trump doesn't request the DC National Guard, he activates them.
That is the job of the president in activating the DC Guard. Or one he delegates to do so with his authority.

Nope the SecArmy and that cannot happen for domestics law enforcement without the request of the government body with jurisdiction. In this case the Mayor and the Capitol Hill leadership. It was not activated Jan 6 other than the 300 the Mayor had requested because the offers had been turned down, jonother requestnhad been made and the Mayor explicitlyand unequivically told the WH no additional troops were needed and were NOT to be sent.

I'm not sure why the Capitol Police Chief would ask for permission to request the National Guard be on standby and why Pelosi and Schumer denied the request if they really had no authority in the first place.

The house nor Senate have no authority to activate the DC Guard. That is solely up to the office of the President or one of his authorize delegates.

It matters not if there was a request or a denial by any others.
If they aren't activated, its because the office if the President didn't activate them.

The question that needs to be asked is why security wasn't increased on January 6 when the protest had been scheduled? Security was beefed up at the Supreme Court even when no protest was scheduled.

 

10k troops could possibly have curtail much of what happened. Had they been requested and deployed before the riot began.

Why exactly would we need the DC National Guard on site of our Capitol Building? Why would they believe we need them? When did we become a 3rd world dictatorship?

 

There was a group of antagonists that wasn't even at the rally. The Intel already knew there were groups planning a riot and most likely Trump was concerned about these criminals.
