Yes of course, that's part of it. Don't you realise that when a community, great or small, pools resources to create something deemed to be for the greater good of the community, then that is society in action, an aspect of socialism. Now somebody will come on here and rant on about it only being a particular and specific economic structure that can be called 'socialism', but they will be wrong, and will invent some other terminology to describe things such as security forces, or schools, or bridges and so on. Maybe many Americans will fantasise that they are at heart a lonesome mountain man (or person or whatever the term might be) not dependent on others, but if they look around them they will see socialism in action everywhere, lots of 'we the people' stuff going on. Unless they live like a hermit I suppose.
People aren't talking about building infrastructure when they reject socialism. What they are, or should be rejecting is the idea that everything belongs to the State to be used or handed out as the government chooses. I'm afraid we are headed downhill to that as well. We'll see when the full force of this inflation sets in.
Everything belonging to the state is not what socialism is. If there are resources that the government distributes as it chooses, then in a democracy there is an opportunity to change that government and bring on different choices.
T announced his candidacy for POTUS for 24. As usual his speach was short on facts but big on exaggeration CNN BBC etc all reporting ... He is NOT a captivating , eloquent speaker..who relies on REAL FACTS data and logic.
It isn't about that If Trump is not the nominee, he will kill any chance the GOP has in 2024. They have no choice.
Republican stars have trouble shining through the haze thrown up by the American media. For instance: "As Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President in 2024 at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, Tuesday evening, President Joe Biden was in a makeshift war room in Indonesia, addressing a potential global crisis—offering a splitscreen of the two leaders." You see, Joe was saving the world.
You are right.........he does not even come close to them. If his lackluster performance is his "professional/ serious version of Trump..........is Trump version 2.0 he has a long way to go. Love some of the media 's handling of his "announcement" Putting a small line on the front page (Florida man makes big announcement)........... page 26.........or something like that. talk about point made Kinda feel for the guy.........as he does not realize or know his limitations. If someone is so starved for attention, praise etc there is a problem.
Trump is plotting his social media return as he mounts a comeback for the White House Donald Trump's campaign formally petitioned Facebook's parent company, Meta, to unblock his account Tuesday after it was locked in response to the U.S. Capitol riot two years ago. The letter comes as the former president plans his return to major social media accounts ahead of the 2024 campaign, with one Trump confidant saying advisers have already started workshopping ideas for his first tweet since Elon Musk reinstated his account. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/do...ST0uLGdDCzavHquFI4LbQiCoj7C5s93u/sG7xVjUBAAA=
Trump has struggled to raise money since launching his presidential bid in November Former President Donald Trump is strapped for campaign cash following the mid-November launch of his 2024 presidential campaign, according to figures obtained exclusively by NBC News. Trump pulled in about $9.5 million over the final six weeks of last year through his campaign and a joint fundraising committee, according to a person familiar with his haul. In a sign that Trump understands he’ll need to raise more money faster for what promises to be a competitive GOP primary race, his campaign is revamping its fundraising operation. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/do...SepjHYeqsg9uv7ss7ATqqbOGFOe+H/wBABiM5RwEAAA== attention all Trumpes..............Donald needs a lot more money.. Show your love and support of this man.......with mega bucks.
Yep. Quite a lot of what we enjoy and take for granted has come from socialist policies. Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, but also infrastructure, whether it's purely public or a result of government subsidies. American farmers owe a lot to such socialist policies also, considering all of the assistance they get. A lot of American industry benefits likewise. Seems like they never build a factory without some government loans and handouts, for example. Socialism is part of what makes America great and is not something to hate or fear. The kind of socialism we don't want is more along the lines of Communism or some other totalitarian system that excessively takes away individual liberty for the sake of centralized control over economic and social policy, but then it's always rather subjective where exactly these lines ought to be drawn. Different national systems draw them differently, yet for the most part it doesn't make a big difference in how people live. But if you look at Europe and the Commonwealth, you'll see that more socialism in the area of healthcare generally delivers a better outcome than our system, for instance. That's why it only makes sense for us to consider doing something like what they're doing instead of allowing the people who profit from the current, inferior system in our country to scare us out of that with their misinformation and fear mongering.
