So! it looks like Apple is hampering the citizens of China in their ability to protest this Communist regime of President Xi, while also threatening to dump Elon Musks Twitter from its App Store. This is what a population gets when it allows a Communist dictatorship to take over and run the country, it's like a population of defenseless sheep being run by savage wolves, kind of what Liberals would like in America, where they can embrace their Marxism, try to disarm American citizens and restrict it's ability of freedom of speech on twitter and freedom in general, while the government controls everything and people who do speak up disappear.

God! I can only imagine the horror the chinese people imprisoned for standing up against the Chinese Government are having to endure in Chinese prisons right now

Tucker has been talking about this situation for the last 2 nights.

It really does illustrate clearly where Apple's loyalties are. It makes me want to throw away my iPad....

I have always been Anti-Apple. It is so obvious by the way their software operates they want total control. If the communist socialist Democrats get their way, we could end up in similar, but never as bad as a situation that China is in. But, we are heading in the direction where if you don't agree with the socialist doctrine, you will be blacklisted. See what happened with the liberal utopia of New York. If you don't get the covid shot, you cannot go to restaurants, gyms, movies and sometimes even jobs even though there is zero difference spreading covid via Vaccinated and Unvaccinated people. America is so indebted to China at this stage that our government has no choice but to bend to their regime and propaganda demands.

Americans always assume "It can't happen here"... from war to riots to terrorist attacks to hunger to so much more... and then it does. Thank God for the Second Amendment.

My ancestors were settlers out in Wyoming in the 1870's. I would just go back to living off the land while working part time as a contract engineer. I don't need for much anyways. Let the world go to hell at that stage. I am just a witness anyways . . .

Great sentiment. But you can only stay an innocent witness as long as someone doesn't come along and put you in chains.

No fan of Apple,, but by that same logic, Elon is helping China as well by allowing their bots to roam Twitter unimpeded due to the lack of staff available to combat it. He also cowtows to them and won't deploy starlink so the citizens can get their message out.

you dont need starlink to access youtube in china, just VPN. starlink is not cheap, it also require necessary ground hardware for starlink to work

Like his Tesla cars, or their chargers?
We know why he wont mandate the starlink integration for it to work, since here in America he mandates it for the quick charge to function, or the autopilot.

Because hes in bed with China as well.

VPN doesnt work in China, its fakePN. And the Youtube they get is a joke regulated by google whos in bed with them as well.

lol have you been to china? how do you know VPN doesn't work. i know ppl went to china for vacation and use vpn to access youtube twitter gmail, etc. also there are alot ex-pat in china, how do you think they communicate with their friends/family etc from their home country or access instgram/youtube etc.

as for starlink, since you are not an engineer specialize in wireless communication. lets just say, satelite signal are weak, it need ground station to work properly. why there is cell phone tower!, why we need more cell tower for 5g.

Actually....I do sorta specialize in that. I helped install the temp 4g towers for the presidential inauguration in DC to manage the increased traffic for the Obama and Trump administration.
You may be claiming I know more then Elon if he cant figure out a way to get starlink working in China. What we did back then is now reduced to portable devices one can carry in their pocket.

What they're really worried about is different opinions being on Twitter.

Yes, but to get the VPN you need it before you enter China.

Do you think they don't block access to VPN downloads?

It seems to me it's about more than money. It's that archaic idea of moral leadership perhaps, running a company guided by knowing the difference between right and wrong. Hypocrisy too, though hypocrisy is part of the human condition, especially when $$$ is involved.

Apple has its loyalty to profit, like any company. They have made their bed in China and now don't appear to be able to unhook it. There was talk about new Foxconn factory in Wisconsin a few years ago that fell apart. I'll bet the Chinese communist party had a lot to do with that plan falling apart. Basically the CCP has more effect on Apple than its customers. We need to unhook from China entirely. Not an easy or fast thing to do but an important one. China is the most powerful enemy we have ever faced. Yet we continue to feed it.

Fake pictures. Interesting torture idea with the fingers though - but the blood spatter on the fingers doesn't make any sense.

Apple cooperates with Chinese oppression... Well it's a free market right? The customer is always right? lol - yeah I'd prefer apple have more of a spine or sense of integrity on this. And yes, I do hate apple products, but not because of their business ethics. I just find them counterintuitive and rigid compared to android/pc.

As to this being similar to America or democrats, I don't see it at all. If America descends into fascism, it would be similar to what happened to Russia with a charismatic strongman pretending they're still democratic. It would have to be somebody like Trump, but more competent.

Democrats are not marxist. To the extent democrats go overboard on restricting speech, it's to protect vulnerable people and public health. There have always been limits on free speech like fire in the theater, and while it's okay to question if democrats want to take it too far, it's simply not the same as locking people up and torturing them for criticizing the government.

Conservatives have been misinformed on covid, but I have to admit I am disappointed in how China has handled covid. One would think they would be smart enough to realize their approach is stupid. Things were going well enough that people tolerated the reduced freedoms for a long while before.

It isn't staff who combats post or bots. lol
How could you even consider any staff reviewing 500 million post a day.
Its the very same algorithms now as it was a few months ago that single out post, bots, advertisements, ect.

And you don't need 7500 people with an average annual salary of $96,790, or $46 per hour, when Twitter has only had 2 years of profitability out of the last 10 with 2020 losing over 1 billion.

Apple is just picking the winning side. Of course the people of China are not going to win in the end. It's just like the protests in Iran. When have we last heard about them and their progress in overthrowing the government last time in the news?

No, we have not seen any progress on anything and eventually the protests will peter out as the Chinese people realize that nothing is going to change. Ever.

Well, never say never... but this time? Yeah probably not. Past unrest in China did promote incremental change though. They're not full-blown socialist anymore, but they are still totalitarian.

    The link suggests different.

"The apparent manipulation of Twitter by Chinese government sources, first reported by the Washington Post, follows widespread job cuts at Twitter, including among members of Twitter’s trust and safety team. Musk, who bought Twitter for $44bn (£36.4bn) last month, has fired half of the company’s 7,500 staff and a further 1,200 have reportedly resigned after he told remaining workers to accept being “hardcore” or leave."

We all know Elon is in bed with China, dont try an deny it.
