More informed? Just because you are standing on a soap box it does not mean you are informed at all.

It's always good to try to find wisdom from hardships. Maturity mostly comes from facing suffering. Part of the problem with Western cultures is that people are spoiled and coddled for far too long.

So, her "hard times" was being fired from her first job? Oh, such tragedy!

As I posted, not so hard to deal with. She didn't have a loathsome disease, no car accident--she's just trying to appeal to Faux Snooze demographic. Weak.

To me, these words are always useful in going through the ups and downs that can happen in ones life in this far from perfect world marred by the evil one:

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Now matter the trial an individual is facing even unto death we have a comforter and the assurance of so much more for all eternity

And some people spend their time hunting out negativity towards Trump so they can come in like a white knight and save him.

A perfect description of the Trump Years - a low spot in history. Hope she can lead Fox viewers away from the False Idol, Trump.

Your reading is poor. What I said was that attributing positivity to a god-belief is delusional, not the positive thinking itself.

    Do try to keep up…

Extremely positive, as have all the members of our family in caring for my granddaughter during these tough two years.
We’ve worked as a pretty effective team…organising food drives, sharing the care of the other kids, sending gifts of books and craft materials, online parties, even organising the Clown Doctors visits during her many trips to hospital…
    https://www.humourfoundation.org.au/clown-doctors/our-work/
And since her chemo finished, helping her with her swim lessons and her walking exercises…

But hey, what would I know about staying positive and encouraging others…?
After all, according to the bigoted view of at least one other poster here, that would be totally “alien” to a secularist like me…

Sorry to hear about her struggle with cancer and I hope she gets better.

When I shared a story of my loved ones cancer here I was called a liar by one of those on the left.

Thank you. Getting better every day. Her latest (and last…!) operation was some tendon transplants for the muscles around her knee. So now the long physical therapy starts…she’s taken over from my dad (who passed away some years ago) as my hero…

Well I'm glad she's getting better.

My girlfriend went through 9 weeks of chemo and radiation for cancer and her lymph nodes. She seems to be free of cancer there but unfortunately she now has cancer of the larynx and that must be removed sometime here in early September.

She will lose her voice for a while until she gets used to the.... Whatever device will replace it.

She hasn't really been able to eat solid food since about February.... Tube feeding.

At least when this heals up should be able to eat again.

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. Some challenging days ahead, but it sounds like she has a strong person standing by her for support. All the best to both of you…

Hey, I'm a secular progressive and that comment is bigoted ignorance you should be ashamed of yourself.
As an atheist I have no problem with her rationalizing why bad things happen to good people. It is a common thought and helps some, what I have a problem with are ignorant bigoted statements like “that being positive thing is an utterly alien concept to a secularist” which is far from Christ-like.
