An American magazine published an article about US military assistance to Ukraine. The main thing:
    - In April, at the request of Kyiv, the United States handed over the coordinates of the Moskva cruiser, after which an explosion occurred on it.
    - Washington is not going to send long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, since Kyiv has expressed a desire to strike at Crimea.
    - The US cannot provide Ukraine with many HIMARS systems, they are not available.
    - The UAF counteroffensive plan was developed with the help of US and British military experts at a military base in Europe.

An interesting coincidence is the release of the article and a significant date - October 22, 1962 - the beginning of the Caribbean crisis.

Last time, the politicians of the USSR and the USA were able to agree, the USA removed the missiles from Turkey, the USSR removed the missiles from Cuba.
But this time I'm not sure.
Agree that you can not compare the intelligence and political authority of Kennedy and Biden.
And today everyone understands that the US and EU countries are parties to the conflict in Ukraine. In fact, the Russians are at war with the entire West.
And given the publication of this kind, everything is heading towards a nuclear war.
Saves the world from the apocalypse only Putin's amazing humanism. How much he can resist the party of retribution is unknown.
Putin, for his misplaced humanism, is criticized on all TV channels in Russia. Almost all analytical and political TV programs criticize him harshly for his restraint.
And I don’t understand - okay, all sorts of idiots scream about Putin’s weakness, they don’t have a brain, but the political leadership of the West .....? They probably have all the intelligence information about the state of society in Russia. Do they really not understand that in the event of Putin's departure, power in Russia will be received by a person incomparably more driven by imperial ambitions. And this is without options.
And then the west will shudder and the living will envy the dead.

I listened to one of Putin's recent speeches with a good translation. The man is quite skilled at making his case. He shouldn't be underestimated. I can't think of any western politician who can spin nearly as well as he can.

Yes. I can understand now how Putin remained popular to his people for so long. He spins things so well, lying with half truths. I can also see through some of our own propaganda.

He can sell his audience anything he cares to, they won't hear an alternate message and they are heavily invested in his being right. The world at large can see him for what he is without consequences.

Western media is very careful not to show Putin's speeches. Instead we get western talking heads telling us what Putin says or does, which is it's own form of propaganda, or we get the straight facts of what is happening (shots fired etc).

PS - I have a simple mind and am still amused by calling Putin Poutine.

You're off message here, comrade. From your link:

"Russia never admitted that the strike took place, instead blaming an onboard fire and stormy seas for the loss of the ship."

It's supposed to be a smoking-related accident, not a military strike. Remember?

And what's wrong? We are talking about who gave the coordinates of the warship to the enemy. You need to learn to understand what you read.

No, we're not "at war" (a fact for which Putin should probably be grateful), but we are currently in a state of hostilities that stops just a little bit shy of that. We're not actively killing Russians ourselves, at least not admittedly and openly, but we are providing arms and intel to Russia's enemies so they can kill Russians more effectively. It's a bit of a nuanced difference, but it IS a difference.

I hope you're wrong about this, but I fear you may be right. I've tried to console myself that blue cities will be the primary targets of a nuclear exchange, but it's not as comforting as it sounds.

All of this is irrelevant. I heard from a very good source that the Moscov sank because of an unexplained fire. No mention at all of missile strikes.

And yet I think that everything is heading towards nuclear war.
And it's not that "the Russians attacked the Ukrainian fascists", "the whole world is with Ukraine", "we will save democracy" .... and other similar nonsense. Nobody cares about Ukrainians, Syrians, Libyans, Afghans,....Vietnamese....etc. All this does not give a damn from the point of view of ephemeral and pragmatic "human rights". Any situation can be used as a pretext and as propaganda noise for your electoral herd.
The main cause of all wars is the economy. There are no other reasons. Religion, racial differences, level of development, habits....etc - this is just an excuse to solve their economic problems.
In the wild Middle Ages, the Pope staged "Crusades" for economic gain. He spat on the "sepulcher of the Lord." He needed gold. As well as all the participants of the campaign. And talk about the "Holy Sepulcher" is a banal PR.
Today, "human rights", "gender equality" and similar nonsense have been added to religious, racial and other traditional PR reasons for war.
That's all the differences from the wild Middle Ages.
And if you look at the economic basis of the modern world, you will see a striking resemblance to the economic basis before the First World War.
And also intertwined are the ties of corporations from different countries, also a scientific turning point in development, markets are also filled and there is a lack of resources .... and so on.
In general ... as Barbara Tuckman wrote about the First World War in her book "The Guns of August" - "Nobody wanted war, war was inevitable."

He is wrong. You can say a lot of negative things about Putin but he is not stupid. He knows better than to deploy a nuclear weapon. He is simply rattling his sword. It has gotten him a lot of press so I guess his rattling has had some effect.

If you had anyone more "Imperial" in your politics - Putin would already be dead
I wonder what happened that justifies a Nuclear apocalypse in your eyes, what is it that makes Putin such a great guy for NOT Nuking ppl ?

BTW, your way of thinking justifies any kind of war on you IMO....
