Today, 2022-07-015, Japan joined the 10,000,000 club:

    2022-07-015 Covid-19 Japan exceeds 10,000,000 total Covid-19 cases.png

Japan is the 13th nation on Earth to reach this marker.

Here the current millions-table, updated to reflect this data-point:

    2022-07-015 Covid-19 Japan exceeds 10,000,000 total Covid-19 cases - millions table.png

Germany is closing in on on 30,000,000 cases and will get there in the next days. This is why the number 5 already stands in the 30,000,000 category.

Also, in the one million club, we are about to see a flurry of activity in the next 3-4 weeks.

    THE TOP-85 TABLES

    Here by total cases, descending:

The 85 nations I am tracking accounted for 97.33% of all worldwide cases and 96.27% of all deaths during the week being analysed, making this an excellent statistical tool to use.

    Here sorted by +cases / +avg cases:

CW-28 saw no countries with over +1,000,000 +cases (the USA came close) but 1 with an average of over +100,000 cases per day (USA).

Here the same 85-nation list, sorted by growth rate:

The worldwide growth-rate in +cases during CW28 rose incrementally to +1.18% (it was +1.14% the week before), with the worldwide growth rate exactly between Brazil and Belgium (ranks 25-26) No nation had a growth rate over 10%, or even 6% for that matter. What we are seeing is a general slight upward creep most everywhere.

    Here, by trend:

We ended CW-28 with 8 nations at a plateau (the week before it was also 8 ). 54 nations are now surging forward (the week before it was 57), leaving us with 23 nations that show their +cases receding (last week it was 20).

Because there was a sudden increase in +deaths, here part of the statistic for the death growth rate for CW-28:

You can see that worldwide, the growth rate in deaths was 0.23%. Sixteen nations were at least double that and the most notable case was Canada. I am assuming this was a clerical cleanup in that land. Not sure if this is a warning sign or not, but I will keep my eyes on it.

TRACKED NATIONS UNDER 1,000,000 CASES: FUTUREWATCH
I updated this again but will only compare the last 3 weeks by number of days remaining until a nation here jumps over the million-fence:

Right now, 7 more nations are all but guaranteed to go over the 1,000,000-mark by year's end, but of the 4 nations that provided no statistics last week, 3 of them are very close to 1,000,000 already and likely to jump over as well, so it's actually 10.

As of yesterday, there were 167 days left in this year. If we maintain exactly the current average rate of daily cases worldwide, then at EOY 2022 we would land at 728,342,510 officially recorded C19 cases. I am assuming a large fall into winter wave and likely we will be swept over the 1 billion mark instead.

Today, Wednesday, 2022-07-020, Germany will sail over 30,000,000 total confirmed C19 cases.

Also, Japan is well on it's way to surpass Vietnam in the rankings, from rank 13 to rank 12.

Also, here are the nations under the 1,000,000 mark that are in the 85-nation tracking:

    2022-07-020 nations under 1,000,000.png

Of those 21 nations, 10 are between 900,000 and 1,000,000 and 6 (soon it will be 7, with Panama) of those ten are less than 50,000 away from the 1,000,000-barrier.

I would say there is going to be a lot of activity in the million-club in the next 6 weeks.

GUATEMALA EXCEEDED 1,000,000 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES ON 2022-07-021, 65th NATION TO DO SO

Today, Thursday, 2022-07-021, GUATEMALA exceeded the 1,000,000-mark.

    2022-07-021 GUATEMALA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - closeup.png

    Here the WorldOMeter countries table:

    2022-07-021 GUATEMALA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases.png

The Guatemalan values are likely final; that nation tends to post numbers only once per day.

Guatemala's current C19 case total represents 5.4% of that country's total population.

Because Guatemala did not go over 1,000,000 cases on a Sunday, there is no excel table screenshot for the million mark.

Here the millions-club table in updated form:

    2022-07-021 GUATEMALA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - millions club.png

With Guatemala's entrance into the million-club, that makes for the 23rd nation that has crossed over the million mark in 2022 and the 65th overall. The first 42 nations crossed over that line in 2020-2021, broken down as follows: it took the entire year 2020 to get to the first 18 nations over the million mark; in 2021 it was 24 such nations and now within the first 5.5 months of 2022, we already added another 23 such nations to-data.

