It's okay to be shocked by the title of this thread. If instead it was the title of a piece in a major newspaper, how do people think it would go down? I think that we all know that the author would have been CRUCIFIED by the court of public opinion and would be promptly fired along with any editorial staff who cleared it for publishing. Their journalism careers would be OVER!

So how then are we expected to buy into this nonsense of 'white privilege' when the only race that it is perfectly socially acceptable to mock, make jokes about and just be outright RACIST towards, is Caucasian?

Obviously this black guy who authored this pile of absolute BILE is a total racist scumbag and an absolute piece of human waste, and the scumbag editorial staff who cleared it for publishing are no better - they are either non-white racists too or just pathetic self-hating white liberals. So how does he get away with it? There's only one answer: He's black! THAT is BLACK privilege. Tell me why I'm wrong, if you are even remotely capable of doing so. I look forward to it!

 

Popular movements with good causes eventually achieve their original goal.

At that point a certain segment of the movement tries to keep going, past their original just goal. They become what they were originally fighting against.

If people speak up and say this, it is very easy to brand them as reactionaries, and all the strategies established for fighting the past injustice are cleanly and easily repurposed to supress this element.

The French Revolution is a good example: they deposed their King, established a republic, and it wasn't long before they were cutting off the heads of children and branding anyone critical of Robespierre as a reactionary, off with their heads.

Unfortunately this has happened with the anti-racism movement. Thankfully we no longer consider dismemberment a suitable punishment (... so far).

Human nature is a real bitch sometimes.

When I skinned my knee I had to put "white" bandages on my Hersey bar colored skin.

A few weeks ago on a black website someone told me that science fiction books were written by White men. Like I hadn't noticed that when I was 9 years old. Facepalm!

IBM told me I had to shave my beard when I was hired. Then 3 months later they let a white guy run around with a full beard. I had one like Malcolm X. I waited 6 months, didn't say squat.
Took a week off a grew it back.
It was hilarious. They pretended it wasn't there.

The only person that said anything was the white guy with the beard.

Why do they need to ask how to disappear it if that is what they want to do?

Sounds rough. Perhaps you should travel to Haiti. They have nothing but black people from the top to the bottom. They slaughtered their white overlords centuries ago. It is a real Wakonda. Explain to them how racist America is and how hard it is for blacks in America. From all appearances the entire country wants to move to America. Perhaps if they understood that they might have to use beige band-aids if they moved to America, they would have 2nd thoughts.

Yep. This is what having DVI in corporate america is now creating. I have a family member who lamented that when she had to interact with the C level folks in her organization, there wasn't "anyone who looked like me". I asked her why that was even a fair question to ask. After all, she made the decision to work there, and the C level folks in the org were publicly disclosed. So, she know what she was saying yes to. I asked why it made a difference to her. Was the company not successful enough under their management? Was the company not effective, did they not have an appropriate DVI person to ensure fairness in the org?

Turns out, that at the end of the day, all those things considered, it was just the fact that they were white men. Yes, she's a democrat. And it shows. She's still awesome, amazing mother, etc. But her unwillingness to accept a world that might be somewhat different their her ideal does seem to be problematic and limiting.

 

Is he really that stupid? I have no doubt that it's possible, I just kept trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and not miss any sarcasm. A grown man crying about how damaging the color of a doll is cannot be taken seriously.

They might want to do it in a way which doesn't break their little daughters heart. It seems that the only way to do it would be to explain that white people are evil and the white doll has got to go - which will instead CORRUPT their little daughter's heart. Which would be worse.
