Up here at this beautiful park a few miles from my house on the peace River. I have the place completely to myself because all of the Yankees and snowbirds go back north in the summer.

    .
There is tent camping and RV camping available here. Pretty much every time but summer this place stays packed.

And I think to myself yeah y'all just wait till July and August and I'll have the whole park to myself! Not a soul in sight.
Just hit 70 mph on my bike for the first time on my way here. And I dress like I have some sense today.... Helmet gloves glasses pants and boots. As damn hot as it is I'd rather sweat my ass off then scrape it off on the side of the road IMG_20220802_151136.jpg

There was plenty of wide open road ahead of me but when I hit 70 I eased off the throttle and got back down to 50.... 70 on a bike does not feel anything like 70 in a car. I could feel my helmet wanting to blow off if it wasn't strapped on.

People that go 120 plus miles an hour on a bike can only have a death wish

The other side of the park by the river. It's so damn hot I might strip down to my underwear and jump in.... So if you read a brief news story about Florida man and alligator...lol

I deep fried 2 lb of alligator meat last night. There is something satisfying about eating alligators and sharks. IMG_20220802_152741.jpg

If I went swimming in those gator infested waters, and I wouldn't, I'd have to have the Bowie Knife From Hell on me....

I'm glad we don't have those things up here...

Springtime is mating season but aside from that they typically are not much of a threat.... Unless idiots feed them and that's illegal.

A woman in placida was recently killed by a gator in a golf course on a pond. You'll read about two or three attacks a year and the occasional fatality.

I'm back home now and I did not get in the river so I am thinking about going to my friend's house and getting in his pool... Gator free.

A swimming pool has something in common with a boat..... It is better to have a friend that owns one, then to own one yourself!

I thank God every time I get on my motorcycle and I thank him every time I get off it.... The easy way.

~ What's the taste ? Never thought about alligator as food ... :hungry:

    • Alligator meat is high in dietary fibers and is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. It also contains phosphorus, potassium, vitamin B12, niacin, and monounsaturated fatty acids.

At the risk of sounding cliche I'll say it taste like chicken because that's about the closest comparison. But it is better.

I bought some back in February from the butcher for $2 for 25 lb. I don't know if they even have it now but if they do it's probably 32 $

It smelled slightly fishy but it did not taste fishy at all but I'm told if you marinated in buttermilk first it's better

It's the same thing with the black bears in our area. A couple of days ago one of my wife's friends spotted a sow and her cubs moving through our area, which is why I harvested that pumpkin yesterday.

Man, there's food all over the place around here. Momma and her cubs were spotted up by one of the many farms in our area and they're probably making bear circles in their cornfields:

Black bears are omnivores and a bit of corn added to their meal is a plus.

I give respect where respect is due, and that includes motorcycles on the road.

I live in a high tourist area, and we inevitably get people on bikes in the traffic. Those that play the weave in and out in stopped (or slow) traffic give me the overwhelming urge to fling open my door when I see them coming. I don't, but it seems they do it with impunity, so instead I wish for a big fat juicy bug to splat on their teeth.....

    ;)

I've had it. Meh, nothing that great about it IMO, but I can understand FatBack's thoughts.

Big nasty predator being eaten by it's prey.....

And a whole lot of corn is a BIG plus. Mamma Bear's got herself and a couple of little mouths to feed....

Homie don't play that. I really don't even like getting on the highway and even go out of my way to find back roads with low volume and slower traffic. I got it up to speed like that on a back road with no driveways and look like a big levee the road was up high so you could see everything really good. A long straight stretch of road

About the big hairy thing that’s passed out behind the bar, that’s just Fatty. He emptied out the case of Spaten Optimator again, but I had NOTHING to do with that...*hic*……

    Hey hey!

You have got to come around more often. Some people just got rowdy, others sat in the corners and just grinned. And that was when we could only find a case of Bud Light!

[IMG] This is Mo s the day we found him by the creek. He had been shot and no food for a couple of days at least. He was a hungry little fellow. According to what everyone said he had been there for a couple of days before we got him. He ate like it was going to be his last meal. This picture was taken after he had been cleaned up and fed.

[IMG] A few months later this is Moses.

There was a funny smell wafting out of the corners and it wasn't just coming from the joss sticks.

    SHOT????

I can commit violence on someone who intentionally harms an animal.

He looks healthy and happy, I'm glad to say!

Who ever did it shot him with a pellet gun. The pellet was still in him.
Moses was a neat dog and loaded with personality. Definitely a free spirit. I always wished the person who discarded him could have seen the dog he grew up to be.
