You can't make this stuff up folks! https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/12/13/detroit-remove-dr-ben-carsons-name-local-high-school/ Since he served in the Trump administration and dared to be republican (against the wishes of his white democrat masters), they dropped his name from the school. SHAME
Woke Stratego here. Detroit deserves a doctor who better represents the public. May I recommend Dr. Dre & Marshall Mathers High.
So a black guy escapes Detroit with his life, goes on to be a great surgeon and is rewarded by his own peeps with being cancelled. If people also want to cancel homophobes and abusers of women, I know a guy who has a street and probably a school named after him in every town and city in the country. The amount of cancelling the left can enjoy should make them drool with anticipation.
I was trying to make the thread title short. Is it offensive? If so, my apologies and I will follow it up with "person" going forward. (I'm not being sarcastic by the way, totally serious and am sorry if it was offensive)
Sometimes Beitbart does. In this case they do quote a person who opposed the name because of the link to Trump, however it fails to mention that there are numerous other Detroit schools being studied for name change too because of a new policy about school names The name change has not happened and is only being studied. There will be public imput and open meetings for each school before any changes are made. The panel this year approved a new policy to commemorate, name and rename school facilities. Under the measure, the board can opt to change a school’s name to honor “individuals who have made a significant contribution to the enhancement of education,” according to the district. The board also can select another name under circumstances that include when a building is newly built or redesigned, where the name no longer reflects the current student population or “the community of the geographic area where the school is located requests a name change that more closely aligns with the history of the locality, or information newly discovered about the current name of the school is negative in nature.” Citing those guidelines, the recommendation Tuesday involved four buildings — the Carson site, Harms Elementary School, Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men and Detroit School of the Arts, — as well as three new programs, including one at Marygrove, the Latin School or Catherine Ferguson Academy for Young Women. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/n...-carson-high-other-detroit-school/1996761002/
