On the news of the four college students stabbed to death -- The police have their man!!! That sorry piece of trash and human predator must have been surprised when the police came and arrested him at 3 AM. Good old fashioned police work using new technology. We must support the police.
From the news -- The most famous example of genealogical data being used to solve a homicide case was identifying the Golden State Killer as former police officer Joseph DeAngelo, who wasn't even a suspect when identified. California investigators were able to take DNA from a crime scene and use a public DNA database to trace it through his relatives and back to him.

To the OP — this seems more like the work of detectives and scientists

Cops have a tremendously difficult job and should be applauded usually but until they start to make some serious changes about the corruption and abuse that is so frequently seen in their ranks I don’t believe the public trust will be completely mended.

    Hopefully one day

Well, in your example, the DNC didn't have the Capital police back! They could have and DID have plenty of time to bolster their ranks and secure the WH.. But for some very obvious reason choose to sacrifice the police because of the hatred and fear of one man..

Shame on those Democrat leaders ;)

When they say Back The Blue, they mean to back them into a wall and run over them.

if the local idaho poluce found this killer they had plenty of help from the fbi.

the golden state killer was a local cop and was identified by a reporter.

that said, conservatives "back the blue" by beating cops with flagpoles and fire extinguishers.

Three quarters of a million police in the US and you managed to find three exceptions.

So, you dislike the police. But you still listed three exceptions like that had some meaning. To me, such comments are meaningless.

You shouldn't. Do you remember I have a screwed up on uvalde. Over and over and over again. Remember if there's ever a form of gun control put into place the people who are going to come to your house and take your guns away are the police. They would absolutely do that.

You commend then when they do their job properly.

'The police' encompasses many, many people here in the United States of America. It also includes the structures -- the police departments -- into which they're organized. In both instances, people and departments, we can expect to find a whole range -- from very good to very bad. They're a lot like us -- all of us -- in that respect.

We should beware whenever we're presented with an example. That example may well have been selected by someone with an agenda. In fact, in all probability, it was.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

I think a lot of police have giant egos and that tends to get a lot of them into trouble not as many as it should but a lot of them yes now that we have cameras watching them.

If you do donate do it directly to your local department. There are scams out there of people saying they work for the FOP or PBA. Always best to keep it local

Come on man! Seems some on the PF are saying "police bad -- criminals good". So little common sense.

Generally speaking, police are good unless they favor that thin blue wall concept. Furthermore, there are instances where police officers have been charged with crimes whether on or off duty. And the conservatives generally are not that unanimous about supporting law enforcement. Remember, you have congresspersons such as Gosar and MTG who want to defund the FBI and the DOJ for political purposes, and who have basically neglected what the Capital Police had to say because it did not fit into their political agenda. Thus, the idea of supporting law enforcement is more based on politics than on the nuts and bolts of good vs evil.

That's a diversion. Try to address the point raised without resorting to a whataboutism.

Very simply, the police have power. There are good cops and bad cops. We don't want bad people to have power. We want a system that protects us from bad cops, and a system that identifies bad people and removes them from the police. We need to actively and loudly support the good and honest policemen.

do you mean the dnc that asked for resignations from franken weiner, cuomo etc? the repubs have their share (and then some) of corruption without any action.

cops are probably distributed politically the same as everyone else.

Come on, anyone on this site over the last four years has seen the left here condemn law enforcement and take the side of rioters, drug addicts, sexual depravities and all the while promoting defunding..

At least present a challenge ;)