It should be noted that 9 nations are currently between 900,000-1,000,000 cases: Belarus, Bolivia, Nepal, UAE, Uruguay, Panama, Ecuador, Mongolia & Costa Rica.
Bolivia is very likely to become the 66th nation to clear the million-hurdle in the next say.

Today, Friday 2022-07-022, Japan reported just under +181,000 new C19 cases. Just one month ago, Japan was averaging +15,000 new cases per day, so this is a twelve-fold increase in about 24 days.

More importantly, the increase is evenly spread all over the island nation all the way from the snowy rural prefecture (province) of Tohoku in the North all the way down to the southernmost city in Niho (Japan): Kagoshima.

Also, a series of massive mountain chains that effectively split the nation into 2 parts- East and West- is not halting the spread. In fact, in is probably advancing the spread because this Mountain chain ist 99% impassable by car and therefore the only practical ways to get to the west of Japan from the East or visa versa is by plane and sometimes by boat. Of course Edo (Tokyo) is getting hit hard but so are practically unknown cities like Fukuoka or Sakai, not exactly tourist destinations. I am wondering if a new undervariant is developing in Japan.

I've written a number of times in 2022 that surprises were bound to happen, like Taiwan, North Korea or Mongolia, which pretty much appeared out of nowhere.

The newest surprise is Cyprus, which was under 200,000 2 months ago and is now at 556,048 cases, rank 86, right under Estonia. It appears that Cyprus is accumulating about +10,000 cases per day which means that it will enter my Top-85 tracking early next week (CW-30) and will likely surpass Palestine and Myanmar as well next week, perhaps even Dominican Republic. Cyprus has only 1.3 million residents by millions of people vacation in Cyprus, so the summer vacation season has truly infected the small island nation.

I will be creating an excel table for Cyprus this weekend.

Today is Saturday, 2022-07-023. Bolivia has already clocked in for today, is now at 997,615 total C19 cases and 22,013 total C19 deaths. Doubtless Bolivia is going to be the 66th nation on Earth to join the million club, it will happen tomorrow but Bolivia often tends to take a pause on Sundays and first report the weekend values late on Monday. So, I will likely be reporting Bolvia's breakthrough of the million zone next Tuesday. Wait and see.

An excel table has now been opened for Cyprus and all data back to 2021-12-026 has now been filled-in.

BOLIVIA EXCEEDED 1,000,000 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES ON 2022-07-024, 66th NATION TO DO SO

Today, Sunday, 2022-07-024, BOLIVIA exceeded the 1,000,000-mark just 3 days after Guatemala did the same.

    2022-07-024 BOLIVIA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - WorldOMeter closeup.png

    Here the WorldOMeter countries table:

    2022-07-024 BOLIVIA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - WorldOMeter table.png

Since Bolivia jumped the 1,000,000-fence on a Sunday, here the excel table for that country:

    2022-07-024 BOLIVIA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - excel table.png

The Bolivian values are likely final; that nation tends to post numbers only once per day. For this reason all of the graphics in this posting are already recorded as "EOD" ("End of Day").

Bolivia's current C19 case total represents 8.34% of that country's total population.

Here the millions-club table in updated form:

    2022-07-024 BOLIVIA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - millions club.png

With Bolivia's entrance into the million-club, that makes for the 24rd nation that has crossed over the million mark in 2022 and the 66th overall, broken down as follows: 18 nations in 2020; 24 nations iin 2021 and now within the first 7 months of 2022, we have added another 24 such nations to-data.

It should be noted that 8 nations are currently between 900,000-1,000,000 cases: Belarus, Costa Rica, Nepal, UAE, Uruguay, Ecuador, Panama & Mongolia .
Costa Rica is very likely to become the 67th nation to clear the million-hurdle in the next days, with UAE, Ecuador and Panama following within the next weeks. By the end of August 2022, we will definitely have a sum total of 70 nations in the millions club.

CW-29 saw no countries with over +1,000,000 +cases (Japan came very close) but 2 with an average of over +100,000 cases per day (Japan, USA).

Here the same 85-nation list, sorted by growth rate:

The worldwide growth-rate in +cases during CW29 rose to +1.29% (it was +1.18% the week before), with the worldwide growth rate tracked almost exactly by Serbia (rank 24). No nation had a growth rate over 10%, but three nations suddenly had more than +8% growth rate (the week before, no nation was over +5%), and those three could not possibly be more diverse: Greece, Japan and Costa Rica. And all three of those nations saw this statistical rise for different reasons: Greece is a major tourist location, Japan is getting hammered worse than ever and Costa Rica had for 4 weeks long provided no data at all and so it was playing catch-up.

