I agree about boats, but I love, love, love my pool. The upkeep is not that expensive, and going skinny dipping under the full moon cannot be matched.

Surviving the dog days of summer. Paid off my house and of d course now its falling apart. $2500 hot water heater last wk and my shower drain won't unstop. Paid Roto Rooter $700 and it worked for 6 mos, until warranty ran out. Anybody got plumbing advice? Besides set the house on fire?

Yeah, I kept corrupting the guards and they asked me to leave. The nerve!! Dads hanging in there @ 96. His biological daughter moved in w him which was a huge relief to us all.

What the hell is this world coming to? Who in the hell sends three children into a gas station at 3 am at night by themselves to buy candy with their own debit gift cards? First of all why the hell do you have three kids out at 3:00 a.m.?

Seriously, that just happened. I can see they were with the parent or whatever passes for a parent because I could see the vehicle that they came and left in on camera.

I can only shake my head.

You guys want to hear something that's hard to believe but I assure you it's true?

Some of our customers we allow to run an account with us. It's a small town and that's the way it's been here for years. Anyhow we have two Hispanic brothers that both run underground utilities crews.

They come in five mornings a week and get fuel and ice and water and oil or whatever else they may need and it goes on their account. They've been coming here for many years.

Anyhow I saw a note on the register that one of the brothers accounts is closed until further notice.

So being curious I looked on the account sheet to see what was owed. One of them owes just north of $21,000.

I thought well surely that's a typo because the highest I'd see owed is about 5 grand..... Nope he really owes that much.

Maybe I'm in the wrong position running the register? Perhaps I need to be the enforcer that goes and knocks on doors to collect the debts?

 

The things you see working the night shift at a gas station..... A pick up truck pulls up and a man and a woman get out. I can see this girl is hammered drunk on camera before she even comes in the store.

So she's smoking hot. But she can barely stand up. She was going to buy e-cigarettes and sometimes I let people come behind the counter so they can see what the choices are, so she asked if she could. Dude she was with tells me to watch her so she doesn't fall.


I told her don't fall back here. So she leaves the store without buying anything and the guy was in the store for a few seconds after she left and I said I hope she's not driving.

He assured me that she wasn't and I said you need to take her home and put her to bed before she falls and hurts herself.

Lucky bastard

 

Come on 6:00 a.m. 1 hour and 10 minutes from now.............
This is my Friday afternoon.

 

Well that sure did not take long. If someone picks up a hose before paying my register has a dinging alarm Bell letting me know that someone wants me to turn on a pump. I only turn on pumps if you have an account with us or I know you. Because if I turn it on and somebody drives off without paying it's on me.

So I did what I was instructed to do and went out and told one of the guys on his crew that he has to pay first. Evidently he called the big boss because within 20 minutes the big boss himself delivered a check for well over half the amount that was due. Account back open

 

Thought you might want to know. We finally got a decent fig harvest. All are producing.....gonna be fig preserves.....no added sugar

 

Does anyone know what kind if figs these are. We just got cuttings from a neighbor.

 

That is way expensive for a hot water heater. If there are no nearby trees whose roots are clogging you up, you might want to start doing the overnight acid thing, or treating it with a foaming drain cleaner like once a month as a preventative. Mine gets gunky slow with hair about once a year and the draino foam works well enough for another year. I did have to remove a big tree and rotorooter the lines once when I first bought my house, but that was it.

 

The figs are sweet. Brown Turkey seems to fit. I just took some cuttings from my neighbors tree.

 

I will get a leaf later. It was a good season for gardening. I don't think the trees were stressed. The soil isn't the best ....just rock and gravel.

 

My neighbor has given me some. I've limited her, since last year she asked if I would 'like a few' and I ended up with a half pound. So, 6 per week. My blood sugar can't handle much more then that!

 

I am going to start some more cuttings come fall. I read that goats fed fig leaves taste better. Gourmet goats!!!!!
