Long term prognosis is always difficult and I dont think a turn to a Russia which can be re-integrated and be able to live in peace with its European neighbours is completely impossible. Right now it's Putin and his regime in charge. His end can come tommorrow or he could be still in charge in 20 years, it would be nonsense just to potential hope that his rule will end soon and we get someone willing to step back to a modus in which Russia and the rest of Europe can live in peace with each other.

The most important point over the next decades will be to give the Russians who dont wanna live in a shithole state a perspective that they can leave the country. Russias borders are too wide, they will never be able to prevent their population from fleeing like North Corea or East Germany. No matter how this war will end, keeping up the embargo, weakening the Russian economoy to a point at which the people leave in masses.

 

Ukraine is a free western country. Ukrainians never want to be ruZZian slaves again like they were in Soviet times. Putin made a big mistake with his war.

There's some irony in there. Putin's political career began with terrorist attacks in Russia. His popularity shot up when he responded with harsh military action to it.

Now, he has launched harsh military action against a peaceful country, Russia is seeing terrorist attacks, and Putin is about to get Ceauşescued. It's like his entire career is being undone step by step.
