I don't think I've ever been more unsurprised. The mask is finally off. The Left is now telling the traditional media, 'you've had your turn, it's our turn now':

objectivity is still taught on day 1 of every journalism class, and is strived for by every young reporter who ever took a job in a newsroom.

carlson is obviously looking for articles that justify his own perverted approach to journalism.

by the way, did you consider the new york times coverage of the "weapons of mass destruction" or the "9/11" stories to be particularly objective?

What the issue journalists are having is that "objectivity" is giving power to the extreme. Let's say 99 experts say one thing and 1 says the other they were obliged to give the one as much press as the 99 combined to present an objective view. Not very fair in reality and in fact gives the one a far more greater representation undeserved. For many journalists being obliged to present both sides equally was in fact a misrepresentation of reality. It would be better to present both views as they exist.

A consumer of 'news' these days [Ed.: and in the past as well,] should be careful to distinguish news from journalism. News deals with the hard facts of who, what, where and when.* As soon as there's a whiff of 'why', you've crossed the border into the land of opinion. Another tip-off is the use of adjectives and adverbs.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

    * Even when dealing with the four classic w's, fast-breaking news gets these wrong from time to time. Good sooth is to wait a day for the dust to settle. The view clears.

Journalists can't be 100% objective -- they're human. Ask most journalists why they chose that profession and you'll get the answer, "To make things better". Better in their opinion. That means reporting a slanted version of the news, usually slanted towards liberalism. And sometimes they will out-and-out lie. Only believe half of what you read or hear from a journalist.

Objective reporting left the Dailey Caller a long time ago.

They ditched objectivity when they replaced field reporters with on-air personalities. Couric getting a 5-year $75,000,000 contract to host the CBS evening news was more or less the death of traditional journalism.

Another contribution by a right winger using a far right wing source that makes him look like a fool.

Today's Republicans are incapable of dealing with today's real issues. So, they seek out far right fantasies and pass them on to us.

It probably has something to do with intelligence, meaning the lack thereof.

For discussions concerning today's issues check out this thread,

I think what truly looks FOOLish is when someone makes a comment and its 100% obvious they didn't even read the link in the OP.
What is so "far right" about it?
    The article isn't even opinionated.
It just states the following FACTS:

Former executive editor for The Washington Post Leonard Downie Jr. and former CBS News President Andrew Heyward interviewed over 75 media leaders to gauge how the industry views the concept of “objectivity.” The media figures argued that journalists should include their own beliefs, biases, and experiences to convey truth, and that journalistic objectivity was either unrealistic or undesirable.

are you saying the above is fake news? somebody fabricated that for what purpose? Also why are you plugging links to other threads in here? Are your threads that bad that you have to go begging in other threads?

    SAD!

    Between Objectivity and ‘Moral Clarity’

This post is in response to ‘You’re a Fascist. Care to Comment?’

    By NATE HOCHMAN

Nate Hochman writes that journalists in many of the country’s most established newsrooms wear their bleeding hearts on their left, rolled-up shirtsleeves. He’s right. And he’s right to ridicule CNN’s John Blake for his inquiry to DeSantis’s office about the governor’s decision on the proposed AP African-American Studies course, a decision that Blake seems to allege is fascistic.

    My colleague says:

In another era, a conclusion as wild as “culturally conservative curricular reforms are fascism” would rightly be viewed as one for the opinion section. . . . Journalists increasingly scoff at the idea of “objectivity” and “balance” favored by old-school editors. The new journalist-as-activist-interpreter conception trades the purported fallacies of “bothsides-ism” and neutrality for what the writer Wesley Lowery approvingly described as “moral clarity.”

And don't forget Dan Rather who used a fake document in one of his broadcast to make "W" Bush look bad. "The people" used the internet to prove it a fake. Cost ole Dan his job. Now you know why journalists are against an open and free exchange of ideas and communication on the internet and other social network platforms. The journalists have lost their monopoly on the "news".

Yep, but even Dan was critical of the Couric deal because CBS had to get rid of so many bureau reporters, particularly overseas, to be able to pay her that at the time.

The story links to a piece titled 'I'm a biased journalist and I'm OK with that'. It's from 2021 so I'll post the link:

They ditched objectivity decades ago in favor of money.

The free market does not do a good job producing accurate information.

Diversity? That's where you put unqualified people in positions of power or give them voice, and pretend they add value....
