So is a house, does that mean ur house is not just a house?

A fetus is still a fetus, just because you can write it off doesn't mean it's anything more than a fetus.

A fetus is a fetus till its excluded from being a that.

While this is a topic worth pondering, and for certain this issue will drive some Democrats to the polls, I would be cautious as to reading too much into that data. The people that are energized by this issue definitely turned out in this primary which has an abortion provision, but with it being a primary, those energized voters will have an outsized impact as compared to those that will turnout in November, because those same energized voters will also turnout again, but so will a great deal more voters that were not energized by this issue which will mute the impact of those energized voters versus the impact they had in a primary with a much smaller overall turnout.

Government interference in a womans right to bodily autonomy is certainly an egregious level of overreach. If only there was a party that actually opposed abuse of power. I do appreciate your 180 on this issue. That is a big change from throwing people in prison for refusing to consume an inferior pharma product.

They will if they win big in the mid-terms. If not, they will deny ever being anti-abortion.

I don't know what "pro-abortion" even MEANS. Do you mean like somebody who claims that women get an abortion because it's fun?

I try to not make predictions about things like that. I just hate being wrong. It's why I do research before I post, and try to leave those predictions to right-wingers, because they don't mind being wrong all the time. They're used to it. But when I DO make predictions, I choose what I would consider the outcome I hate most. So, if I'm wrong, at least that means that worst case scenario didn't materialize.

Having said that, I do believe that everything appeared to point to Republicans doing really well in November, and the SCOTUS decision gave Democrats a life line by energizing their base. Getting democrats to come out and vote has always been the Democratic Party's main problem.

Abortion, like governors, are not elected by region. They are state-wide votes.

It's not as it should be in a democracy. In a democracy, people are not allowed to vote to restrict the rights of other people. In a healthy democracy, courts PROTECT human rights. Our democracy is not healthy right now. And one of the main reasons is a sick partisan and activist Supreme Court.

Republicans had everything going their way to do very well in November. This SCOTUS decision seems to have leveled the playing field quite a bit.

As I said above, I do believe they'll be running away from this topic from here to November. And if they don't do as well as expected, watch them come out one by one as if they had NEVER opposed abortion rights.

What does it mean that Kansas decided in favor of women's choice 59% to 41%

It means there are a good number of people in Kansas who aren’t interested in being authoritative.

It was redacted by anti-abortion advocates. Are you working on some new Trumpian conspiracy theory?

Perhaps the SC overturning Roe isn’t the apocalypse after all.

Who said fanatical Christians? Christians are normal people.

Just out of curiosity. Do you believe Catholics are fanatical Christians?

It is for the women in states that have banned or are looking to ban abortions.

Apparently states do have that right. Twenty states have banned conversion therapy.

For the federal legislative branch, the GOP will more than likely win the House but probably not the senate. Two key senate races are turning out not to be in favor of the GOP Those two senate seats are Georgia and Pennsylvania. But in the state of Kansas, the GOP already has a supermajority in the House and only needs one seat in the state senate. That way, they can override whatever the Governor decides to veto if an abortion ban bill is passed in the Kansas state house.

Kansas GOP thought that they had an advantage with this issue by placing the Constitutional Amendment Referendum in the midterms during a midterm election year. The numbers historically are low and tend to favor Republicans in the state of Kansas. This means that a lot of Republicans voted against this referendum, a blow to the GOP evangelical conservatives. Furthermore, the polling numbers look like there was a huge surge in voting for this, with one of the highest in Kansas midterm voting history.

No. Pro-Abortion means that one is in favor of abortion no matter what stage of the development. Pro-choice means allowing a person to choose whether to have an abortion, not have an aboriton, give up the baby for adoption with little to no government interference as to what choice the person makes.

For the Democrats, they have a couple of issues. First and foremost is Abortion. However, they also have education as well if they can get past the right-wing rhetoric of "grooming" and so forth. Both abortion and education is more local than national. But local issues, if nearly every community has this issue, can lead to a national referendum too. The other thing that is going for the Dems is gas prices are starting to come down. If that trend continues and the economy is at least hovering, then the Dems have a chance. Voters will have very short-term memories and may decide the incumbent is better than the alternative.

For the GOP to win, Trump cannot win the GOP nomination. If DeSantis wins the GOP nomination, he will need to move more to the "middle" than he has now. But it will be more interesting to see the GOP presidential primary than the Democrats because Biden will win the nomination if he decides to run again. If Biden decides not to run again, for whatever reason, then the Democrats will have a more interesting primary than the GOP. And that hurts the GOP in almost every way.

So, for the GOP, they need to be careful what they wish for. Most don't think Biden should run again, but that would put them at a disadvantage. The voters will not have anyone at the top to blame if they so choose to.

Nope. It's STILL the "apocalypse". It means that the Supreme Court has shifted away from democracy and is approaching fascism by not protecting the most basic human rights. Now that people can vote on what rights a woman has over her own body, door is wide open to demand voting on things like who you can't marry, maybe if black people are allowed to own property, or how many children you are allowed to have if you're Hispanic Just about any basic right you can think of. And one might THINK they know how voting is going to turn out... but it's very rare when majorities uphold the rights of minorities with popular vote.

I don't know who you are referring to, but anybody who denies others their basic personal rights because of religious beliefs is a fanatic.

I think the abortion vote shows most Kansasans want abortion legal,in some form. But abortion isn’t an important enough issue that will swing Kansas into the Democratic column. In other words, Kansas will still be voting Republican except for perhaps the governor who happens to be an incumbent.

I don't know nor have I ever heard of anybody who believes that.

What does the right to choose not to have an abortion have to do with giving up the baby or not? And who in the world would be for the government deciding if you can give up your child for abortion? Sounds to me like a big salad of unrelated topics thrown into the abortion debate.

There is no such thing as "pro-abortion". You might be thinking of pro abortion rights. But that's the same as pro-choice. Which simply means that it's the women's right to choose what to do with her body. That doesn't mean she can have an abortion at ANY time just for the heck of it. Pro-choice says you can have an abortion at any time if the life of the mother is in danger, or if the fetus is not viable.... but you didn't even mention that. It's illegal to have an abortion after 22 weeks when there is no medical reason. And there are probably people who might think that should be extended (I'm not one of them), but the majority of people who are pro-choice believe that's a reasonable limit.

So, you believe Catholics are fanatics.

They do not look at it the same way as you. They believe you are killing a living person when you perform an abortion. Since we do not truly know when life begins, you have no evidence that you are more correct than they are..

It’s not the Court’s job to shift toward or away from democracy. Their job is to test the constitutionality of laws.

It is most definitely the court's PRIMARY job to protect the people's human rights... natural rights.... whatever you want to call them. And NOT allow those rights to be removed from any group of people by either legislation or by vote.

That IS the constitutionality of the law.

The pro-birth people made sure the wording was confusing on purpose. Their TV ads were outright lies, by saying abortion would still be legal.
If it would had passed the Republican legislature would have been given free reign to emulate Missouri, currently the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation. The people in Missouri had no chance to vote on abortion legislation.
If the people across the country had an actual say in their government, this country would be much different.

They actively oppose abortion just like most Christian faiths.
