…He also announced in December that the construction of the wall along the state’s border with Mexico would resume.

The announcement came after months of negotiations between state officials and private property owners, ultimately coming to an agreement to construct infrastructure on their land.

The border wall construction project has been under development for months after the Texas Facilities Commission approved a $167 million contract with Southwest Valley Constructors Co. The project is intended to erect a nearly seven-mile border wall in the Del Rio area.

A second contract was also inked with construction company BFBC of Texas to construct a separate seven-mile wall in the Rio Grande Valley….

Way to go Texas! It’s good to get this news. Soon 14 more miles will be secured. Thank you to the land owners who agreed to do this.

    Great!

Now, if Abbott runs in 2024, he and Trump can fight over who built the bestest and biggest wall. It will be nice to watch the fireworks.

And Texas folks wonder why their Governor doesn't give a **** if they freeze or have working power. LOL. Abbot needs to spend all their money on a 7 mile useless wall.

It would be interesting to audit the construction company and see if they have any connection to the politicians that wanted this built. The price seems absolutely absurd.

    Walls don't work!
According to liberals, mexicans can user their super human strength to just jump over the walls.
What we need is drones to take pretty pictures of all the illegals. Now THAT is effective!

It doesn't take superhuman strength to be invited in since Texas prohibition laws create a demand for Mexicos drug market.

Yup! When clueless, blame it all on a red state. How convenient. You should do some research, most of the demand for those drugs does not come FROM texas and they go all throughout the country, especially to dirty blue cities

There isn't a market for the blackmarket where its legal.
Who wants fentanyl laced garbage, when you can get it from a legitimate source that actually has accountability?

The best market for the cartel is where prohibition is in full effect, which is Texas. Prohibition also attracts the most dangerous offenders.

One of gov.B"abbots" relatives needed a large contract...
They need to check in with george santos to see how to really scam a bit more.
tRUMP showed them how to scam and now santos will give them another avenue.
    texASS is messing with themselves

Don't remember anyone on the left side griping about the $19 million that Nancy spent to put a chain link fence around the Capitol.

Good job Texas. The progress conservatives can make even under left wing authoritarianism is pretty impressive.

Oh I'm sure the conservatives will get it one day, even if it takes every dime we got.

I will wait judgement on the wall. At 7 miles seems ok especially in that area. If it is manned then it should have some effectiveness, but as others pointed out, it will get expensive.

As I have said, if Abbott continues to move the immigrants to inside the USA, more will come, and will inundate the walls purpose.

It's been underway for a while, since 2021. the problem is that it is costing more per square mile than in the Trump Administration and they can only do it on state land only. But it still does not solve the root cause, just one symptom of illegal immigration. And with this construction, all it is doing is changing the flow of traffic of illegals, nothing more, nothing liess.

You have to buy the land. You have to clear it. The whole project has to have paid security so **** doesn't wander off, people don't get kidnapped, etc. You have to survey it both to build the damn thing and for environmental. Thanks to the hippies a whole metric **** ton of surveys and studies and remediation that has to occur to protect our version of the snail darter and other species so 1) singularly located and 2) incredibly fragile, as to die if you so much as dig a hole in the ground and put a post in it.

Mostly they concentrate the sections on known high traffic crossings. Block those off and shunt the traffic to harsher terrain where they are 1) less likely to attempt 2) less likely to succeed 3) more likely to turn back rather than die.

Honestly if other states want these people here so much, they can take them in initially. We're full down here, yall decide for yourselves. Either support our efforts to secure the border, or make the new arrivals you demand and enable welcome.

You cannot make others to do what you want, not going to happen. Abbott can continue his game but should he continue, more will come. A blind man can see it.

Seems other states are trying to make Texas do what they want. Does that not fit into your rule book?

Indeed you cannot make others do as you want. You don't have to support us. We'll just keep sending you the new arrivals for you to deal with since you want them and you can't make us want them or do what you want.
    See how that works?
