No other President challenged the act, but Trump is headed to be the first. The act is blatantly unconstitutional.(again, Trump is his Own Person, Presidential title be damned. It was all well and good until you get to the clause where the Archvist somehow retains rights to these Presidential Records after "the President" leaves office. One could argue that the records pertain only to an administration, and therefore can only be accessed by that administration.).

Simply, whether you're a President or a Dog catcher, people want to say 'everyone is under the law', well the law has that pesky Fourth Amendment thing. And it applies as much to "the President" as it does to you or me. Now, here's what I need people to understand: Though the 1978 law is unconstitutional on its face, because it wasn't challenged the Court could not rule it as such.

And considering that the archives aren't really accessible to the public, it doesn't even serve a public interest. It robs the President of the fourth amendment, and makes him lesser than the citizens he's governing over.

Donald Trump served as President, the presidential records will inevitably concern his actions as president so therefore by extension these records reflect his own person and should be kept for himself(to be blunt, the same is true for every President until this unconstitutional law was passed.) It strikes at the heart of the Fourth Amendment. Trump could even spin liberals on their head and cite the 14th. Since "the President" is held to a different standard by virtue of the 1978 law, then that of any other person keeping records of themselves and their activities.

Just because he's President, doesn't mean he loses protections and that's what the 1978 law does. I'm frankly amazed no challenge came up until now.