    Here, by trend:

We ended CW-29 with 5 nations at a plateau (the week before it was 8 ). 50 nations are now surging forward (the week before it was 54), leaving us with 30 nations that show their +cases receding (last week it was 23). However, of those 30, 5 reported no new statistics at all (see: growth rate table). So, the overall picture has not changed much.

Facit: we may be seeing a summer "flux" where many nations that had planned to slow-down their testing were caught broadside by this summer wave and are just now upping the testing. In CW-29, the world added +20,645,754 tests over CW-28. Plus, we are seeing precipitous rises in +cases in countries that are beloved vacation spots (Greece, Crete). On the other hand, with extreme heat in parts of Europe and the USA, accompanied by a large number of wildfires, I can imagine that the bookkeeping there (Spain, Portugal, France, the UK, Ireland, the USA - regionally) is difficult to maintain perfectly. For instance, Ireland reported no data for CW-29 at all, very unusual for that nation.

Today is Tuesday, 2022-07-026, we are now into CW-30 of this year and already over 576,000,000 total confirmed C-19 cases, working toward 577,000,000 today. At the current rate, our world will bust over 600,000,000 total C19 cases around the 18th or 19th of August.

Also, here are the nations I am tracking that are currently under 1,000,000 total C19 cases:

    2022-07-026 Covid-19 nations under the 1,000,000 mark- outlook.png

Here we are dealing with a lot of unreliablity in daily reporting in 3 of the 8 nations between 900,000 and 1,000,000: Costa Rica, Belarus and Mongolia. Nepal is moving, but at a snail's pace. If Costa Rica and Belarus do what they have done in the past, they will report no new numbers for up to 6 weeks and then bääääm, they will make a major jump over the 1,000,000-fence. Or both of those nations could to it this week, who knows for sure. Where I see steady, measurasble movement is with UAE, Uruguay, Ecuador and Panama and am reasonably sure that at least 3 of those four will have joined the million club by the end of August. The nations under 900,000, starting with Latvia and Saudi Arabia, are all moving at very different rates but one thing is for sure: if a massive fall wave hits atop this summer surge thing, then I would bet the farm that by the end of this year, all 86 nations that I am currently tracking will be over the 1,000,000 mark.

Meanwhile, we are still waiting for both China and Egypt to finally fess up and be honest about their statistics. Egypt should have easily been over the million mark one year ago. And China is surely at 300,000,000 total C19 cases and is simply lying to the world. It's really that simple.

Drink tea, stay calm and wait.

Running deep under the radar are a number of nations or island states/territories that are obviously in the middle of a (for them) very large C19 wave. Some of them are nations that will never reach 1,000,000 total C19 cases because their populations are so far below 1,000,000, but it doesn't make their waves any less serious.

So, I decided to compare 2022-07-026 (Tuesday) and 2022-07-027 (Wednesday) to see which "little fish" are really biting. Here those two days, in order of total cases, descending:

    2022-07-026 Covid-19 excerpts 001.png 2022-07-026 Covid-19 excerpts 002.png

    2022-07-027 Covid-19 excerpts 001.png 2022-07-027 Covid-19 excerpts 002.png

A common denominator between these two days were 3 nations that were over +1,000 new C19 cases on both days: Albania (rank 102), Montenegro (rank 107) and Brunei (rank 113).

Here the same two days ranked worldwide by +cases, descending:

    2022-07-026 Covid-19 by plus cases descending 001.png 2022-07-026 Covid-19 by plus cases descending 002.png

    2022-07-027 Covid-19 by plus cases descending 001.png 2022-07-027 Covid-19 by plus cases descending 002.png

In this case, the nations that were around or at +1,000 new cases but not in my 86-nation tracking were cross-referenced in box-red.

So, I've already mentioned Brunei a couple of times in the past - it is on the same huge island as Malaysia and obviously, C-19 does not respect national borders:

On those two days, Brunei accumulated +1,150 and 1,578 new cases, respectively. So, the 2-day average is pretty much 1,550. Brunei's total population is 446,127. That's 0.3% of the population. How would that extrapolate out were Brunei to have the same population as the USA? 330,000,000 / 446,127 = the USA's population is 740 times that of Brunei. 1,550 * 740 = 1,147,000. So, if Brunei had the same population as the USA, their figure for these two days would have been +1,147,000 new C19 cases per day. Of course, this is just a thought experiment, but it shows how utterly infectious this latest strain is and that it has found pretty much every small corner of the world. BTW, I do find it perverse that soon, Brunei, a nation with less than 450,000 people, will soon surpass China, a nation with 1,440,000,000 people, in the Covid-19 rankings. China has 3,200 TIMES the population of Brunei.

