shows promising results, but 'long term effects require further study', but this lady has been on the diet for over 13 years

She is over 40 and looks amazing. The only exercise she does is walking.

To find out all about it, plus it is necessary to be aware that transitioning from a typical American Diet, or a vegetarian diet to a carnivore diet will cause your body to adjust, and problems will arise for about a month, ( having to go to the bath room a lot ) but, apparently, the gains are wonderful and the problems will fade as your body does an 'oxylate dump' (or something like that, I think that is what it is called). Go on YouTube and listen to vides on the 'Carnivore Diet" I know a lot of this is the descendant of the Atkins diet and the carnivore diet is a animal products only version of the keto diet, but check it out, listen to the videos, see what you think. [

Feed back welcome. I'm thinking about going on this diet, because I've tried just about everything, but this. So, what the hell, why not give it a shot.

I"m not an expert, your mileage may vary. Let me know what you find out.

I'm guessing by "carnivore diet" you are referring to some version of a Keto diet, or do you mean just eating meat?

I like meat but that would get boring fairly quickly. In my own life I try to watch my carbs and most days keep them under 50 grams, and I do feel better now than I do in the days when it was all carbs, all the time.

Well, a lot of those problem can be solved by simply being very careful which type of plant foods enter the diet, and only needing to eat smaller portions of meat.
Meat, peas, carrots and potatoes is a good meal. It's kind of absurd to eliminate all plant foods simply because a small number of them are causing the problems.

There is some truth that the body does not digest many plant proteins very well, and many of these plant proteins can be mild allergens. But fortunately the body does not really need that much protein, so you do not really need to eat too much meat.

And part of this "meat based" diet might simply be a high fat, no carbohydrate (Atkins) diet, which could explain some of the success. There should be healthier ways to be able to do that. The high fat, no carbohydrate diet can be healthy in some ways, but longer term there can be cardiovascular problems depending on what type of fat it is.
Maybe a small portion of meat with some healthy types of plant fats would be healthier.

There are several different diets that, if you combine it with exercise, can make people look "fantastic".

The question is what is it that is unique about this diet that is so beneficial?
Is it really because it is all meat? Or is it because it cuts out carbohydrates and sugars?

I think genetics plays a big part. Check out "Eat right for your type". Hunter gatherer O-blood types do well with meat.

Though there may be a heart surgeon who is in favor of it, there is also one extremely prestigious heart surgeon, Steven Gundry, who is dead set against it. He says that meant raises one's level of growth hormone, and this has been linked to greater likelihood of heart attack, and just earlier death. You should be able to find him online: he's Tony Robbins' doctor, & hawks a bunch of his own wares, but all for your better health, of course.

If I were going to try this (which I probably wouldn't), I would restrict myself to only game meats. Conventionally raised meat is dosed with too many steroids, and antibiotics, to be good, as the staple of your diet.

I have seen them all and I have never been a fan of exclusionary and restrictive diets. I am not going to start by being a fan of this one. I like balance. I like moderation. I like a little 'cheat' now and again. I like portion control.

True and we've all heard about those who train, look good, then one day they drop dead due to a blood clot or something.
However, the gal in the video only walks, no hard training, and she looks fantastic.
The latter, because the diet is.....

Low in oxalates, but there are veggies and other foods that are low in oxalates, as well.

Carbs and sugars are high in oxalates, in other words, it's the Keto diet that is low in oxalates.

So, my research is pointing towards keto ( best for those of us with autoimmune issues, such as chronic fatigue, arthritis, etc ).

Not everyone needs this, however. I don't buy any doctrine that says 'one size fits all'.

