The Tax Reform Act of 1986 lowered the top tax rate for ordinary income from 50% to 28% and raised the bottom tax rate from 11% to 15%.


A couple of eminent tax economists, Alan Auerbach at the University of California, Berkeley, and Joel Slemrod at the University of Michigan, concluded in a 1997 retrospective in the Journal of Economic Literature:

“Of course, saying that a decade of analysis has not taught us much about whether TRA86 was a good idea is not at all the same as saying it was not in fact a good idea. We think it was. I see NO way Trump increased or preserved anyone's freedom. In fact, he has threatened all of everyone's freedom and continues to do so much more than anyone I can remember

One constitutional protection down the drain:
It was illegal to use intelligence agencies to spy on citizens without the “rare exceptions” of the FISA courts.
Not only did authorities lie to get approval tospy on citizens, they are routinely rubber stamped as “approved”. So far, their has been no penalty for breaking several laws, including lying to the judges.
Two constitutional protection down the drain:
You used to need to get warrants to find out where Joe Blow’s phone was on a certain date. Not only did the FBI ask carriers for all phone records of all people in a geographic area, the carriers did it without a warrant. It was illegal for the FBI to ask, and it was illegal for the carriers to gave.

I’ll stop here because in the pursuit of Trump, these exceptions have now become legal because they were not challenge and found to be unconstitutional. So by default they are valid state surveillance tools.
The nations honest citizens have lost these two protections. The list get longer as the anti Trump tribe stomps a scorched earth patch through your own constitutional protections (assuming you are a US citizen).
Sadly, the anti Trump fools just doesn’t get it. Happily, there are anti Trumpers who aren’t fools.

 

So I've lost the ability to betray my country by stealing classified documents and keeping them with impunity. How will I ever get by? What can I do to replace the income I could have gotten by selling them to the KGB?

Something additional to think about is if only all the other politicians that surround him and oppose him were free from corruption I think some jail time would be fine then. What we really need is a new generation and new type of politician.

2. Make Trump stand trial in a court of law (not 'public opinion').
