Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) cleared up any lingering media “confusion” on what is appropriate in a school curriculum as the new school year approaches, making it clear that Marxist ideology and sexualized content has no place in a child’s classroom.

“As students head back to their classrooms this fall, I’m happy to clear up any ‘confusion’ the media may have about appropriate curriculum: [IMG] Math, Reading, Writing,” DeSantis wrote, while deeming “CRT, Sexualized Content, [and] Transgender Ideology” inappropriate.

“Florida schools will educate children, not indoctrinate them,” he added.…

…“These leftist politicians, corporate media outlets, some of these activist groups, they actually have read the bill, and they’re sloganeering because they don’t want to admit that they support a lot of the things we’re providing protections against,” DeSantis said of the legislation.

Since then, the governor has focused on endorsing a wave of conservative school board candidates who he believes will fight for the administration’s freedom first policies at the local level. These are individuals who will stand “on the frontlines of defending our students and standing up for parental rights,”…

Thank God for Governor De Santis! He is standing up for parents rights in the education of our kids. He’s also defending the kids from the Marxists and groomers who would teach false theories to them. The schools are to educate, not indoctrinate.

It’s painfully ironic that y’all say you don’t want to indoctrinate children and then you feature a photo of indoctrinating children.

Saying the pledge of allegiance is a time honored tradition. If having pride in your country is indoctrination then it's the type that true Americans would support.

You actually think that pledging allegiance to our exceptional nation through our beautiful American flag is indoctrination? That speaks volumes about the secular progressive left.

So was owning slaves and women having no rights — until it wasn’t.

I have no doubt that you support indoctrination in schools as long as it is your type of indoctrination.

Other nations don’t do this, well other first world nations don’t. I am sure N Korea does.

Your post is an example of what I am talking about.

Pledging allegiance is something our public servants and military should do — not our children.

I understand you probably won’t get that, which just shows how successful it has been.

You object to saying the pledge of allegiance?

Not every United States citizen believed in slavery. Even some of those that owned slaves were conflicted over the practice. Enough to start a Civil war over.

Absolutely not — I think a free person should be able to swear their allegiance to the nation. I just don’t think children should be doing it especially under the direction of a school.

I was only speaking of the founding documents.

Very few people would object to children saying the pledge of allegiance. Iirc, 47 States require it. It's said throughout our great Nation because most Americans are proud of our country. We have a lot to be proud of and teaching it to our children is the right thing to do. Do you think that children shouldn't be proud? Even Congress begins a new session by reciting it. They probably started out doing so when they were in school.

Seriously, you're comparing saying the pledge of allegiance with women's lack of rights and slavery? o_O

I was responding to a specific line of reasoning, if one don’t want to take the time to follow the conversation then one will likely ask inane questions.

Our children most certainly should be brought up to be loyal to their country and respectful of its history, cultures, traditions.

Since 1954 isn't "time-honored" It's barely even a tradition. You're supposed to have pride in your country because your country provides justice and freedom to its citizenry, for the right reasons, not because you're psychologically raped from an early age, which is what indoctrination really is.

Calling you out for backpedaling. We all followed what you wrote just fine and dandy, as I mentioned above.

How does saying the pledge teach anything to anybody?

When something predates you I consider that a time honored tradition.

I take it you're opposed to any type of teaching that indoctrinates our children, including CRT, right?

Compelled speech is usually a bad idea. Pledges of obedience by the populace at large including children is also usually a bad idea. These are things I would not expect to see in a nation that values freedom.
