This is not correct. First until the mid 19th century many people just crossed into what is now the US before it was the US. Secondly, after the full country was formed, we limited southern hemisphere immigrants (though not very successfully) through the early 1900s. Then we stopped immigration cold for awhile to allow immigrants to assimilate. Then we allowed very selective immigration (but a bunch) -- highly restricted to Europeans -- on the basis of their skills and willingness to assimilate. Then in the 70s, under the sponsorship of mainly Sen. Ted Kennedy we altered our criteria to allow many more Hispanics. This followed a large scale effort (named Operation Wetback) under Eisenhower to deport millions of invalidated immigrants, particularly those from the southern hemisphere and Mexico. It was not until the Democrats smelled millions of future Democrat voters in the 1970s that we became much more lax.

Most immigrants who work farms in both red and blue states are legally here on work visas.

Someone is catching them, or they would not be able to put them in buses. Right? CBP numbers show a record number of apprehensions and deportations. These guys are asylum seekers, so they need to be heard, but clearly Texas does not want them in their State, and I think they are setting a precedent where States will simply ship their issues to another State. It comes across childish.

 

Is that why Obama told us to learn Spanish, because he knew the invasion was coming?
