GOP Chooses Who Will Give The Republican Rebuttal To Biden’s State of The Union Speech

…During a press conference between Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, both leaders announced that they have chosen Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders to refute Joe Biden’s speech.

Newly elected Governor of Arkansas Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been a firebrand for conservative values both as a candidate and as Donald Trump’s Press Secretary.

“Americans are still struggling from inflation, a border crisis, record crime, and a failing school system. As House Republicans work to fix these problems in Congress with our Commitment to America, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is addressing them head on with her conservative agenda outside of Washington,” McCarthy said during the announcement.

Biden's speech will be nothing specious self congratulations, platitudes and bromides and invective against the Republicans. He will demand others do things instead of himself and offer no plans for the economy or the future of SS and Medicare of the budget and the deficits. He will claim he cut the deficits when in fact it was already planned elimination of the COVID spending and he will fail to acknowledge that it is HE he is driving for even HIGHER spending and HIGHER deficits and debt.

The question is will McCarthy tear up the speech after Biden finishes. Pelosi set the precedent and has NEVER backed away from it.

He won’t tear up the speech because there are more appropriate ways of expressing disagreement with the speech contents. The speech will be the test whether he seeks cooperation and bipartisanship on key issues or whether he intends to further enflame our divide as a nation.

Spending bills can arise from either house of congress, revenue bills must arise from the House. And the statutory law concerning the budget process requires the President to submit his budget by the end of January and he has not and his press secretary refuses to say when he will submit it.