You can do similar math for the other nations I have highlighted.

More food for thought: Micronesia had "only" +697 C19 cases yesterday. However, that is 0.6% of the total population of only 117,512 residents. During the peak of the Omikron wave in Europe, we saw this 0.6% figure daily in nations like France, UK, Spain and Germany. In this case, it would probably be helpful to see what Micronesia looks like on a map:

Many of you may recognize the Marshall Islands from your WWII history.

Or better yet, Wallis and Futuna (French Territory in the Pacific):

Yesterday, out of a total population of 10,833, Wallis and Futuna (rank 222) had +174 C-19 cases. That's 1.6% of the entire population of this mini-territory in just one day.

Why did I take so much time to point out nations that some may find unimportant? I did it to point out that the virus is not just perhaps everywhere, it IS everywhere. There are even almost 100 total reported cases (98 ) spread out over 3 territories in Antarctica.

When I first saw the summer wave forming, I thought to myself that it would surely abate, but now I am not so sure. I am thinking more and more that the summer wave will roll into the most massive pandemic wave we have ever seen starting in late Fall of 2022 and continuing in some parts of the world through Spring of 2023, due to the indoors factor for the Northern Hemisphere. Fortunately, I also think that the virus will mutate at least once more, into a far more infectious yet even less deadly form of Covid-19 to the point where we may be seeing less than +1,000 deaths daily, worldwide. And I assume that most governments will not even try to enforce any kind of C19 restrictions anymore. Wait and see.

We ended CW-29 with +7.4 million new cases worldwide. Currently, as of EOD on Wednesday, we have accumulated +3.2 million cases thus far, so we are on our way to at least matching, if not outperforming CW-29's statistic when this week is over with. This is of course far less than the weekly +24,000,000 we saw at the peak of the Omikron wave, but we were not supposed to be having a wave at all right now, and yet, we are.

The thinking in Australia is that there is to be a big peak soon and that with vaccines, masks in populous areas, distancing and isolation when ill, we have to live with it.
100 people died last weak. Our total deaths during lockdown was 1500ish. Now people don’t seem to be bothered to wear a mask when in supermarkets or on public transport.
I think the government has given up and accepted that it’s endemic.

COSTA RICA EXCEEDED 1,000,000 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES ON 2022-07-031, 67th NATION TO DO SO

Today, Sunday, 2022-07-031, COSTA RICA exceeded the 1,000,000-mark exactly one week after Bolivia did the same.

    2022-07-031 COSTA RICA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - WorldOMeter table - close up.png

    Here the WorldOMeter countries table:

    2022-07-031 COSTA RICA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - WorldOMeter table.png

Since Costa Rica jumped the 1,000,000-fence on a Sunday, here the excel table for that country:

    2022-07-031 COSTA RICA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - excel table.png

The Costa Rican values are likely final; that nation tends to post numbers only once per day. For this reason all of the graphics in this posting are already recorded as "EOD" ("End of Day").

Costa Rica's current C19 case total represents 19.37% of that country's total population.

Here the millions-club table in updated form:

    2022-07-031 COSTA RICA exceeds 1,000,000 total C-19 cases - millions table.png

With Costa Rica's entrance into the million-club, that makes for the 25th nation that has crossed over the million mark in 2022 and the 67th overall, broken down as follows: 18 nations in 2020; 24 nations iin 2021 and now within the first 7 months of 2022, we have added 25 such nations to-data.

It should be noted that 7 nations are currently between 900,000-1,000,000 cases: Belarus, UAE, Nepal, Uruguay, Ecuador, Panama & Mongolia .
UAE is very likely to become the 68th nation to clear the million-hurdle in the coming week.

    Life comes at us fast.

Soooo, I am on vacation and was swimming all day long.

The data for the concise analysis is complete but I am too tired to write the analysis itself, will get to it tomorrow morning, eh....

    THE TOP-85 TABLES

    Here by total cases, descending:

The 85 nations I am tracking accounted for 97.36% of all worldwide cases and 96.28% of all deaths during the week being analysed, making this an excellent statistical tool to use.