Exactly. Too much meat puts a strain on the system. There are also a lot of toxins to remove ( inherent to excessive meat eating)

carnivore does not have to be a excessively high protein diet, just lower the carbs

when an obese person loses weight (eats their own animal fat on their body) they get healthier

to lose weight, lower both the carbs and the fat, once you reach your ideal weight you can increase the fat in your diet again as your body is supplying it while losign weight

sugar feeds cancer, so that is the biggy, excess carbs are also the cause of much of the cardiovascular and heart disease

blood based cancer is the tricky one, as your body even on low carb will have glucose in the blood

This makes sense. And to add to that the low carb diet avoids sugar spikes that are said to damage the body in various ways, especially if you're a bit older and less active.

I think you have been somewhat misinformed. Small amounts of oxalates do not hurt too much, they mostly just bind to calcium, making calcium absorption more difficult.
If you have a link to oxalates not being good for another reason, then please post it.

Maybe you are getting confused with carbohydrates.

Large amounts of red meat are also not considered good for those with those issues.

I claimed that the keto diet is for foods low in oxalates, that is not a claim of zero oxalates.
The carnivore diet seeks to lower the oxalates even more.
    Nope.
No one is suggesting eating 'large amounts of red meat' but only to eat what you like in the keto/carnivore context and satiates your hunger. The carnivore diet
(or keto diet ) consists/includes of a variety of meats, fish, poultry, eggs and butter.

I don't think the argument (carnivore or keto diet) is settled. The claim is largely based on epidemiological studies, which owing to their nature (they are surveys), can easily be flawed. These two doctors debate the vegan versus carnivore issue. Depends on whom you believe has the stronger argument.

I will note that the pro plant doctor

    1. Never forwarded the 'many studies' he referred to to the pro carnivore dr.

    2. Employed a few pseudo debate tricks, A) heavily patronizing/posturing, B) appeals to authority as if that was the salient basis for his argument citing epidemiological studies which, as the pro carnivore dr pointed out, often contain 'healthy user bias' ( sick persons excluded from the study).

    3. Had no counter to the intervention studies cited which supported the pro carnivore dr. other than 'those are not valid', which is a vacuous claim.

    4. Asserted that the argument is settled, which it most certainly is not.

To my sensibilities, the pro carnivore dr. is the more intelligent and wiser of the two. That being said, I would never claim that a pro plant diet is bad for you, because everyone is different, there is no one-size-fits-all. I don't think the pro carnivore doctor disagrees with that point, either.

Substituting one poison, for another, hardly seems the most beneficial course. There is no reason, by the way, if you are going to increase your meat intake, that you cannot make that meat, a healthier variety. True game meats-- and there are internet sources for these, even if you aren't aware of any commercial outlets, in your area (you can try "Eatwild.com, IIRC, & if it is still operating-- but there are certainly others)-- have not been injected with growth hormones, that would end up in you. These lead to the same health problems, if they build up in your system, as are experienced by bodybuilders, who "juice," with steroids, long term.

One meat, it occurs to me, that is not a game meat, but which is probably at least lower in added GH, is available in many markets, across the country, is rather affordable, and is
delicious-- though I limit myself, specifically, to the rib chops-- is goat. Look for a Halal butcher shop (it is the Arabic equivalent of "Kosher").

Another advantage of any game meat, is that it is much leaner than the farm-raised variety. I am not one who shuns fat, but it is important to know what is in the fat that you eat. You see, if an animal is fed tons of corn and soy, and other grains, which have all been sprayed with pesticides, those poisons end up in the animal's fat. While poison may not be good for anyone, ingested from a water- based source, as from unwashed fruits & vegetables, it is much easier for you to flush those toxins, out of your system, than it is to emulsify them, out of fat. So when they are locked in fat, much more of it stays in your body, stored within your own fat, from which it continually leaches out its pernicious contents.

Healthier meats, though not discussed, was a given.

    Keto diet is not 'poison'.

Cut out nearly all wheat products, cut out sugar, eat lots of veggies, leafy ones like Chard, and Brocoli Cauliflower and Brussel Sprouts.

Exercise at least every other day, an hour walk after dinner is fine. I would advise against Crossfit.

You will lose weight and feel a lot better. I still eat some meat, but I blend red meats with Impossible Burger. But you need to add flavor.
