was a good movie, but do not agree with "black only" screenings, any more than I would "white only" screenings for a movie

And “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” did extremely well in its day - what is so terribly wrong with a film showing people of a different culture?

in fact the highest grossing film of all time is “Avatar” and that was about BLUE people

same, I do not do theaters since the kids grew up, but when it comes to Prime Video I will purchase it, ranks up there with the Matrix and Avatar, hope this one as good as the last, Matrix, the 1st one was the best, we will see how this one and Avatar do with theirs

I can see its' appeal but to say it's a film for black audiences is wrong, all stories should be for everyone.

It would not suprise me, if this was one of the most famous topice on this site. lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pfffffffffffffffffffft.

Because black panthers was and is a black racist activist group against whites. lol.

One thing that cracks me up about Hollywood is that most of the organizations that are voting or judging weather or not it is a good movie, are other Democrat Liberal organizations itself.

So ofcourse, they're always going to love themselves. lol. lmao! hahahahahahqahya.

they always say things like; The washington times, or washington posts, or new york times or new york posts, says it's one of the best pictures of the year!

ABC, or NBC, or CBS, or some other fake liberal far left wing news rate it 10 out of 10 or 5 out of 5.

Well no crap sherlock! they kiss eachother butts, and support eachother for a reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pffffffffffffffffffffft.

most of hollywood is judged, and supperted, and what not by their own people, not, anyone that is non-biased!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol.

and most of the people that judge hollywood are people that are owned and controlled by George Soros, and Democrat Politicians.

maybe someone in the republican media should constantly look into George Soros's money, and life, and what now, and that would tell the truth about corruption in America? duh?

You are correct, but it is hard to compare movies across eras

When GWTW came out, you only had one option, see it in the theater. Films could be re-released every few years and keep adding to its totals

Now, I can wait a few months and see it on a streaming service.

For what it costs for a movie now, ($30+ for 2 people). not that many films I will spend that kind of money on. I use to see 20+ films a year in the theater, now 2-3 at most.

Oh, there was plenty of competition at the theater and clearly GWTW was the biggest film of that era, just a different movie universe then what we have now. I don't think that movie theaters as we know them will be around in 20 years.

For whatever reason, I have never seen that film in its entirety.

The larger chains have the unlimited movie passes now, which are actually a good deal. Just not enough films that come out that I really want to see these days

Back in the early 90s, I would see 2-3 films/mth

Back in the 70s/early 80. CBS would show that film once a year and I would always watch it

Even now, if I am flipping the dials and it is on TBS, I will watch a few minutes

    Yep, those monkeys were scary

I saw it last night, decent movie but long run time at 2 hours and 41 minutes.

Though culture was largely part of the plot, race was not.

    I enjoyed it.

With regards to re-releases, GWTW was a rare exception. Most of the "old Hollywood" thought that a film had one release and then went to the dust bin. It was only when television started showing them and later when VHS came along that those films got "new life."

I have a DVD set of GWTW. I has a lot of extras including a documentary about the South and Reconstruction as it was viewed in 1939 and the early '40s. They have warning message at the beginning that some of the "snowflakes" might be offended if they watch it. The warning concerns that fact that southern people were upset by the politics of the period.

As it is with more things historical, the interpretations are never black and white so far which side was virtuous and which one was from the devil. The Jim Crow laws and the KKK sucked, but the carpet baggers were not "entrepreneurs” as some of the intellectual left tries to portray them. They were bloodsuckers who saw an opportunity. It’s funny that the left would like “entrepreneurs.” Isn’t that a fancy work for “capitalist?” We know what the left thinks of them.

The scene from GWTW about paying the property taxes was true enough. The carpetbaggers did use high taxes, that were to be paid in gold, to get their hands on real estate at fire sale prices.

I wouldn't go to Black Panther Wankanda forever if they Paid! me to go see that garbage. I got fooled by the woke Liberal entertainment industry where critics were scared to give it a negative review for fear of being labeled a Racist and it got 96% positive reviews on Rotten tomatoes, it was actually hovering at 100% in the beginning. Before I figured it out I thought to myself Hmmmm! maybe this is worth spending the $30 for myself and my honey to go out on a date night and see it and Frack! was I wrong. I have no doubt this new movie is more of the same trash and will wait until it falls into the abyss and comes on for free on cable then turn it on for a good laugh. This movie is nothing more than Hollywood Woke BS propoganda trying to prop up the Black community into believing there's a Fantasy Country called Wakanda that is invisible to everyone except Wakandans, which are the smartest and most technologically advanced people on Earth full of wonders, but they're ok watching the rest of the Black race all around the globe suffer in horrible poverty and starvation, while living in Mud Huts and eating dirt cookies.

I remember the “black-sploitation” movies of the ‘70’s. A lot of good actors came out of that. Now you have alternate realty angle pulling for them. We’ll see how long it’s legs are.