    Here sorted by +cases / +avg cases:

CW-30 saw 1 country with over +1,000,000 +cases (Japan) but 2 with an average of over +100,000 cases per day (Japan, USA, with Japan far ahead).

Here the same 85-nation list, sorted by growth rate:

The worldwide growth-rate in +cases during CW29 fell to +1.21% (it was +1.29% the week before), with the worldwide growth rate tracked perfectly by Austria (rank 25). One nation had a growth rate over 10% (Japan), with the rest far behind.

    Here, by trend:

We ended CW-30 with 8 nations at a plateau (the week before it was 5). 33 nations are now surging forward (the week before it was 50), leaving us with 44 nations that show their +cases receding (last week it was 30). However, of those 44, 4 reported no new statistics at all (see: growth rate table). So, the overall picture has not changed much.

NATIONS UNDER 1,000,000 CASES: PROGNOSIS BASED ON CURRENT AVERAGES

At least 7, if not 8, nations are currently all but guaranteed to exceed the 1,000,000-mark by years end. Up next: UAE.

Facit: we may be seeing a summer "flux" where many nations that had planned to slow-down their testing were caught broadside by this summer wave and are just now upping the testing. In CW-30, the world added at least +22,557,860 tests over CW-29. That's a rise of +200,000 tests more than the week before. That being said, with extreme heat in parts of Europe and the USA, accompanied by a large number of wildfires, I can imagine that the bookkeeping there (Spain, Portugal, France, the UK, Ireland, the USA - regionally) is difficult to maintain perfectly. Where or not the surge is abating is a question of whether people coming home from vacation are actually testing, or not.

There is also the uncomfortable possibility that the +3.5 million plateau I thought would emerge will double and instead, be a +7 million plateau.

Today, Wednesday 2022-08-003, South Korea exceeded 20,000,000 total Covid-19 cases, while Japan rode over the 13,000,000 mark. The next time I screenshot the millions-club data, you will see South Korea reflected there. South Korea is the 8th nation (and the 2nd Asian nation) on Earth to have surpassed the 20,000,000 mark, after the USA, India, Brazil, France, UK, Germany and Italy.

BTW, Japan went over 1,000,000 total cases on 2021-08-008, almost exactly one year ago, which means that it's case-load has increased 13-fold during this time.
Aaaand South Korea went over 1,000,000 total cases on 2022-02-008, almost exactly 6 months ago, a 20-fold increase in only one half year. This is statistically provable as on of the two most dramatic increase in +cases (next to the USA), proportionally, of any nation in history.

Something is going seriously wrong in Japan. Today, Friday 2022-08-005, Japan has reported +253,523 new C19 cases, 2.5 times what is being reported in the USA on its peak days. It's also Japan's high-water mark to-date.

Again I must ask if a new variant is Ende ging.

Nothing should be spreading around in Japan since they religiously wear masks and their population has been about 80% jabbed since the tail end of 2021... and, you know, we're told by "experts" that masks and jabss "work" soooooooooooo well and are soooooooooooo "safe and effective".

Remember back when Japan was used as an example by pro-suffocation anti-autonomy people for how much masks and jabs were keeping their numbers extremely low?? What's the explanation NOW?! Masks and jabs aren't working so well, eh? You've been lied to this whole time, eh? Isn't that what I've said from Day 1?

The numbers for Sunday, 2022-08-007 (CW-31) are just starting to come in, I have logged hard data for circa 30 of 86 nations but already I can say that as was the case with CW-30, CW-31 is definitely the "week of Japan", which accrued +1.5 MILLION cases this week, far outstripping the USA, which will probably land at around +900,000 when all is said and done.

    South Korea
had +713,078 cases this week, a sizeable jump over the week before.

The other big news is that Vietnam went from +4-digit cases from CW-21 to CW-29, then +5-digit cases during CW-30 (+11,684) to +6-digit cases (+567,886, a 49-fold increase!) in CW-31. So, either Vietnam had a lot of case backlogs to finally get entered into the system or something is also happening in Vietnam.

However, Thailand is showing only a minimal rise in +cases,

    Taiwan
is showing less +cases and North Korea (LOL) is claiming that it has no more active cases and has now frozen its statistics. So, it's a mixed bag but a massive rise in both Japan and Vietnam will cause the +cases worldwide to be more than they were for CW-30, in spite of more and more other, non-asian nations showing a +case drop.
